ANCIENT ROME 1: The Etruscans and the Roman Kingdom
The first great civilization of Italy was that of the Etruscans. These inhabitants of Tuscany expanded throughout the Italian north while Rome was only a small village. However, this small Latin town would grow over time. According to the myth of origin, the city was founded by two twin brothers called Romulus and Remus.
Rome began being a monarchy, with seven legendary kings (since it is not known if they are real or a legend). The city was growing, adorning itself with the Temple to Jupiter, the one of Diana or the one of Vesta. Also raised a huge Circus Maximus or sewer system of the Cloaca Máxima, built by King Lucius Tarquinius Priscus.
In addition, an organized politics in curias was also established, where the aristocratic class, the patricians, along with the Senate, could vote laws, declare wars or even elect the king of the city. All this would make in the year 509 a.C. This monarchical system would change after the reign of Lucius Tarquinius Superbus to a pseudo democracy called the Republic.
