The true epilogue of game of thrones ,written by a true fan. Not my original idea Jon went North and froze, since he decided to go north during winter to a land already destroyed by white walkers. Sansa lost the north shortly thereafter due to starving peasants rising against her,since she separated the north from the food producing parts of the country during winter and she was forced to flee in exile to Essos. Arya got lost at sea since no one has any sailing experience and the crew soon devolved to cannibalism and the lifeless husk of that sad ship is still floating aimlessly in the sea. Bronn was assassinated in his sleep by the reach lords who were disgruntled that a lannister gave away highgarden to a random seel sword over the other lords who have blood claims to the reach. The unsullied made it to Nath and promptly perished to butterfly fever. The dothraki suddenly remembered they were blood riders and their culture demands they take revenge for their fallen khal of Khals and started pillaging. Seeing the north declare independence dorne and the iron islands declare independence. Gendry made his way to stormsend and was promptly beaten up and thrown in a ditch by Stannis loyalists. With the realm in chaos food supplies got cut off causing a food riot. The ppl promptly through the wheel chair king out a window since he was too busy flying with birds to notice Briene having failed 2 kings was dubed Briene the useless and took her own life. Triyon remembered he was still lord of casterly rock and fled there where he drank away what was left of his family fortune. 25:44 It's not that simple. A dragon recognizing Targaryen blood doesn't mean he/she won't harm you. Targaryen have been killed by dragons. What the rider of the dragon is feeling is a huge factor in how the dragon reacts to others. And even then, at the end of the day, they are uncontrollable beasts.
@johnalden5821
@johnalden5821 Жыл бұрын
My take on Drogon's burning of the Iron Throne and sparing Jon, is that he recognized the motives of everyone involved. He saw that Jon was not motivated by personal power and was doing what he felt he had to do out of duty. He also recognized that Dany had been motivated by (and in the end, obsessed with) taking the throne. That obsession had corrupted her, so Drogon chose to eliminate the source of the corruption. His leaving with Dany's body symbolized the fact that she, and the Targaryens in general, were foreign invaders, who never belonged in Westeros and only ruled it by power, fear and dragons. As the last dragon, Drogon definitively ended that rein of fear forever. In the end, Drogon was smarter than we ever gave him credit for.

Bran is a villian. He knew everything that was going to happen, including the burning of King's Landing, and he let it happen. He let everything that was in motion play out so he would end up as King. Remember when he said he couldn't be the Lord of Winterfell because he 'didn't really want anything anymore'? He sure took the title of King of the six kingdoms rather quickly! As soon as he said 'Why do you think I came all this way?' I immediately started side-eyeing him. But when he told Jon 'You were exactly where I needed you to be.' I knew for sure. He's the true villian of the show. He played the long game as the three eyed raven. Everyone else was just a chess piece on the board - and he just sat back and let them clear the path forward for him. Remember, Bran ISN'T Bran anymore - he's the three eyed raven - and he won the game of thrones.

He took the Kingdom because he foresaw it. That's what he meant be "why do you think I came all this way?" It's not because he wants the throne he just knew that's the way the vote was going to go. Does he have the duty to stop actions that he foresees or his job just to foresee them and know what's going to happen but his duty is to let them run their course. I like Bran on the throne. The one who does not desire the power is the least likely to be corrupted by it and therefore should be the one to have it. You can say he let them clear the path, maybe my way of looking at it isn't correct but the way see it Bran's duty is to know what's going to happen, not change what's going to happen

Not sure how you get the Three-Eyed Raven as evil. It just represents the original magic/religion of Westeros before the coming of the First Men and the Andals. Basically, it is Westeros itself that won, having defeated both the Army of the Dead and the power-hungry madmen (and madwomen) who had taken over, with their dragons, gold-mining and sigils, etc. In other words, the Children of the Forest now get a say in how their own land will be governed again. I don't think that's evil. I think that is a kind of justice.

It's not surprising at all. Bran's wolf was SUMMER. The prior 3 eyed raven was most likely Bryden Rivers (Bloodraven). The power of the 3 eyed raven clearly sought key people that would help it towards its goals - my guess the goal is to bring back the ancient power of the land & a balance, that includes ending the imbalance of power by bloodline vs a worthy leader that is supported by the choice of the people.

Then, the water magically became so deep - him and Bronn emerged miles away with nobody going after him. Epic shot, but you had to forgive really poor plot holes.

Jon’s ending is fitting in my eyes. He never sought out fame or popularity or power. Jon is a thankless hero. The vast majority of the people of Westeros will never know his name, but the people Jon loves and respects all know what he did for them and they will remember his deeds and actions. Jon sacrificed his future and birthright to make a better world for everyone else. How much nobler can you get than sacrificing yourself for the betterment of others.

