Very wise of Momin not to take an apprentice if he felt he wasn't up for it yet. He defeated his master, and easily could've taken an apprentice(to bad he never could) then felt he needed to be wiser. Always the damn Jedi, destroying works of Sith art and culture... Issue 22 was absolutely amazing, and in so many ways. Momin's own beliefs echo classic Sith teachings, with his own unique twists as an artist to them. Sith (at least in Legends) always strove to become the perfect being, but perfection doesn't exist so you must never be complacent and try to become better; "If people feel nothing when encountering something you have created…then you have created nothing” reminds me of Legends!Palpatine's "A master without an apprentice is a master of nothing"; comparing the Dark SIde to a flame was common in the Darth Bane trilogy, and hunger and fuel evoke Darth Nihilus. I am extremely happy with this issue, and our first real glimpse of the Ancient Sith, whatever specific era these belong to. The Darth Vader comics very rarely disappoint. I'll be sad to see it end after this arc.
@GreaterGrievobeast556 жыл бұрын
I still can't get over how Quickly I've come to love the artist Sith! Even though he's canon he would fit right into legends as well I'd think. With a story as subtle as it is revealing and dark. The fact he never got the title of Darth and kept the name momin and th fact that the Sith continued without him getting an apprentice tells us he must have been pre rule of two. Perhaps he was part of the canon equivalent of the brother hood of darkness before he butchered shaw and went his own path, and he was seen as a heretic for being to ahead of the other Sith around him? So many questions It is odd to see a Sith like him not at all concerned with conquering the Galaxy or getting revenge he just wan so create morbid master pieces, ableit ones on genocidal and reality warping levels which might have been another reason he was souned by other Sith. Might have been a bit too much of a loose canon being so revealing. I wonder how legends AINCEnt Sith would have reacted to him like malgus or Exar kun. Wonder how good he was a lightsaber fighting too he beat shaw fairly it seemed so he must be pretty good
@Aereto6 жыл бұрын
Odds are his precision with the saber came from the dissection and probable vivisection when he makes his art. That comes to another question what style does he use to fight when needed.

Dude, being a Sith is about accumulating as much power as you can in your lifetime. Some have done so and died as they wished. Others have fallen in pain and hate at the hands of Jedi or rivals. And then the last kind have died happy and accepting of their life and fate like Darth Marr and Darth Vectivus. Tbh, I would conquer a star system or if I'm feeling bold, an entire sector and then forge a small Sith Empire or Kingdom 😁😎

@spritecollcterFTW6 жыл бұрын
Its entirely possible. I could honestly see that perhaps in the moment of his consumption by his own 'art', he merged his energies with his mask similar to how Exar Kun did to the Yavin temple in Legends. or maybe it was similar to the Sith Karness Murr in the Vector arc in Legends, how he imbued his life force into a talisman that would allow him to haunt the minds of those who wore it.

That is because Sidious' knowledge and power in the dark side exceed any sith that came before. Even Momin with his uniqueness has no power over Sidious. That's the key reason why Sidious wanted Anakin and later Luke as his apprentice, because other force users wouldn't have even been capable of learning all the things he had to teach, and his intent was immortality and co-ruling the galaxy forever with his apprentice.

Snoke's black ring is linked to Vader's castle. I can't help but feel more and more like somehow...this ancient Sith is linked to Snoke as well. I almost wonder if Snoke's death in Last Jedi was not a death at all. Momin is obviously interested in a place or realm where the dead can be brought back or contacted, hence his comments about Padme. Perhaps Snoke's ring, being made from the same obsidian as Vader's castle, is itself a key to this "purgatory" and allows Snoke to essentially become immortal...a link to the world of the living. I don't like the new direction, but the current writers sure do get the Sith. The writing and story styles aren't all that, but the "outside lore" if you will gives it the kind of meat I read in the Bane books. Perhaps they might make more fringe dark side orders...or ACTUALLY GET TO SNOKE AND REN. CAN WE PLEASE SEE ANYTHING WHATSOEVER REGARDING THE BELIEFS OF THE KNIGHTS OF REN BEFORE THIS TRILOGY ENDS? It's like the "current" time is a cancer. There is such a void of intriguing philosophical Force users. Rey is (at best) an amateur hero whose ideal is "do good, kill evil". Ren is a conflicted crusader without his needed creed explained. People CAN write this new EU stuff. So don't leave it to idiots like Rhian and JJ. I don't want/believe in the fucking mystery box. Give me a good showing as to the powers behind the First Order. I knew the Poe comics covered post TLJ, it's not bad but I'm personally most interested in the Force users. I understand what you mean, they shouldn't spoil potential plot or tread on the directors toes when he's making the movie. But something small at least, even that confirmation that they were students (I agree with you on that speculation) would be better than nothing at all save one picture in a flashback. We have external lore like the Bendu, Poe, Battlefront 2 and such being written. We got the silly Snoke ring thing too. To me these two things show that they can write peripheral lore, and can sort of cover background to the films to a small extent. It shouldn't have been a damn ring for a now dead character. All I'm saying is a little hint to their beliefs, not even anything major would go a long way. Hopefully you can see where I'm coming from here. Government and crime wise I'm less frumpy, but I would like to know more about the game changers that have always been the biggest faction focus in series.

Since I saw only Momin and his master its easy to assume that he lived during the rule of two sith era

He did not take apprentice on his own, so the Sith would disappear forever if it was during post-Bane era

It's actually only possible that it takes place before the Rule of Two. Because Momin never took an apprentice. And if he took no apprentice, then the Sith would have died with him. Therefore there had to have been other Sith around.

Not all Sith talk and knew what each excalty we're doing. His Master could have easily took a Apprentice without talking to other Sith Lords and they discover him after his fall.

Is it me or is 3:18 bad fight choriography? The shot shows the master should have won by cutting Momen in the stomach.

Yes, that fight scene was more than a little contrived. No sith master worth their salt should have been taken out simply by being challenged to a duel. Sidious remarked in one of the novels that the sith order had largely evolved beyond the need for lightsabers, but still used them to humiliate the jedi. A true master would have put the upstart apprentice down with a force ability, or perhaps the "apprentice" would have been chagrined to suddenly realize he'd already been poisoned, the master being canny enough to realize his intentions. It's the one real flaw in Momin's otherwise well written back story.
