I’m Catholic, but I said a prayer for you. I converted after similar experiences, and it took years, beginning with my prayers. God helped me meet a sponsor and even bring another lost soul to classes with me who ended up getting baptized as well. Pray, and give God permission to upset your life to make whatever changes he needs to to help you, and then, when he does, trust him and don’t let it scare you. Just ask for strength and courage to obey and endure. God bless you, and merry Christmas!

Thank you 🙏🏼 I am a Protestant of 30 years and admire Orthodoxy. I have struggled with the question as to whether I could ever become Orthodox, if I am uncomfortable with icon veneration, and praying to anyone other than the Father, as our Savior taught us. I would not be able to compromise on these topics. I just wonder if this would make me “fail the catechumen final exam“… or how that even works.

Kevin, if you are sincere, there is no want of good books you can pick up. Every convert was at one time exactly where you are 😊. I can only tell you I have been in the Orthodox Church for two years and I have FINALLY received the healing I have needed for so long. The Orthodox of Church is often referred to as a hospital. Like the Inn that the good Samaritan took the man to.

Better yet, pray to the Father, through His son Jesus Christ, as our Savior taught us to. At the end of the day, this is about restoring the relationship with the Father that was severed in the Garden. ♥️

Yikes praying to icons and the "mother of God"! You need to reach your Bible and see how offensive this is to God. There's only one God and Christ Jesus is His only begotten Son,ONE with the Father. Is not three plus mama ,plus saints! We pray only to God I'm sorry you don't understand this basic! I suppose it's images that copy the pagan and ritualistic practices. Sadly sadly in ancient times. This church lost its simplicity became a hierarchal structure copying the world and becoming involved in politics throughout Europe! By force maybe, but this should not be . Understand the holy word of God. As Auca tribes people do. I encourage you to look into ,ITech Among these peoples and how far they have, and they're understanding pure and biblical! Look to Jim and Elizabeth Elliot , missionaries and and their children still serving In the pure word of God taught through great sacrifice. I challenges to look up Mr. Nate Saint and Steve Saint. And their lifetime service in the jungles and beyond. Five Devoted women and their families. Serving the Lord all their lives and foreign mission fields. Please don't remain in your isolation. Go into all the world and preach the gospel!

You're fighting for a lost cause. He wants to remain sequestered away, and preach to people (who are out in the real world) from the safety of that enclosure. While charging ridiculous amounts of money for 'retreats.' Trying to pry that comfort blanket from his hands will not work, he will grasp onto it all the more. I was a cloistered aspirant nun. All is not as it seems with these people.

I share your theology and your understanding of what is appropriate, and inappropriate. But please remember to be charitable. Our brothers and sisters in Orthodoxy are still our brothers and sisters in Christ. They struggle with looking at us in the same way. There are things in Evangelicalism that are abhorrent that I could mention. Lead with love and admonish with kindness and humility.

@@saladfingers.- Saladfingers, in my experience, broad generalizations like this are always wrong on some level.

All I’m going to ask is: Who gave you that Bible that you are trying to live by? Before you believe in the book, shouldn’t you check the author of it first, and the one who told you that it is the word of God? It’s the same church that you are judging and slandering right now.