The thing I always thought was that the results weren’t bad, it was the journey to them that was shit. It’s like taking a left at the end of your block and ending up in candyland. Maybe candyland is where you were going but your gps said it was 178 miles away. You were gonna make a weekend of it. Now you’re suddenly there. You’d wonder if you took drugs. Dany becoming the mad queen is fine if the writing builds up to it. Same with Arya killing the Night King. Thats fine, but they built up a fight between Jon and the Night King. Jon doesn’t need to kill him, but he could have served as the distraction or could have been with Theon defending Bran in the godswood or any number of things, then Arya could have come in and saved Jon’s life. Subvert expectations but still grant the payoff for seasons’ worth of buildup for that fight. But having these things suddenly happen, it’s just like “what the fuck happened, how did we get to this so quickly?”

The biggest issue with Dany's ending was because they cut out another Targaryen character from he books, Young Griff. Him being king and loved by the people when Dany arrives, and fighting Dany over Kings Landing makes a lot more sense. Dany should be more tragic, not genocidal maniac.

That's my feeling too. I think he will get rid of Cersei, or at least make her flee, and the people will celebrate his ascension to the throne. Then Dany appears and they don't want her, that will truly hurt her. I think they were trying to convey that in the show, but it didn't really work because the people clearly hate Cersei and the rejection was in Dany's head. Dany will go too far, but I think Cersei will be the true mad queen, she's losing it already
@GenomeSoldierDK

@@DarthKay093 I don't think Lyanna was the one to choose that name. Rhaegar was the one who was obsessed with the prophecy and clearly he didn't believe that the children he had with Elia Martell to be Azor Ahai, so I don't think he would have problems naming another son Aegon. :) Such a shame that they cut Young Griff though, but I think it was for time reasons. Having another hidden Targaryen thrown into the mix all of a sudden that late in the show would just convolute things unecessarily given that they also had to do justice to all the POV characters. I wish they had taken more time with it, but I also get as a human being that doing the same thing for 10 years + is too much to ask of anyone. Remember that the cast / crew can't work on other projects during filming so that is a lot of lost opportunity elsewhere.

I feel like a lot of the endings are what are intended (I've read GRRM did at least tell them where things were going), it just needs a lot better pacing. I can see a lot of things being set up in earlier seasons, and with more time to actually work up to the big changes, they could be great. One thing the books do a lot better, is being able to focus on the characters inner thoughts. Eg, in the show, Dany very very quickly loses the support of those close to her, and next thing she's burning thousands of innocents. In the books we'll be able to read her thoughts and see the inner struggle that the show just kinda skipped. Bran should be an advisor though, he's not a ruler by any means. I can't defend that at all lol

Already in the first episode when he joins the Night's Watch he has to forsake all his claims to every title and castle he could ever inherit and he does so gladly. He didn't even want to be Lord Commander and gave that title away as soon as possible after his death. George RR Martin is and has always been very anti monarchy, anti inheritance of power. That Westeros moved towards a semi democratic system was the logical conclusion. But the lords laughing at the very concept that commoners would get to vote was also realistic. With bran having no heir the kingdom was throne into chaos and the land tore itself apart till they were left with hundreds of petty tyrants. The End

this isn't snow.. those are the ashes from the burnt city. and as much as everyone thinks this end is terrible and not true to their character, it was all meant to be since the end of season 2. If you remember, Dany had a vision where she is almost touching the throne in a ruined crown hall, and we all thought it was snowing when it was burning. then she met Drogo and her child, which means she's dead with them and reunites with them as the Dothraki believed. also, the witch told her Drogo will be the same when the sun rises in the west and go down in the east. Now that she is dead (and can see him as she remembered) in the west, the sun of a brighter future for the 7 kingdoms can rise, while Drogon takes her back to the east to rest for an eternity. I think this end was poetic, I loved Dany through the whole series, but this is so philosophical. also, Bran I believe is supposed to represent a philosopher who knows all the truths of the world (by being the 3 eyed raven) and is the only one who can direct people to the light and show them the right way. very much similar to Plato's cave. this is how I see it, I enjoyed re-watching it with you!! ❤❤

@@baronhomer1 it wasn't and he did not. It's only ever been said that he told them the major beats the story would hit. The showrunners are the ones who missed the steps. And besides, if you are the author of what some consider to be the greatest fantasy work since the Lord of the Rings, would you really tell two chucklehead hacks like Dan and Dave how it actually ended? Think about it. You only have to compare the version of The Reynes of Castamere that Cersei told Margaery in the show to what Tywin _really_ did in the books to know that the Undynamic Duo have zero imagination.

