Ancient Lore | Arceus's Wish OST

The Heir sat in his study, consulting various ancient texts. Learning of the forces that wrought this new world into being. He soaked his mind in knowledge that could drive the average dweller of this land to madness and insanity. However, compared to his Ancestors work at the estate, this was almost mundane. He stood up from his chair, the stiff muscles in his new body aching. He grabbed the glass of wine, and briskly walked to the window, looking over the small hamlet they called home. Upon the arrival of him and his cohorts, he established a his own "rescue" guild. Which quickly gained fame and notoriety. Fame, in the fact that they never failed on their missions. Notoriety, due to the amount of broken individuals sent to into the street after only a handful of missions. It may seem cruel, however their prosperity would have been snuffed out if they had to stitch the wounds of those not strong enough. He almost smiled, the eagerness of the young ones especially had him set a required age for joining. Lest their young bodies and minds be ripped asunder. In response, they lied about their age! Only to be broken, once the stress of a do-or-die situation befell them. His loyal men, though, they where unbroken. The Darkest Dungeon threw it's worst at them, and they emerged intact. Damaged, yet functional. However, in this world, they rarely encountered any trouble. Not even the most hardened warriors of this realm showed near the strength or skill they did. But something was looming on the horizon, he could feel it in his very blood. Darkness was rising, and he needed to be prepared for it. And so he returned to his studies, until he came upon a strange report from a town, not far off. It was recent, dating back no further than 3 weeks. A case of this affliction. One that effected both the mind and body. He knew that from a glance this was the work for some dark force, that was for certain. It was time for them to make the first move against this unseen threat.

Such a nice melody that fits well with the atmosphere and high stakes of the scenario. While I can't say it's one of my favorites of the OST overall, I respect it by the amount of huge effort and passion put into it. And don't get me wrong, I love everything you guys done, but I have to be honest with my feelings sometimes. Still, keep doing all your best effort. I'll always be here supporting you all.

This felt really well done and well fit into what we know at the moment, the right blend of fear and mysterious when it comes to the Assimilated. Reminds me of the Abyssal badlands from PSMD mixed with mostly Hollow knight. Lesser so with Oneshot, but I probably think that because I've been obsessed with that game for a bit... Great work! Cannot wait for Chapter 3!

