I have found many of those carved bowls in massive boulders along with obvious monolithic stacked boulders on Kauai Hawaii. Nobody thinks anything of them here. There are thousands of stone constructions across the earth from Briton, France, Europe, Asia, the middle east, Egypt, Japan, north and south America, parts of the Pacific, in fact, they are found and continue to be discovered in just about every country. The construction shapes vary from blocks, walls, pyramids, circles, temples, buildings cut in mountains, and even spherical boulders. Many of the constructions have astonishing geometric shapes, no one can really explain how they were built, the alignments, the mathematics involved, how massive stones were moved, or who built them Although the age of many or most of these constructions is often debated and largely unknown, some have geological evidence for very advanced age. It is not inconceivable that similar constructions could exist in New Zealand i.e. walls made of massive stones (Kaimanawa) or spherical boulders. In fact, to adamantly state they don't, doesn't fit with the pattern in the rest of the world. Sadly most of the comments here focus on race and color! which has absolutely nothing to do with stone boulders.

Your inquisitiveness and your wish to be factually informed is admirable. Histories are generally taught to blend in with political agendas of nations, and NZ is no exception. The current orthodoxy taught in NZ school curriculums and universities is in line with the narrative, that Maori were the first inhabitants of New Zealand, and any other evidence to the contrary is flat out dismissed as conspiracy theory, or unqualified non-academic opinions. Academic indoctrinations are emphasised on. There are numerous artefacts in NZ validating the fact that the country was inhibited long before the arrival of Maori. The thing about the Moriori arriving a couple of hundred years earlier has no basis in fact, it's a common misconception that was disproved in the 1970s - they were Māori who settled the Chatham Islands from mainland NZ, probably around 1500, and they underwent a cultural shift due to resource scarcity. Their language is a dialect of Māori most similar to the Ngāi Tahu dialect. They are genetically and culturally Māori and their early artefacts match those found on the mainland. There are definitely some interesting and tantalising clues that people may have at some point visited NZ prior to Māori settlement, but there is no solid evidence that anyone other than the ancestors of Māori settled here for long enough or large enough numbers to leave any evidence. Contrast this to the viking settlement sites in remote parts of Canada - despite them not having managed to successfully colonise North America there is still plenty of evidence for the handful of attempts that they made. Polynesian people are well known for erecting stone monuments similar to those of the neolithic period in Europe. There are some particularly impressive monuments in Tonga, for example, as well as the obvious Easter Island Maoi, and astronomically aligned monuments throughout western polynesia and micronesia. The artifacts, stone monuments and carvings shown aren't stylistically different to other Polynesian examples found elsewhere, which is why archaeologists don't view them as being evidence for a non-polynesian culture on their own. The whole idea that the archaeological community is taking part in a conspiracy to suppress knowledge for which evidence exists I find fairly unbelievable - archaeologists, and indeed any person who's gotten into a financially unrewarding profession, are doing the work mostly for the love of it, there is no incentive for them to hide things and indeed if there was any evidence contrary to the current understanding then surely they'd be all over it. I have copied and pasted this from another korero and its written by a white guy and its the most informed korero that I have ever come across.

Such history is fallible and replete with conjecture - and mythological creatures. WIll you not recognise the fact that when Tasman and Cook arrived in New Zealand, our ancestors were a stone-age peoples - many of them cannibals. The Europeans traded metal tools and arms with Māori, gave them the beginnings of a written language, which many Māori have since tried to misinterpret. They also bred with Māori, creating the genetically modified peoples now collectively called Māori. That theory came out in 2010 and had nothing really to do with Stonehenge , rather Exeter University. In fact none of the stone balls were found anywhere near Stonehenge and were only found in some areas in Scotland. The theory hasn't really gained much support since. You are a bit out with the Stonehenge date as the first stage of Stonehenge , the Aubrey holes are about 3000 BC , although there are 3 fairly close postholes that date to between 8500 to 7500 BC.

