Samantha Jones is back! Well, sort of. In Thursday's episode of 'And Just Like That,' Kim Cattrall's character comes back to the show in a special but funny way. Carrie gets hip surgery and while under pain medication, she reveals on her podcast an intimate memory she shared with her old friend. That forces the fashionista to reach out to Samantha, and to her surprise, she gets a response. Also in the episode, Miranda confronts her demons after her drinking leads to a confrontation with Carrie.

I disagree. I think all four characters were flawed in their own way. Thats life. Nobody is perfect . We all have stuff we need to work on. She always complained when they brought the kids along. Always made it clear it was painful for her. She had a really tough time showing affection and being there for miranda at her mother's funeral. Had serious issues with intimacy to a point of being mean and dismissive at times. Especially to smith. And while i agree charlotte was really judgemental of her lifestyle i still feel she could have made more of an effort to understand that was her point of view and been tolerant of her conservative ways. She is just easier to defend because her character isn't back for us to cut down to size like the other ones are.

Weaving Kim and SJP’s sorta feud into the show feels awkward. Samantha and Carrie were very different people than the actresses. They were the thickest of friends, and the line about Samantha using Carrie as an ATM felt out of place to me, and like a swipe at Kim. Samantha definitely didn’t rely on just Carrie for her business success. To my recollection, Carries books weren’t at the top of Samantha’s priorities, and she did the PR as more of a friendship thing. It just feels like the writers didn’t know how to write her off respectively.

when Carrie is texting Samantha, you see the text exchange that happened after the funeral where she thanked Samantha for sending flowers. This is time stamped as 'Thursday' with earlier text exchanged being dated in April etc. The fact it says 'Thursday' was clearly a missed error as anyone knows that texting apps will show you the day a text was sent if it has been sent within 7 days of the current day. Once a week has gone by, the text will be timestamped with a date instead. Carrie has already said at the beginning of the episode that this was 2 months later, so why does the text we already saw in the second episode say it was sent 'Thursday' rather than a date that was 2 months before the current date. Funny shit - Carrie character was BEYOND BROKE the majority of the series. There is even an episode where she goes broke and is about to get evicted cause she spent all her money on stupid shit like shoes and can't afford to pay her rent. She begs Charloette to turn over her wedding ring from Trey. Then she bullies Charloette into giving the ring when she doesn't want to. It's so annoying and Carrie always lived beyond her means. She was a freelance writer with no other form of income. Its hilarious there was an episode where she got herself into escorting unintentionally and got paid $1,000 for it then suddenly had an issue with it but sleeping with a foreign guy she didn't know as a 1 night stand for nothing was better? Carrie blew her chance to make rent money and disposable income to afford her lavish spending habits by escorting on the side since in reality Carrie slept with over 10-15 men who ended up being losers and a waste of time minus some pseudo life lesson that wasn't really a lesson at all. Samantha was the oldest and richest of them all

But there are more flattering versions possible of of the look she seems to be going for. (Some hybrid of “professional” and “mature hippie”?) What’s really appalling is what they’ve done to her life. Miranda (eventually) “had it all” in the sense that many women aspire to (and many women actually do); but now her “happily ever after”-unlike those of the other characters who married-turns out to be a lie? The writers almost seem to be glamorizing the more traditional life choices of Charlotte, the only character who ISN’T made out to look ridiculous or be miserable. I don't hate the new series, it's just different without Samantha's not around anymore. And for some of us, we just need to adjust to that kind of situation just like them I'm sure. But so far, I'm enjoying the new take on the show. ❤

It's growing on me as well. It's so different than what we are used to. We are used to comedy with some drama mixed in. This is drama with some comedy mixed in. Life in your 50s isn't as fun as life in your 30s, and the series should reflect that fact, which it does.

The world has changed and they have changed as well. It’s great to not see them stuck. Change is good. The gag is, many of the people who are bothered, and miss Samantha so much, know a woman not even close to the persona that Samantha has and these same humans gossip and shame said woman. Simmer down, the women are evolving just as the world is. It’s different and it may even be uncomfortable but, change will and must occur.

And let's not forget that super cringe worthy dialogue between Miranda & her professor in the first episode that made Miranda look like she had never even seen a person of color, when she had actually dated a black man in the original series. I'm sorry...but this woke GARBAGE has me watching like a train wreck that you just can't look away from. They ruined these characters. Each of these women in the original series were powerful & strong in their own way. Now they're just freaking brain dead. Who doesn't call 911, for their husband who is still alive & dying on the floor? Who sits around planning how many people of color they can invite to a dinner party? Who leaves their dead husband's ASHES behind, only to later recover them & stick them on the highest shelf possible in the closet like an old ugly Christmas sweater? Who leave behind the photo of her husband that he "touched every day", then bitches when it was accidentally broken? And let's talk about Che for a minute. Who in the hell says even a fraction of what she says & is not sued for sexual harassment? The writing on this show is so bad that my 6 year old granddaughter could do a much better job.
