The temple of Seti: • WHO WAS SETI I? Seti’s...
Valley of the Kings:
The 18th dynasty tombs: • Inside AMAZING TOMBS o...
The 19th dynasty tombs: • THE VALLEY OF THE KING...
The 20th dynasty tombs: • THE VALLEY OF THE KING...
Let’s get inside the deepest and the longest tomb in the Valley of the Kings! Although filming there is allowed only with a special permission, I managed to take my camera inside and now can show you not only the main section of the tomb, but also parts normally closed for the visitors.
Seti I, the second pharaoh of the 19th dynasty, also known as Seti the Great designed for himself one of the most spectacular burial structures ever made, known today as KV17. It is the first tomb with a complete set of religious texts including the Litany of Ra, the Book of the Dead, the Imydwat, Opening the mouth ritual, the Book of Gates, the Book of the Heavenly Cow, and astronomical scenes. Seti’s tomb is also the most completely decorated with exceptional, painted raised reliefs and a wonderful burial chamber known as “the House of Gold”.
Discovered by Belzoni, later restored and examined by Howard Carter, the tomb had been initially found intact, according to Giovanni Battista Belzoni upon opening the tomb, ancient paint brushes were still lying under the reliefs! Unfortunately, the 19th century was a little bit like the Wild West archeological-wise so the tomb didn’t avoid damages.
Aaand did you know about the mysterious tunnel recently excavated by Doctor Zahi Hawass?
Let’s go!
Explored in February 2023.
It's a must-see video for all of you, who visit Egypt or Luxor - the ancient Thebes for the first time. To appreciate and cherish the magic of the place before you travel to Egypt watch this. My vlog / full documentary will give you a little taste of ancient wonders: ancient architecture, ancient beliefs, and ancient history.

I was in this tomb many years ago. As I've told people about it over the years I've become suspicious that I might be exaggerating the truth in my fantastical description of the place. Now I see that I have overcompensated! It's even more amazing than I remembered. I have just started watching your presentations. They are very, very good. Love your voice and the atmospheric soundtracks.

Excellent work Irena, I dont know how you film all of this without getting in trouble but somebody needs to do it for us all to see, you are a legend. It's a big shame about the vandalism by the looters and the damage from the flooding. I really hope you get to go further next time you visit. As always your narrating is perfect, you have such an intelligent mind and a vast memory and your voice is absolutely gorgeous everytime. Aaaaaahh! Should I? shouldn't I? FINALLY! Seti 1 tomb! I'm so happy for you, and us viewer's! I'm always so discusted by the looting 😝. It would have been amazing to see the tomb in its entirety, undamaged, and looted. I was particularly interested in the relief paintings/sculptures. Hopefully they will ease up on the " No Filming" area's and share these magnificent World Heritage site's with the rest of the world. It's a massively significant part of ALL human History. Great job! Lots of love. 🖖😁🤘🇨🇦

Near the valley of the kings is a village called al quorna, it's where the main people who stole from the tombs live and the first place archeologists and historians visit,at the end of a Ramadan some local lads asked me if I wanted to go out with them to celebrate, they took me to a bar there,I was amazed as I'd only read about the place 6 months earlier, the guy who owned the bar was the grandson of the man who found the first steps to Tutankhamen for Carter,he had the newspaper cuttings and photos everywhere, pinned up behind the bar I was stunned at finding myself there-I didn't buy any of the "antiquities" offered though!😂

I can understand the fascination with hill walking, but you have the experience and knowledge of how to be safe and prepared. Someone getting into it because it's trendy, will almost certainly not have the skills. Lots of people today are eager for the glory of an endeavor but don't have patience for the learning process.

Hi Irena, thanks for that great video. This tomb is really amazing, it´s unique. The sky of the Burial Chamber it´s wonderful, with the bull as the Big Dipper, Leo and Hydra down of Leo, the Decans and the 12 hours of the night. Just incredible. There´s a story with Tauret´s chains and the Big Dipper, to prevent it to dissapear on the horizon and keep it as Circumpolar Constellation. On a few months hope to see the sarcophag at the Sir John Soane Museum, an alabaster beauty. Thank U so much.

As a egyptologist this is the best site , I engoy explaining it to tourists, especially the tomb of Ramses 3rd because the story of the digging, because when they they started digging they broke into another tomb, which is the tomb of his father Setnakhat then they blocked it and the workers changed the direction to right side to avoid it , then they continued digging straight, Go ahead Ancient sites girl ‏‪👏

To continue our live chat. The Book of Gates has the same incorrect interpretation of death and entering the darkness through the 12 gates. It is really about leaving the heavens, to live as a human on Earth, and the 12 cycles of the stars that you have to experience, graduating through each gate and the god of each gates judgement. At the end, you return to the heavens. It's about reincarnation and learning as a human on Earth, not about death and entering the underworld, unless you consider coming to Earth as a death, fallen angel per se.

Thanks! I'll have to look at it. :)

I don’t think so, but explain and state your sources. They did not believe in reincarnation. In the afterlife, after the judgement, the soul was either devoured/ destroyed or went to a celestial ‘heaven’. Gods did come to Earth and returned to their celestial home(s). I think that mere humans hoped to follow them, hence the mythology and iconography.

I find so sad that ancient Egyptians were a great, powerful and rich civilization and modern Egyptians are so powerless that they couldn’t even protect the tombs of their ancestors, imagine being a pharaoh seeing how your people turned out over the years :(

The beginning of rebirth in heaven takes place in the constellation Leo. The birth of the earthly soul takes place in the constellation of Aries, the rebirth in the constellation of Taurus is completed when the heavenly soul is reborn. This is shown by images of lions, rams and bulls. In the constellation of the Dog, the earthly soul is waiting for the creation of a celestial body, this is shown by the images of dogs.

I very much doubt it. Given that any ‘prophecy’ is predictive programming and brainwashing, those who claimed to ‘prophesise’ should have been/ be punished by death. ‘Prophecies’ lead to all sorts of abominations like predestination and nullifying free will which is the very foundation of individual dignity/ responsibility/ freedom and moral law.

A bird is a soul, a bird is born from an egg and a soul is born from an egg, a snake in the symbolism of rebirth carries the egg of a soul bird to heaven.

How rude to film when you know it's not allowed

It's actually allowed with special permission. So it wasn't rude.

To ignore the rules which forbid filming is disrespectful - I've enjoyed your videos very much until this one - I don't wish to be associated with this selfish conduct and I'm un-subscribing.

I get that, but I just want to let you know that filming for a "simple tourists" is forbidden. It is allowed with a special permission from Cairo. Have a great day. :)