“Alita and Glacie head forward on a long trail through a deep forest path. Night was beginning to set on the horizon. The sun setting over the horizon brought a sense of dread for the two.” (Narrator) “Glacy. It might be a good idea to find shelter for the night. We’ll be easy targets moving through the forest like this. Especially from an assimilated attack. Besides… Kyle looks pretty exhausted.” (Alita) “Glacy turned his head to look behind him to look at their charge as he walked. He could see his valuable prisoner behind him, panting hard and restricted in movement with heavy shackles around tired furry black wrists. Around his neck, hung a rope, connected around Glacy’s waist and preventing him from moving anywhere except with them. (Narrator) “We can’t stop now… If we keep going, we can my hometown by daybreak. Just give him an Oran juice. We have 2 packs left I believe.” (Glacy) “Glacy… Come on… We’ve been walking on the trail with him nearly all day. I can tell Kyle is not used to walking this long. It’s not a good idea to overwork him like this. He already doesn’t trust us…” (Alita) “Slowing down for the night I believe poses a higher risk of an attack by an assimilated pokemon. I already know the other assimilated pokemon are probably hunting him right now. Whoever is responsible for the assimilation issue knows about him and wants him dead.” “Glacy… I don’t…” (Alita) As Alita was about to say something, Kyle tripped to the ground! He was panting very hard now. He felt his eyesight going in and out. He was absolutely exhausted. He struggled to pick himself up, his limbs jittery from the long distance they have already travelled. Glacy and Alita began to help him up. But he was struggling to even stand up now.” (Narrator) “Glacy…” (Alita) “Glacy turned to Alita and gave a sigh.” (Narrator) “Alright Alita… I… see your point. Let’s find somewhere safe to rest up for the night. We can begin walking again in the morning.” (Glacy) Alita smiled at Glacy and nodded. She looked back to Kyle. She could see the faintest smile on Kyle’s face. (Narrator) “Alright. Lets take a quick look around to see if there is somewhere nearby that might be good for cover to sleep for the night.” (Glacy) “They both nodded to each other. Alita approached Kyle who was still panting. She lifted her head under Kyle’s belly and began to lift the exhausted Umbreon onto her back.” (Narrator) “Come on Kyle. I’ll carry you while we look for somewhere to rest.” (Alita) “Th… Thank you…” (Kyle) She nodded and smiled at Kyle. Kyle for some reason felt a bit more safe as the began to walk off the forest path, looking for cover for the night. He remembered that while on the road, he’d not said a single word. The Bayleaf had tried multiple times to strike up a conversation with him, curious about him and his life. But he never replied to her, until now. He felt his worry melt away a bit.” (Narrator) “(Thought) She’s… really kind. I thought my heart would stop with how long I’ve been walking… She… doesn’t seem like someone who’d leave me strapped down tight to a restraint bed, having the life sucked out of me… I… Was I wrong about her?” (Kyle) “As they continued looking around, his worry and fear began to melt away little by little. Eventually, the group would find something that could suffice their need for shelter. A cave a bit of ways off the forest path, with an entrance difficult to see from the distance. (Narrator) “Alright. This should be a good place to rest for the night. It’ll be difficult for them to spot us from in here. Let’s get ourselves settled in.” (Glacy) “Good. Come on Kyle. Let’s get a fire going and a nice, cozy hay bed down for you to sleep on. I don’t have a blanket with me, but… I hope you’ll be able to sleep without one. I’ll get to making dinner for the three of us.” (Alita) “Al… Alright… Th… Thanks umm… Alita… (Kyle) “They headed inside the cave and began preparations for beds and a fire. Alita set a bed down for each of the 3 and began to cook some tomato soup in a large bowl cooking over the fire. Glacy unwrapped the rope around his waist and instead tied it to a large stalactite sticking a bit high up on it. Out of Kyle’s reach, but would still allow Kyle to stick close to the fire and lay on his bed. Kyle watched the fire burn, with the small of tomato broth wafting in the air around the cave. He felt his stomach growl, as she saw Alita adding some herbs and spices to the dish. Though his shackles felt heavy and uncomfortable, he strangely felt… at ease. (Narrator) “Alright Kyle. It shouldn’t take long to cook. You’ve ever had tomato soup before back on your world?” (Alita) “Kyle felt a bit nervous to speak up, but began to steal his courage and speak.” (Narrator) “I… I had it… not too many times. I’m… not the biggest fan of it… I’m… more of a meat type of guy…” (Kyle) “Alita chuckled a bit and looked at him with a smile.” “We’ll then… Let’s see if my homemade tomato soup might change your mind.” (Alita) She took a bowl and began to pour some soup into it, using vine whip to move the ladle and bowl. She then carefully placed the bowl of soup on the ground in front of Kyle’s bed. Kyle’s stomach rumbled again and the whiff of the soup wafted against his nose, the scent stronger then before. He began to salivate a bit and lick his chaps in anticipation. (Alita) “Try it, Kyle. You’ll like it.” (Alita) “Kyle nodded and began to face his head down. He slowly approached the bowl and began to stick his tongue out to taste it. His tongue soon made contact with it. Kyle tasted the tomato of course, but a bit of a spicy kick. The spicyness began to dissipate a bit, and now a sweet taste within Kyle’s maw. Kyle smiled as he swallowed the first bit. (Narrator) “So… how do you like it, Kyle? (Alita) “Oh… um… It’s tastes… really good actually. The sweet and spicy blend in this is… well… pretty fantastic!” (Kyle) “She smiled as she handed a bowl of soup to Glacy, and then one for herself.” (Alita) “My family used to make this for me when I was a Chikorita. They eventually taught me to make it.” (Alita) “Well… I… certainly like it.” (Kyle) They continued to eat for a bit. Seeing that there now seems to be trust forming between her and the prisoner. She decided she would try again to learn more about him.” (Narrator) “Hey, Kyle?” (Alita) “Y… yes Alita?” (Kyle) “Can… Can you tell me what the human world is like?” (Alita)

