I had someone tell me the other day that the Endowment was not had anciently(they just hadn't known much information on that subject). When Dr. Einar C. Erickson's son was going through the Temple for his own endowment, he told his father that he had already known almost all of the information he was given there by studying the ancient documents his father had been sharing with him.

That is wonderful. My wife and I recently experienced my faughter and son getting their endowments and my daughter asked some questions that I didnt have the answer for, because I have a testimony I just accepted the temple ceremony. In this video, we have the answers to her questions. Great work brother! Its such a testimony of the truth and restored church. Blessings!

I have been a lover of Hugh Nibley for years. I have tried to express what I knew to my children. I have tried showing them they pictures in Nibley‘s books, but a lot of people are not interested in reading Hugh Nibley. When I heard about Queen Elizabeth’s initiation rights, I burst out in tears! This video explains so many truths in our endowment and in a media that all can understand. When Christ tells us that He will share his throne with us, He is not kidding. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

Fantastic info. Thank you! I just finished Anthony Sweat's book The Holy Covenants. There is a great thought in there that applies well to what you have shared: ""We shouldn't presume to think that what we do in the temples today is exactly what Adam and Eve did, nor Abraham, Moses, or Solomon. If the endowment is the gift, the presentation of the endowment is the packaging to deliver the gift. The gift can be wrapped and delivered in vaious ways by God and His servants." While we can see MANY similarities, we don't need to force it. We will find them but can also understand that the wrapping will be different for our day and situation.

There’s a lot of it, and it is SO crafty and convincing at times. These videos are one of the many tools I’ve searched for and in return have helped me so much. I’ve learned so much here. God is in control even though at times (and the one thing I often struggle with so much) He seems so quiet. I know that the scriptures are true when they say that those who “seek…shall find” and those who “ask, shall it be opened unto”. I pray for you and others to keep the faith, as faith is one of the MOST necessary keys of religion, of God, of eternal perspectives. I hope my ramblings don’t hurt anyone reading this, we are truly in this together in our humble numbers.

Wow - I had to go check that out! Here is Acts 1:1-3 in the Geneva Bible: 1 I have made the former treatise, O Theophilus, of all that Jesus began to do and teach, 2 Until the day that he was taken up, after that he through the holy Ghost, had given commandments unto the Apostles, whom he had chosen. 3 To whom also he presented himself alive after that he had suffered, by many infallible tokens, being seen of them by the space of forty days, and speaking of those things which appertained to the kingdom of God. You are right - the KJV has infallible “proofs”, rather than infallible “tokens”. Thanks for sharing - this is really fascinating!

Thanks for your comment. Sorry the pace of the video being a little too fast - I have done that on a handful of videos when I had a lot of material to cover and trying to keep the length of the video still attractive for a large audience (but probably should have just let the video go longer and slowed the speech). One solution that works well on KZbin is to change the playback setting. If you click on the settings (the wheel icon in the bottom right corner of the video screen itself on a computer, or if on a phone its the top right corner 3 dots), you can select the playback speed and you slow things down in increments (the next step down from normal would be .75x or 25% slower). You can also choose the “custom” button and choose a precise speed desired rather than the pre-defined suggestions.

I first went to the temple in 1965 to be married. At that time there were no temple preparation classes. We were young. My parents had not been to the temple. We went, not knowing ANYTHING! When we got home we had a short discussion about our experience. I thought and said something like, “I have no idea about anything I experienced that day! But, I know the church is true and the knowledge of these things must be somewhere in the scriptures. I have a lot of studying to do.” It’s now October, 2023; It’s been more than 58 years. I am just now learning about the signs and symbols of the temple. Finally, after all these years. My husband has passed away before this knowledge. I don’t know why, but since October 7, 2023 I have an un-quenching thirst and hunger to listen to podcasts from many LDS members and scholars. I’m learning! I’m beginning to understand why so many have said through the years how much they loved the temple! Even though I’m old in years, I am an infant learning the language of the temple. I have so much more to learn. Thank you! My eyes and ears are being opened to some of the “mysteries” of God. I feel very grateful and blessed.

