Also in the South Western Pakistan there are hazara (Mongolians who settled here) ethnic people . So you see we have quite divers country. But what i originally meant here is that. Indus valley civilization belongs to the Punjabis and Sindhis people. Punjabi and Sindhi people live in Pakistan. That Indus valley civilization is based in modern day Pakistan. Not the modern day Republic of so called india! Even the Indus River after which that civilization was named is in modern day Pakistan not in Republic of india. The original Indians are the people of Pakistan not the so called fake Indians! I can go on and on over this topic but I think i don't need to because i am sure you understand what i mean. I am sure you can separate truth from the lies.

Rahon is a historical city that have a story in each part of history...in ramayana dashrat killed shrawan kumar...it is believed that shrawan kumar was taking his blind parents across india and as he was crossing rahon which was jungle at that time he thought of leaving his parents...his dad knew something was wrong and asked him to just take them out if forest atkeast as he crossed rahon he forgot that he even thought about that......in mahbharata when padavas wnet to to exile they lived in rahon for a time...there is suraj kund that is a lond which was made by pandavas...there is a big temple there..there is another kind in kurukshetra... during greek sikandra or alexanders army threw arms at shore of satluj near rahon.... during mughals rahon was 3rd biggest city in asia and had biggeat food market in world but series of attacks shrinked it down...it is believed that rahon is a cursed town and people dont even take its name in the morning...

Nice! Have you heard of Neutral Moresnet? Nominally a condominium by Prussia, Netherlands and Belgium but de-facto an anarchy. A small land stripe close to Aachen, created after the Napoleonic wars and later renamed to Amikejo (Esperanto: place of friendship). It existed for 100 years but it vanished after the first world war. I live like 30 km away from where it was, I had not a single clue about it and was really surprised to read about it. Life must have been pleasant and peaceful there.

Fun fact: in the Darbar hall of the rashtrapati bhavan (the Indian presidential palace) there is a statue of lord Buddha dating to about 4th century ad. The statue was discovered near the gandhara region (modern day Pakistan and Afghanistan). It bears striking resemblance with the sculptures of classical rome and Greece.

It’s one of the most fascinating part of world history. One may say bad or good about Alexander, but there is no denying about not only his influence but about the innumerable able and efficient rulers and generals he created along the way who ruled his satrapies and their descendants who were equally capable. I regret the fact that Indo Greek traditions and histories are not given proper attention in sub continental ancient history. We Indians inherited a lot from this period of history and we should accept it. Greeks contributed a lot to Buddhism then and the Buddhist art and literature flourished in India because of them and kushanas took it from Greeks and spread Buddhism to China and east Asia bcoz of which they are Buddhist today

Just wanna add something important here. Eurocentric scholars barely talk about the Indian influences on Greece, both before and after Alexander. Thomas McEvilley was perhaps the first to do extensive research on this subject. India and Greece influenced each other. It's not just Greece that influenced India. It is quite likely that the Pre-Socratics were influenced by Upanishadic and Sramanic Philosophies. This is likely coz the Greeks were in contact with the Indians via the Persian Empire, way before Alexander. Post Alexander, it is likely that the Greeks were influenced by Buddhist Philosophy. Pyrrho lived in India for more than 18 Months. He learnt Indian Philosophy from the Gymnosophists. Buddha had already been dead before Alexander in India. So, either the Stoics or the Epicureans or both were influenced by Indian Philosophy via Pyrrho, who took Indian Philosophy back to Greece. Eurocentric scholars always try too hard to falsify the likelihood of external influences on Greek Philosophy. The Ancient Greeks themselves often gave credit to others, like Egyptians and Indians. Modern day scholars are biased. Diogenes Laertus mentioned that Pyrrho's Equanimity came from India. So, you see, we should come out of this Eurocentric bubble and be honest. Philosophy did NOT begin in Greece and the Greeks did NOT invent it independently. That much is obvious ...

Nitpicking here, but "Alkidemos" is a compound word, from "alki", meaning strength in combat, and "demos", meaning people, so I am surprised you have chosen to interpret "Athena Alkidemos" as Athena the Savior; I believe something like Athena the Strength of the People conveys the sentiment more accurately. At any rate, savior would be "soter" and, in fact, this exact word features in the inscription on the obverse of the same coin at 9:50, which reads ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΣΩΤΗΡΟΣ ΜΕΝΑΝΔΡΟΥ, meaning "of King Menander the Savior". Obviously you are also aware of the fact that the epithet "Soter/Savior" was claimed by many Hellenistic rulers as well (Ptolemy I, Antiochos I, Diodotos I, Demetrios I of the Seleucids etc), which is another reason why translating "alkidemos" as the same thing seems weird.

I think you are right. Δήμος means not people in general, but the people of a city in particular (the word democracy/δημοκρατία comes from it) . The original Hellenic/Greek words for whoever is curious: Αθηνά Αλκίδημος and Σωτήρ So Αθηνά Αλκίδημος must mean something like "Athena , who preserves a powerful city" , or "Athena who give power/strength to the people of the city", and of course Σωτήρ is Savior

HI, I am from India and love the videos you have made. My request is to make more videos about the political and military history of the Indian subcontinent on a timeline since there are so many empires and kingdoms. Such a visual representation as an animated video would be very useful to get a grasp of the complexities of Indian political & military history and would be easier to teach school children in India since many of them have only their school textbooks to learn about the history which I believe are inadequate, probably biased by current political ideology as well as failing to give a proper picture of the syncretism of various cultures, religions, traditions and races that have achieved peaceful living and strong empires through the centuries. Many of the current conflicts in the Indian subcontinent can be resolved if future citizens are given a proper understanding of their own history.
