The Roman portrait of the unknown man is so representational, the sculptor really brought him to life.

If you're still in New England, you should visit RISD art museum in Providence. It's a smaller museum than Boston, but still has some great pieces.

Love the MFA. I’m surprised you didn’t show the ancient coin gallery that is absolutely amazing with hundreds of Greek and Roman coins as well as some Celtic, near East, and others

I spent the better part of an hour there. Unfortunately, coins don't show up well on video.

Absolutely beautiful. I've been wanting to return to the MFA for a while. So many astoundingly well preserved works I never knew were housed there. Especially the Juno statue being our country's largest held classical statue. I noticed a Hadrian bust you hadn't touched upon, is it a replica? Hope you have a great time here in MA❤🏛

I live in the Boston area and the MFA is great. In the Greek section they have the Hesione Vase, which depicts Hercules rescuing Hesione from the monster Cetus, and they are both throwing rocks at it. What’s interesting is that Cetus is portrayed as a fossil animal skull. The museum incorrectly describes it as belonging to either a whale or giraffe, but it isn’t even a mammal. It belongs to some sort of giant prehistoric monitor lizard. The skull clearly shows it having a schlerotic eye ring (certain bones in the eye) which mammals do not have. Other features are also clearly in line with those of monitor lizards as well

This gallery used to contain the MFA's great Old Kingdom Egyptian masterpieces but they were moved to storage or a crowded, low-ceiling gallery in the back of the Museum because a rich donor said "Greece is the pinnacle of civilization so it should be on the top floor." Except for the Juno statue with the head that doesn't belong to it, nothing is of the scale that requires this space. To diplace and deep six their world class Egyptian collection to please one donor is a scandal.

I'm just amazed that people would believe that smashing a nose "kills" a statue. How come humanity throughout the ages HAS to believe in some sort of mythology in order to function. This is going on right now in most places of the planet. That's the question that I have had in my mind since I was a teen.

you must have a strange demograpghic in your audience as no one is claiming these items should be retruned to their rightful homelands..i guess that would be shaky ground for any american colonist as the land they live in has been taken from the original inhabitants by force too !