I don't really agree with his assertions but the mystical origins of the Maori people are incredibly fascinating. Some iwi were already here, some came from an unknown homeland. Some definitely made it all the way to South America in such antiquity that they lost the memory of it except in legends. The ariki were akin to druids, magical priests highly in tune with the spiritual world. Able to do things seemingly super-natural. Holders of antedeluvian knowledge and masters of the stars. The acknowledgement of the pledian star system in Maori culture is another fascinating aspect of this as its such a commonly noticed system in UFOology.

Quite a history about the Maori - put the Inca's or the Aztecs to shame in degeneration. Outcast during the 13th century as weaker primitive Neolithic people by the invading Hawaiians & Tongans (Maori were from the original wave of primitive Asian/Melanesians pushed right out across the Eastern Pacific by successive stronger more advanced races coming from the west). They were outcast on rafts and some floated up in NZ stranded for 500 years. The weaker were pushed down to the South Island or Chathams etc. So the South Island Maori (had their own language) were the weakest of the weak. They were captured and eaten as 'Slave flesh' by the northern Maori doing raids. (Well they all ate each other - 80% of Maori pre European were dark skinned easily fattened slaves farmed and eaten by a lighter skinned 'Ariki' thin wiry elite royal caste). So it was with some righteousness as well as British cunning that they armed the southern Maori who then with muskets launched a genocidal war on the north.. That plus measles & flu halved the Maori population and removed most of the elite. The British then liberated the slaves and outlawed cannibalism. The northern Maori fought with the British against the south bad west Maori 'rebels'. The Maori sued for peace and a treaty was signed that removed all sovereignty and made them subjects to the English crown where the English would protect them from each other. Land could only be sold to or via the Crown. Maori could live on their reservations with native custom but none did. The treaty of Waitangi is strikingly clear in that the Maori cede sovereignty completely and become citizens of Great Britain - all 3 clauses lock that in. Nothing in today's 'Maori' culture is authentic. The music - all European (Maoris did not have tonal music, the songs are missionary tunes or introduced - Poi dance is from Islands and Stick dance from old Malaya. The carvings and art - all European - Arabesques that was the fashion at the time. Original Maori had limited dash carving and no painting of objects. No written language - all the syntax & grammar plus vowel inflection is European. No technology - some lagoon canoes and wood or stone Neolithic tools. No food sources - like pigs or crops - they left that all behind, all they had was a weak inbred fox (now extinct), some rats and a weak dismal pacific yam. They ate out all the bird-life, didn't know how to farm the sea as were island people and so they turned to societal cannibalism. Today - no full blood or half blood left. No genuine tradition and almost all are offspring of Maori slave females sold to white settlers for muskets or food. -So more fake than the 'Sioux' or 'Cherokee' or 'Crow' who had at least retained some genuineness about who they were and their history. -Everything you 'saw or experienced' is Fake. A totally convected disneyfied tokenistic set of inventions fueled by a grievance culture of mixed-race imposters fetishing a false past bad history because it pays benefits. @@darkcrystal438 okay & the white man stole the lands from the Maori who have been preoccupying for generations beyond eons so. If you wanna start with the stealing let’s look at yesterday’s history , or last weeks history or 100 years ago history , because tryna state back facts from 1000s of years ago where you don’t even know your own whakapapa where we know our own says a lot . @ JA: In what way does this information discredit Maori? It is stated by many Maori that they arrived here somewhere between 600 and 1,000 years ago (none being sure of the exact time) and that there were no other inhabitants. Do you mean that, because some Maori assert that they were the first inhabitants of New Zealand, they are now being discredited. If this is so, then those Maori only have themselves to blame. What is most naive, in fact bordering on the ridiculous, is to assert that these islands were never inhabited by any other peoples during the preceeding 4,000 - 6,000 years. Ignorance can be cured by knowledge, but there is no cure for idiocy.