Most of Egypt's greatest advancements came during the time when Joseph and his family ruled it. It makes perfect sense that this is when the Lord would have set these temple rites up so prominently there. What many don't realize as well is that the seed of Jacob already began to spread to other parts of the world before the Exodus, including the resettlement of Canaan. The land of Israel was a province of Egypt at that time fully participating with Joseph's government. See the Hyksos people.

The First Presidency issued this statement when the latest changes happened in the Temple endowment: With the restoration of the gospel in these latter days, temple worship has also been restored to bless the lives of people across the world and on the other side of the veil as well. Over these many centuries, details associated with temple work have been adjusted periodically, including language, methods of construction, communication, and record-keeping. Prophets have taught that there will be no end to such adjustments as directed by the Lord to His servants. I will also add a few thoughts: There is a difference between the ordinance of the endowment vs how that ordinance may be taught or presented. The doctrine will stay the same (or even be built upon as His children grow in understanding), but practices can and will be altered or as Joseph Smith said ‘adapted to the circumstances in which the children of the kingdom are placed’ (Teachings, p256; see also D&C 1:24) I would also refer you to the video I did called Doctrines, Opinions & Practices - Sorting It All Out, in which I present more on this topic.

You're setting up a false requirement that assumes that revelation comes to us neatly wrapped and complete, and that any change must prove that the revelation is false, or whatever. The LDS temple rites and all other revelation, although inspired, come to us through the filter of the cultural context of the time and through the cognitive/spiritual-process of the individual receiving the revelation. The central themes of the ordinances, i.e. making covenants and dedicating oneself to God, are always there, but the verbiage and other cultural characteristics can totally be adjusted as culture changes and perhaps even a few bugs are worked out. Isn't that the way you receive inspiration in your own life? Why would it be any different for the leaders of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. You are definitely making a Straw Man argument, setting up a false requirement. Revelation is fluid, line-upon-line. The temple and its ceremonies are amazingly powerful symbols that help us stay on the right path in a world which constantly tries to blow us off course.

@@latterdaysaintsqa Im still confused as why would an important ordinance be different and changed. Does this mean they were doing it wong before? If we did what they use to do now would the ordinance still be accepted in the eyes of heavenly father? Why or why not? Im just confused why he would have us do it one way and be considered very important and then be changed. It seems like if baptism was changed from emersion to just a sprinkle on the head. I hope this comes across as genuine as I really am confused.

Yikes - that is a scary question to ask me. I think some of my recent videos have had so much content I packed in that I felt like I had to move quickly to cover the material - but there is a downside to that as well. I did not watch this video. In fact, I didn’t even ask for it. However, I wanted to make the point that “Mormon” is just a nickname. The actual name of the church is the Church of JESUS CHRIST of Latter-Day Saints. The first article of faith of the church is, “We believe in God the Eternal Father, and in His Son, JESUS CHRIST, and in the Holy Ghost.” While “Mormons” are not considered either Catholic or Protestant, they are most definitely Christians, as they are followers of Christ. The church is led by a prophet, and 12 apostles who are special witnesses of JESUS CHRIST. Their testimonies of Christ are available here on KZbin: m.KZbin.com/watch?v=j6G1CtoJqQU Finally, I end with this quote from the book of Mormon found in the second book of Nephi, chapter 25 verse 26: “ And we talk of Christ, we rejoice in Christ, we preach of Christ, we prophesy of Christ, and we write according to our prophecies, that our children may know to what source they may look for a remission of their sins.“

In your chart comparing temple of Solomon to modern day temples, the celestial room should not be compared to the Holy of Holies. In every temple now there is a Holy of Holies were none but the general authority enter, it is not the celestial room.