(Pt 2) “M.. My world?” (Kyle) “Yea Kyle. What’s was your life like back on earth?” (Alita) “I’m… surprised you seem so interested in someone who’s… being taken against his will to somewhere far away…” (Kyle) “Alita gave a solemn look and looked at Kyle with soft eyes.” (Narrator) “Well… it’s just… I’ve always wondered if humans were actually… real…” (Alita) “Kyle slurped a bit of his soup. Wiping his face a bit after. He looked at Alita, a bit confused.” (Narrator) “You… wondered if humans are… real?” (Kyle) “Well… yea Kyle. I’m… familiar with some ancient stories dealing with humans in our world.” (Alita) “Ancient… Stories?” “Yea… There were incredibly old storybooks that were discovered long ago that detailed certain… world ending events that our world has faced.” “Kyle’s head and eyes shot up, and he coughed a bit of soup onto the rocky ground near his bed!” (Narrator) “Wor… world ending events!” (Kyle) “Alita nodded and began to settle here self down a bit on her bed. She took a quick spoonful of soup and gulped the delicious tomato broth down.” (Narrator) “Yea, Kyle. There is many old stories that have been found in detail in ancient structures and incredibly old books. It’s not known how old some of these stories are. There was one that detailed a human turned into a Totodile and together had saved our world from being cast into darkness forever with a Meowth. There is was a story about how a human transformed into a treeko and his mudkip partner had climbed a tower in the sky, to call upon a god to destroy a meteor, that would have destroyed our world. Several of these stories had been found in different places throughout our world, and each one had one thing in common. One of the saviors is a human. Humans are immortalized as legends in a time long forgotten, except to those who inscribed it in an ancient book. It’s still fiercely debated in many different parts of the world whether these are factual or not, but… Since your here with us, Kyle…” (Alita) “Kyle’s heart began to sink a bit, worried at what Alita would say next. He slurped up a bit more soup.” (Narrator) “My… parents used to read me these old books. These books were remade and sold as storybooks interpreted with what we could understand. So… What was your life like on Earth, Kyle?” “Kyle looked toward Alita. He could see her soft smile on her face. A comforting look in his situation. He then looked to Glacy, who was staring at him. Seemingly waiting in anticipation at Kyle’s answer.” (Narrator) We… well… I was… raised in a small town far away… My… father was a gym leader and my… (Kyle) “Gym leader? He trained other humans or maybe pokemon?” (Alita) “N… No… Um… A gym leader is where… ummm… pokemon trainers go to have battles with their partner pokemon to see if they can make it to the leader, which in this case is my dad, and beat him to prove himself worthy of warning a gym badge…” (Kyle) “Wait?… Battle with partner pokemon?” (Alita) “Umm… Ye… yea…” (Kyle) “Are the pokemon ok with that?” (Alita) “Actually, yes, in most cases. Humans… tend to treat their pokemon partners very… uh… very good. They play together, support each other, protect each other, and work to create a better future for all.” (Kyle) “Alita smiled at Kyle and nodded. She felt calmed by the thought of humans and pokemon working together to create a better world for both.” “Well. That’s wonderful to know Kyle. I’m glad your world works just like ours. (Pt 3) “Umm… Yes actually. She… worked at a pokemon daycare.” (Kyle) “Alita chuckled a bit and gave a pleasant smile at Kyle.” (Narrator) “A pokemon daycare?” (Alita) “Ye… yea. Sometimes, I’d get the chance to… uh… help tend to the pokemon in it… It… actually felt… good to be honest.” (Kyle) “Alita chuckled again, with a big smile running across her face.” (Narrator). “Really? Did you have to change a young pokemons training pants a bunch, too?” (Alita) “Oh… um… actually… pokemon don’t wear those where I’m from… like at all…” (Kyle) “Really? Then how do you manage a young pokemons waste?” (Alita) “Umm… I don’t think I want to go into detail…” (Kyle) “Alita smiled again and began to slurp up the last bit of soup in her bowl. She grabbed the ladle again and dipped it into the soup to get a bit more from the pot.” (Narrator) “What do you want to grow up to be, Kyle?” (Alita) “I… I… wanted to work at a pokemon daycare, like mom. But… if… if that doesn’t work out, I’ll… probably try to be a photographer.” (Kyle) “A… photographer? What is that, Kyle?” (Alita) “Oh… Are there not… camera’s in this world?” (Kyle) “No. I don’t even know what a camera is…” (Alita) “Well a photographer is… someone who… well… he basically… I guess… captures an image of something in the real world, and then… transfers the entire image onto a… photo, which is on either a… ummm I guess an image processing device or a piece of paper.” (Kyle) “Oh… so you want draw images of the world around you?” (Alita) “Umm… no that’s not what I mean. When someone takes a photograph using a camera, the camera itself captures the entire image of the scene in the lens of the camera. The entire image is then is either digitally uploaded to a device that can hold it or on a piece of paper. And the image isn’t a drawing. It’s actually… a realistic image of what was taken on the lens when the picture was taken.” (Kyle) “Wait… A realistic image. Like I’d what is perceived from our eyes already?” (Alita) “Yea! Kinda like that…” (Kyle) “That’s incredible! To think that a single device can capture real world images and the place them on a piece of paper. How in the world does that work I wonder?” (Alita) “Umm… the process concept might be too much to explain right now…” (Kyle) “Well… Alright then Kyle.” (Alita) “The group continued to eat their soup, with Alita and Glacy talking a bit about their own lives and upbringing. Soon the soup was gone and the group had been filled up, including Kyle.” “Alright everyone. I think it’s about time we went to bed for the night. Hopefully we won’t run into trouble tomorrow as we make our way towards the city. (Alita) “Yes. I can put out the fire. Hang on everyone.” (Glacy) “Glacy blew icy wind at the fire. The ice began to quickly melt into water and quickly extinguished the fire.” (Narrator) “Alright everyone. Let’s get some sleep. Kyle… Please don’t try to get away… We don’t want to have to track you down in the morning, ok.” (Glacie) “Sigh… I know Glacie. I know…” (Kyle) “Good. Alright. Goodnight Kyle, Alita. (Glacy) “Goodnight everyone.” (Alita) “G… Goodnight guys…” (Kyle) Glacy and Alita quickly huddled on their hay beds and quickly fell asleep. Kyle watch them as they laid down. He looked towards the rope, tied high up on the stalactite. He began to think for a moment about trying to get at it. But then… he felt that this might not be the right choice to make… He looked back to the others one more time and then towards the entrance to the cave. Kyle could hear the sound of rain and thunder blowing on the outside. A storm had begun to pass over the land. The soothing sounds began easing his tired mind. He began to huddle up tightly in his bed, and fell into a deep slumber. Hours later” “They went down this path, my minions… I know it…” (Gengar) The gengar looked at the tracks on the ground. He look back to his fellow assimilated goons and gave a big, menacing smile.” (Narrator) “We’re getting close. We’ll find that scared little human soon come on!
