I looked for this last night as there were a dozen beer crates at a local auction up for bidding. Had I found it, I would have purchased all of them. You can't believe how many variations I had to type into google to get here. It kept giving me video's on how to clean or restore, but none of them had how to do the lettering. My search today was how to BRIGHTEN old beer case lettering. Don't include vintage, antique, or wood. I took the best lot with one case that had decent ghost lettering, but no bottom and some rot. I'm going to make signs out of it. This will certainly enhance them! The other two I might be able to do this if I get enough light on it to make it out. Those are in good shape, but the lettering is very faint. Probably sat in the sun more. Thanks for this, I knew they were inked, not painted on. I have seen it where people paint them which the others do, but it never looks the way it did, it's too obvious.

Very nice to bring them back to life but they will never them be authentic original. Although with a worn case like this it could be the best outcome

Hmm. Wouldn't a wood burning pen work better than ink?

If the original one was branded in, yes. But they are painted usually in a black or red.

With red lettering do you stick with sharpie brand? Also would doing this to a highly collectible beer crate lower the worth?
