I traveled about half the time from 1987 to 2001 and have been in 74 foreign countries and get the "favorite country" question all the time. Like you, I find that question extremely difficult to answer since there were lots of things in all of the countries that I've been in that were worth seeing. I usually put India as #1 just because of the amazing diversity - I've been there twice for a total of 6 months and feel like I barely scratched the surface. If I had to live somewhere other than the United States, I would probably pick New Zealand. A couple of countries that I loved just because of the interactions I had with the locals were Algeria and Syria (I was there in 1988, before the war). Indonesia is another favorite and is similar to India in the diversity of the various locations - if you go from one island to the next, you're in a totally different culture. Southeast Asia is one of my favorite regions to travel, with Laos and Cambodia at the top of the list. I agree with you that Greece, Egypt and Turkey are all great. Guatemala is my favorite country in Central America and Colombia and Bolivia are probably my favorites in South America. I've only been to a dozen sub-Saharan African countries and would say Mozambique, Malawi and Lesotho were my favorites.

@johngravley23893 жыл бұрын
@@glenn8272 I highly recommend that you go for it. I was 38 when I started traveling and almost 52 when I quit. I traveled very cheaply and took all local transportation and, although that can be rough on the body, it's the best way to meet the locals and see the way people live. I feel that my decision to go see the world was one of the best choices I've ever made and it was definitely the best education I've ever had.

I did a solo hiking trip in Northern Sweden two years ago. Just me, my backpack and the path ahead. @@kerryberry5786 Hi Kerry Berry. I hope so. I see that Turkey is gonna be Epic for me. India 🇮🇳 🕉️ is crazy epic. I loved being there Except for the freezing 🥶 temps I experienced in the Himalayas in March which I wasn't expecting. I had had enough freezing 🥶 winters growing up in New York as a teen. South Carolina as a child was fine in winter as the temp was not as intense. Nevertheless, I avoid those winters these days. Medellín COLOMBIA 🇨🇴 and the surrounding areas have none of that and that's why a number of Expats and Digital Nomads are looking to Medellín as a place to live for a while and some pensioners forever ♾️.
