I really value the way Dave chooses to optimize his guitar playing through the attention given to how his fingers are placed to form chords and play the melody. I started imitating first Pat, then Clive but now that I try to play like Dave, I can stick to the chord melody without tripping over the more difficult parts. I play by ear and don’t find visual aids helpful as they slow me down. And he cleans it up nicely without sacrificing the emotion that comes through his playing. It’s become my favorite version. Pure joy.

Hope all is well with you Dave, my question ( below) is a genuine question, I'm currently researching Guitars , I do own an electro Classical, sounds a little thin , so I was intrigued with your Guitar here, I think I've noticed it's an Alhambra? but wasn't sure which model, any recommendations would be great

Hi David, Thank you for the nice comment. So the guitar is an Alhambra CTW-5P-EST-E. I bought it around 15 years ago! My opinion on the guitar is it’s very comfortable to play and light to carry around. It comes with a Fishman pro blend pick up which I never really got on well with so I had the K and K Pure pickup fitted which sounds much more natural. So for the recording I actually blended the pick up and Microphone audio together to create this sound. I do however find the the guitar not good to record just with a Microphone as I find it’s Bass response low due to the thin body. That’s why I record with the other guitar for classical pieces. @@davequirkeguitar Very Helpful, yes, that's exactly my problem ( Thin Sound) . like you, where I can, I try to use a Standard Classical ( not expensive models) for Full sound, sometimes with a KNA pickup ( sits under the Tied strings directly on the Bridge) and sometimes direct to Zoom ( recorder) Still considering Full Body Electro, Alhambra, Ramerez, Takamine and Alvarez Yairi but they come in on the Pricey side !
