Ancient Gear player here: we have some limited go first options. We can end on Bagooska or True King and with Anchor Drill's second ability end on either Hope Harbinger or Number 90. And btw run more fusion enablers like Hound (2 or 3), AG Fusion (2) and maybe Power Bond (1 or 2). Nowadays we also run Instant Fusion as additional extender for Ballistic Shooter.

@@ciromaccarone7494 I do go to locals occasionally. For an otk deck it's alright for what it does, even without Verte or Shooter for now. It has a relative good Striker match-up because Chaos Giant is immune to spells. It can also compete with Orcust to a degree if you bait the crescendo. For an otk based Machine archtype they are however somewhat lacklustre and can sometimes be stopped by a single negate. Only play them if you really like the archtype, otherwise play a deck like Cyber Dragon or Trains.

This is still my favorite deck! I did win a local the previous weekend in GR Michigan and beat some meta. I added a dreaded trap to the deck. Anti-Spell Fragrance it helped with being forced into going first. I did beat a Nekroz Turbo deck, Dragon Link, Drytron, Trap-Eldlidge, and a CyDra. So it can matchup against certain meta

After game 1 if they lose you will be forced 1st no matter what they play and that's where Fragrance really shutdown CyDra, Drytron, Dragon Link and the Nekroz Dekbot turbo. It is tough against Virtual World and Trap heavy/slower control decks. But the train does go burrrr and a one turn KO is so satisfying when it happens so often with this deck, and if somehow they survive I just setup Zeus with Dragoon and pass.

That’s an interesting “purer” way to take the deck! I like running a monstrosity turbo in the side to get a VFD going first and maining more reactors, a kaiju engine for the rank 9s, and some other things. My builds do struggle however with getting out lethal in some cases and I didn’t even think of the verte play

A while back I tried making a True Draco/Ancient Gear deck. I gave up because I couldn't make it consistent, but this might be a good chance to pick it back up. If you're wondering why I'd want to mix a control deck with an OTK deck. It's because both have searchers, they can use each other's cards for their destruction effects, and if I'm running Metaltron XII the True Dracombatant, then I can say I run a "Metal Gear" deck
