although it was a pretty small part of the game, the Waterworks has such an amazing atmosphere, its theme is haunting and beautiful, and gave me shivers the entire time playing through it, especially the climax at 4:44

I hope the devs see what people liked and expand on it. I want this atmosphere and even more grand in one self contained dungeon, similar to Ancient Cistern

The fact that It gave us OOT water temple vibes, when we see the Pillar in the middle and the fact that we must increase the water level to reach the objective, gave me chills

Oh you had to do that ? I couldn't find where I could do it, so I just fused all the planks that were around and used it as a bridge It was dumb but it worked well 😭

would’ve been cool if the ancient zora waterworks was a puzzle that unlocked a massive underground dungeon in a cave beneath zora’s domain. wells and their underground springs are a big thing in the game already so it’s a natural continuation, plus completing a quartet of dungeons in the sky/depths/surface/caves. it also tracks with past water temples being underground/underwater

Yeah, I’m a little disappointed with the Water Temple tbh, that’s why it’s my least favorite, but it was still okay, but just that: okay.

It would be fitting because each regional temple would be in a different place. Wind in the sky Fire in the Depths Water in a cave Lightning on the surface

It just would’ve been more fitting. Especially since there’s a fresh water spring at the top of Ploymous Mountain. They could’ve explained it like that, and then the Water Temple would still be the Great Wellspring of Hyrule or whatever. They could’ve even had the inside of the mountain or cavern be low gravity still.

Its like... combination of EVERY previous water temple and dungeon put together. So somber... whispering i the wind of ages past... of the older games. And forgotten places where our hero our threaded all those years ago! :D

This is definitely one of my favorite tracks in the game, behind the rito music. It sounds just like something out of Narnia

If the water temple was like the ancient waterworks i think everyone would have liked it much better. Rather then the floating anti gravity islands we got.

Agreed. I really liked navigating the twisting, narrow waterways, as opposed to just seeing all 4 puzzles out in the open

I think it would have definitely been cool, and for the puzzles it definitely would have worked better, but I really liked the anti-gravity area as well. I also think that the water temple being ancient and abandoned Zora waterworks would have been nice atmospherically, but it being in the sky was weird and unique and I kind of liked it the way it was.

If you compare it to the other three (full) temples, it seems out of place. The Rito dungeon is in the sky, the Goron dungeon is in the depths underneath a volcano, and the Gerudo dungeon is on the surface in a huge desert temple. Where they put the Zora dungeon seems like an afterthought like, "where do we put the water temple??" "uhh, idk, put it in the sky!" when putting it in a cave behind a waterfall or underneath a whirlpool would make so much more sense.

I agree. The Water Temple should have been some sort of fountain spouting all of the muck everywhere, rather than letting it fall from the sky. It would have made much more sense that way.

THIS TRACK AND MINIDUNGEON HAD ME IN A CHOKEHOLD IT WAS SO COOL AND SO BEAUTIFUL THE FEELING OF "You've stumbled into something truly ancient and powerful and sad that had slumbered for a long time" AHGKSHGLKHSHD ALSO The wispy choir in the background?? The sound and even one part of the melody is sUPER reminiscent of the theme that plays when you're dead and looking for your body in World of Warcraft. I didn't play for long but I loved Night Elves so I always played Night Elf and got used to associating that sound with the Wisps they turn into in death/that farm materials in Warcraft 3,,, so playing this dungeon had me feeling like I was reaching deep into the secrets of nature and I'm so sad there wasn't more lore to this dungeon bc,,, wow. I just loved this.

Used to have that too, until I realized lizalfos and water octoroks are the only ones underwater that can cause (direct) harm.

I think that would be a _really_ cool challenge/mechanic, a mysterious entity that instakills you in certain depths and places so that you aren't entirely free to explore outside the general path. It's what BOTW/TOTK completely lack IMO

I haven't even played Skyward Sword myself but I got that feeling too!! The music just feels,, close to the Goddess Hylia?? Like, reminiscent of places built in dedication to her/trials she left. Or the music when Fi translates messages for Link? It just feels like the vibe of "it won't hurt you so don't panic, but you're not entirely alone, but there's also noone else in the room." Like: "be reverent, you are only the first to come here in a long time, others have come before"

@@MistyShnekin You should definitely play Skyward Sword. It has amazing dungeons, music, characters, and story. The final fight at the end is one of the best in the whole series.

The way it sounds really reminds me of those etherial moments in Nausicaa of the Valley or Laputa. Imo Botw and Totk are actual games that makes you feel very similar as if you're walking in those ghibli movies. (P.S and yeah, weirdly it's not as similar to princess mononoke. Sure, i see design and story similarities, as well as some characters, and whole aura of "nature" but still...those moments in game feel more like otherwordly, same as nausicaa or laputa described ancient people or gods)
