One of the most thrilling historical novels that follows the life of Alexander the Great during his legendary campaign to avenge the Persian invasions in Greece, is “The Virtues of War” by Steven Pressfield. Truly epic.

I don't believe that Antiochus fell in love with Stratonice. Seleucus definitely wanted to make Antiochus his heir but Stratonice's presence could be challenging if she gave birth to a son. Also, Greek rulers looked down upon Persians so probably Greek rulers wouldn't be respectful of Antiochus that much. By giving Stratonice to Antiochus, he fulfilled Stratonice's ambition of getting a younger husband and being a Queen Mother, meanwhile Antiochus ws saved from machinations of step mother.

Stratonice was initmate with both father and son. It would be so awkward if Seleucus halted at Antiochus' residence. 🤢 Stratonice was mother of Seleucus' daughter so it isn't easy to forget the moments spent in night. Gosh, it hurts my tummy. 🤢🫠

The love of Antioco and Estranoice seems to me to be one of the most romantic and poetic. I have the feeling that they sincerely loved each other. And I believe that Antiochus was as effective a king as he was a great father; without a doubt the death of Seleucus Jr. would have caused immense pain and difficult to recover from that blow. Estranoice would probably have told him something like Since you killed my son - with tears in your eyes - you killed his mother, you killed your wife. After that there would have been a separation, as is logical to think, but in the end before his death they would have reconciled but it would have been hard for both, since they would begin to question themselves where they failed and they would surely have drawn the conclusion that the family and the People are corrupted by power.

@@nikolamilinovic1230 I don't believe this happened, Seleucus wanted Antiochus to succeed due to him having Apama's Persian genes which would make him more acceptable to the native people. Also, if Stratonice would give birth to a boy, she would want him to succeed , making an enemy for Antiochus. He didn't want things to go down which later happened with Antiochus Theos. So, he found the solution, he arranged for Stratonice and Antiochus' marriage, Antiochus as a dutiful son took blame for this weird decision all on himself meanwhile Stratonice was forced to accept this decision. Though Seleucus was old he was still a Greek while Antiochus was half Sogdian, Stratonice wouldn't be too thrilled even if Antiochus was younger. Antiochus' love and Stratonice being the sole Queen in power made this decision tolerable for her. 🫠

Maybe Antiochus killed his son because Stratonice was conspiring to kill Antiochus and make her son the King although it would be her son only who would ascend the throne. Hmm...a conspiracy theory or its also possible Antiochus thought that Seleucus wasn't his child. 😮 Well, the reason can be anything but Antiochus killing Seleucus reminds of Suleiman killing Mustafa and Var Git Olum playing in background.

5:45 Lol, Antiochus lifting Stratonice in the air. Considering Seleucus was sceptical that Stratonice would fight his decision of giving her to Antiochus, probably Stratonice preferred an old Greek man over a half Sogdian young man. 🤔 And if we see mosaic found in Syria and their coins, Seleucus was more handsome than Antiochus. 😂

Αντίοχος Antiochos Why the "k" pronounciation? Its simple "h" as in the word 'horizon'. Antio - hos basically. Edit: I swear English only make things worse. Why they even change his original name's suffix? From "-os" to "-us"? This is ridiculous. Its borderline a mockery. Imagine having a great character to be known with his name butchered as if deliberately. Imagine: Gaies Julias Cizar.
