There's a word usage that's puzzled me for a little. "So go and run now, chase the *sun* down, my time's just begun..." And visuals of Jayfeather, Lionblaze, and Hollyleaf are shown. "So go and turn your back on the *sun*." There's an image of Breezepelt. Breezepelt, Jayfeather, and Lionblaze are all Crowfeather's sons, and while Hollyleaf is a she-cat, she is still his kit. They make sense if you take the word sun as *son* instead (with the exception of Hollyleaf) and makes more sense considering the Three's "son/sun" is described as being chased by Crowfeather. Crowfeather had these kits with Leafpool, so they may be more representative of her rather than themselves. They represent Leafpool, and how he's "chasing" her, or just the memory of her and their relationship. Nightcloud would find this unfair because he's turning his back on Breezepelt's usage of sun, ignoring his mate and kits to dwell on his past ones. The word "sun" instead of "son" might be a typo, but you have to represent Hollyleaf as well, and she would not be a "son," but she is still shown onscreen. (Also, she says "the sun" instead of "sun," or even "suns," while plural suns would look more like a typo, and the addition of "the" sun makes it sound more like a reference to the real sun that shines in the sky, because "the" is singular and would be less likely to refer to the Three) So I turned to different lyrics. "My time's just begun" and "turn your back on the sun." Nightcloud's time starting could refer to her "stopping" chasing Crowfeather chasing his memories, allowing her to heal or show her own independence or power, or many different things. Turning his back on the sun could represent turning his back on Breeze, shunning him, his "son," especially since he's shown onscreen. But again, the word is *sun* instead of *son* used in *both* lines. The song really highlights the differences between Crow and Night (through how it's affecting her), how Crowfeather constantly "runs," trying to chase the past and past, happier times, while Night is in the present, trying to raise his kit, in a situation less ideal than Crow's past mates because they don't love each other, while Crow is stuck in the past. You could make cases for this point but you could possibly say that they're opposites. Crowfeather running; Nightcloud finally stopping (after chasing after him, but not willingly, while in the present). So what else are opposites? The day and *night.* *Night*cloud. Let's say the sun has the correct spelling and represents the actual sun. The sun brings the day, while when it leaves the night comes. Let's look at the line "so go and run now, chase the sun down, my time's just begun." Crowfeather is chasing the sun (opposite of the night, opposite of Nightcloud) while Nightcloud's time is just begun. Crowfeather is running after the sun, the day, while Nightcloud states the night has already begun. He's chasing the sun, which postpones the night, while he's in denial of the night, Nightcloud, because it's already started and he's running after the sun, trying to avoid it. He is running from his present with Nightcloud. This fits perfectly with the theme of the song. "So go and turn your back on the sun" implies rather the opposite of him running after the sun, trying to escape Nightcloud and her representative night, instead he's turning his back on the sun, which the previous line hinted he may have been chasing after. But this is Nightcloud's point of view, and it's more of an order rather than a statement. She is saying, "You go and turn your back on the sun." She's not saying he IS. (The previous line is an order as well, but it's more sarcastically giving permission because it's already too late the fact night has fallen is true.) So Nightcloud is telling him to stop running after the day, the sun, to turn his back on it and face the night and Nightcloud for once, because "he always runs." She's asking, telling, him to stop chasing after the opposite of Night, the day, probably the happier, "sunnier" past, and face the currently reality he always runs from. This is the possible meaning, and we don't have to assume "sun" was a typo. But you can't ignore the appearance of his kits (including all his sons) on all of those lines and how it could work with the meaning of "son" instead. So my conclusion? Blizemi just made the most depressing pun EVER.

OK but "I'm nursing battle scars"-- Nightcloud was probably the one who noticed when Breezepelt woke up in the night covered with new gashes from training in the Dark Forest. The one who tried asking him about it constantly and, Breezepelt being Breezepelt, got a surly response and nothing more. I can't help but think that this might be part of her overprotectiveness-- she doesn't know what Breezepelt's doing or what caused it, but she doesn't want to make it worse. She's trying to fix it, to find it out, and getting nothing so she sides with him, desperately tries everything to get her son to trust her. And it fails. I'm not trying to excuse Nightcloud's actions, or even say that this was the actual reason why, but it would explain a lot to me.

Not really mistreated, they were actually a pretty good family until leafpool and her kids came into the picture. Ever since Crowfeather defended leafpool and her kids the relationship started to break. Never did I read anything about Crowfeather ignoring his mate Nightcloud. He did ignore Breezepelt once though since his other son Loinblaze got a... some type of bird and gave Loinblaze a compliment instead of breezepelt. That was just that once though. I also have not read Crowfeather's trial though. So yup, time to read it.

*takes deep breath* *screams to StarClan* THIS IS A MASTERPIECE!!! Okay, first you did Just One Heartbeat, which is fighting with Walk Without the Stars for my favorite. Then you did All They See, which, though it wasn't my favorite, was still a fantastic song. AND THEN YOU DID THIS BEAUTIFUL WORK OF ART. Nightcloud isn't one of my favorites, but not only does Crowfeather's Trial promise possible reformation with her and Breezepelt (which I'm REALLY HOPING the Erins get right), this song made me see a side of her I normally throw under the rug because all I can see sometimes is the bad side of her. She truly loved Crowfeather, but was sick of his charades and lies, and stopped running after him. I still like Crowfeather, but this is one of the few times I've fully seen Nightcloud's story, and the one time it seems to have really clicked for me. So not only was this song fantastic in every single way, it made me appreciate Nightcloud and her character arc much more. So thanks for making a real work of art.

I really like All They See. If I had to give any song to my fanfiction where to two main characters (me and my girlfriend) are running/flying (my girlfriend can float and I have wings) away I would give it that song because that's how the city sees us when they find out the truth about why we ran away the first time and who our fathers were before they were arrested. What's a bit odd about this fanfiction is that it's in a bright time for the series and I'm adding a darker tint to it. Probably for more realism on what people can really be like at times.

See, when Crowfeather was talking to Leafpool after Lionblaze's and Breezepelt's battle for the thrush, Nightcloud dug her claws into him. This scene implies just how clingy Nightcloud is, but became sick of Crowfeather running after his past. According to my policy, if the guide contradicts what was said in the main series books, it's not canon, the books are. Similar to the misunderstanding that Firestar did not lose a life in the fox trap in Sunset. In After Sunset: The Right Choice, a story only available on the Warriors app, it says that Firestar did not lose a life. However, it says he did in Leafpool's Wish. Novellas override the app in my hierarchy of canon, meaning Firestar lost a life in Hawkfrost's fox trap plan. Of course, you can have your own hierarchy of canon, this is just my way of looking at things.

After reading Crowfeather's Trial, I actually feel bad for Breezepelt. What I see is Crow (for short) and Night never loved eachother. But after the stoat drama (sorry spoilers XD) Crow and Night actually become friends. And Breezepelt changed, I knew he would change. The ending of Crowfeather's Trial was really sweet. That book was actually emotional to me on so many levels. I loved it! But does anyone feel sorry for Breezepelt? I know I do, he changed and no cat saw that.. idk how the fandom would react tho. Anyways ..idek my opinions suck sorry for wasting your time :)

I feel like, Nightcloud is put off as a side character, but she plays an important role in the books, and she has some intense emotional baggage that is kind of ignored. This song is perfect. It really expresses her feelings, and her pain, and I think that is important. She is her own cat, not some part time mate for Crowfeather to come back to whenever he wants. I love this song.