Here is a link to the full article “Solomon’s Temple Compared to the Salt Lake Temple” by Ann Madsen published in 2015 by BYU Studies: rsc.byu.edu/eye-faith/solomons-temple-compared-salt-lake-temple Here are the summary bullet points from her article, which I shared on that slide in the video: •As we consider Solomon’s Temple, we are surrounded by symbols. The decor in the large room called the Holy Place of that temple is comparable to the garden rooms in our modern temples, decorated with trees, flowers, and fruits, but there they are all of gold. •The temples of this day move through several more rooms to accommodate the additional ordinances that were yet to be revealed in this dispensation of the fulness of times. Consider the progression through these rooms, ending in a room above the rest representing the celestial kingdom •The celestial rooms in modern temples and the Holy of Holies in ancient temples both symbolize the presence of God. • The lack of a one-to-one correlation of rooms in the temple of Solomon when compared to the Salt Lake Temple shows the distinctly different functions of the two buildings. Most strikingly, perhaps, there is no killing of animals to be sacrificed on an altar outside the Salt Lake Temple. I do like her comparison of the presence of God which is represented by the Celestial Room today, and was anciently represented by the Holy of Holies in Solomon’s Temple.
@ak8990
@ak8990 3 жыл бұрын
@@latterdaysaintsqa Thank you, while I understand where she is coming from, I just happen to disagree. While the celestial room is representative of the celestial kingdom and by thus entering into God's presence for Latter day Saints, it isn't the most sacred place in our temples. I knew that the Salt Lake City Temple had a Holy of Hollies (where the Prophet and Apostles sometimes meet to discuss very sacred things and is viewed as being in the Presence of God), but when I became a temple worker in my own temple, I asked if this temple too had a Holy of Hollies or if it was just a Salt Lake Temple thing. I was told, yes, every temple has a Holy of Hollies but they just don't highly publicize it. They even told me where the room was located in our temple but we were instructed never to enter it. Now, I have no idea if recent temples constructions still include this, I can only say what I was told at that time. Though I wouldn't view everything on wikipedia as the final word (or even the most accurate version) on the matter, they even mention about the correlation between our Holy of Hollies in the temple to the ancient Holy of Hollies of ancient Israel: "In The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church), the Holy of Holies or Holiest of Holies is a room in the Salt Lake Temple wherein the church's president-acting as the Presiding High Priest of the church-enters to act as High Priest of Israel in direct relationship with God, in accordance with the LDS interpretation of the Book of Exodus.[1] Hence, this Holy of Holies in the temple is considered by adherents to be a modern cognate to the inner sanctuary of the Tabernacle and Temple in Jerusalem." en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Holy_of_Holies_(LDS_Church)

Thank you for your comment and encouragement! Btw, my name is Jeff Roundy, which I share in my trailer video but don’t take the time to say at the start of each video. Sorry for the pace of the video, I agree it was a bit rushed as I had a lot of material I wanted to cover yet wanted to keep the video length to a certain range for other viewership considerations (but like you said that also comes with consequences). One solution that can help on KZbin is to change the playback setting.

Non-Mormon here, there is a temple being built nearby (within a half days drive anyhow) in Grand Junction Co. From what I've heard, when a new temple is built there is some kind of breif "open house" period where a Gentile such as myself could tour certain rooms or portions. Is that true? I would love to see the inside of a temple. Also, I wish to be respectful if I am able to take the alleged tour. Could a faithful Mormon perhaps give me a list of guidelines that I might abide by? Or is that not really necessary as a tour guide will direct me in what is appropriate? Either way, open house or no open house, the building itself is shaping up to be spectacular. Thanks.

Thank you for your interest and I believe you will have a special experience taking the open house tour. It looks like the temple is a little over a year a way from completion. As it gets close, there will be details about the open house period and a link to make reservations. Typically active members are there as tour guides or on-site to answer questions and there are signs describing the purpose of what you are looking at along the tour. Here is the link for the Grand Junction Colorado Temple and you can keep checking back here for the timing of the open house and a link for making reservations: churchofjesuschristtemples.org/grand-junction-colorado-temple/

Very enjoyable. Mostly. As I have seen other people comment, please, please slow your speech. I know you have a lot to cover. It is easy to pause the video and and study a document you put up, but your rapid fire delivery takes away from the presentation. it reminds me of those who stand in prayer circles, ( and oft times even offer the prayers), and repeat the words as though they were in a speed constant with someone. Other than that, I loved it. One more detail. I suggest you pan the camera out a bit and have more and longer eye contact with us. All part of making the whole delivery more meaningful and enjoyable.