As someone who watched this last season in real time with a group of friends who regularly got together to watch every week, it felt very obvious that the writers prioritized creating an ending that no one could guess at above all else, to the point that the ending they landed on just didn’t actually make sense with the characters. They were so dead set on not letting anyone have the satisfaction of having guessed the ending that they just ruined the show. It was honestly insulting and heartbreaking.

I'm still not sure about Lady Stoneheart. From what we know so far, her parts went to Beric Dondarrion and he did fine with it. It also gave that much more weight to Jon's resurrection since we didn't see it already with Catelyn. But it's impossible to really tell until we see where else GRRM takes Lady Stoneheart in the next book(s). I think the omission of Jaime telling Tyrion about Tysha (Tyrion's first wife) was the bigger issue. Book Tyrion is so different and broken when he gets to Essos because of that. Also leaving out Young Griff created a huge deviation from Martin's story.

And yet GOT's ending makes no sense when you look at HOTD's events: - on HOTD, Viserys was not elected by birthright through his father, but chosen by the lords of Westeros. That failed, creating a huge war among the noble houses of Westeros - on HOTD, again, Viserys was chosen against his will, he didn't want to lead and become King, didn't have it in him and everyone knew it That failed, creating a huge war among the noble houses of Westeros. Heck it happened on Game of Thrones as well with Robert, who didn't get the throne out of birthright either, didn't want to rule and allowed the Lords and Ladies of Westeros to plot behind his back to grab power. - on HOTD, Viserys was favored over a woman who had 10 times if not more his legitimacy, will to rule and ability to do so. Actually, HOTD is all about how women are mistreated by the powerful, devoured by their will to rule, manipulated and abused, and GOT ends with Daenerys getting massacred over a storyline that doesn't make any sense regarding her journey through the show (and no, contrary to what D&D claim, Daenerys not feeling sorry for her abuser - brother - isn't a sign of "madness") and men who don't want to rule and have less claim to rule than her, are favored over her. Jon, Bran, both of them. - on HOTD, it's precisely Viserys' all affairs about heirs that creates this whole thing. The fact that "the Lords and Ladies" couldn't explicitely point to a successor, is what lead to the Dance of Dragons. - all of that, without beginning to mention all the prophecy parts on HOTD that don't pay off at all on GOT. When you watch HOTD, GoT's ending just doesn't make a bit of sense and it actually makes GOT's ending even worse. And you knew even just considering that Jon is a Targaryen and all, well the entire Targaryen Dynasty has fallen, there is nothing left, like yay. And GOT pretending that "the wheel is broken" when literally the show ends on the same rich, disconnected people (yes because the show pretends that the Stark are noble, poor, oppressed people but they're not lmao, they're nobility!) sitting in the same rich ass palace than the beginning of the show (and the beginning of the TV universe with HOTD) is just hella funny (in a very sad way). No wheel has been broken, Jesus. There are the glaring problems in this writing, and then when you think in-universe, it gets worse and worse.

Jon's arc was never going to be about glory or a throne. From the moment he took the Black, he resigned himself not only to a life of duty, but a life of anonymity -- no better or worse than Qorin Half-Hand or Mance Rayder. He knew what he signed up for. But he will always be the Crow who brought the Free People together with the people of the North, ending thousands of years of war. That's better than a king. That's a legend. The real tragedy for Jon is that he loved two women, and he lost both of them because of duty. That will be his burden for the rest of his life. But if there is anywhere in Westeros that he can forget those losses and move on, it's in the Far North. I like Jon's story better than all the others, I think. The truth that we all come to know (maybe with a bit of age), is that we all have to serve. We all have duties and responsibilities -- and choices. Very few of them end in glory or even in basic recognition by others. How many of us toil in complete anonymity and get no honor or commendation? How many crucial moments in our lives come in the dark of a sleepless night? Life is not about power or glory. Life is about serving and striving because you love the people you serve, whether it is your family, your partner, your country or whatever. You don't do it for congratulations, you do it because they need you, and because that is what good, strong people do. And you would not fail them in a thousand years if you could help it.

I really did like Jamie's ending in the sense that Brienne got to write all his good deeds and at the end it said he died protecting his queen. If you remember he was the king slayer, oath breaker, man without honor. Even though it was Cersei who we hate, he got to die with honor being an oath keeper protecting his queen instead of being the king slayer. I think that was Jamie's redemption story and I liked it because it wasn't the stereotypical redemption story. Jamie was a complex character and I think they did a good job with his story. I also liked Jon's ending. I think what they were getting at in the end was that Jon wasn't gonna stay at the wall he was leaving to go live with the wildlings. He's going to be with the only people who truly accepted him for the man he was. He wasn't very accepted in Winterfell with his family because he was a bastard. Then even when he went to the Night's Watch and became commander he got betrayed and murdered by his own men. But the wildlings always accepted him. They didn't care who he was or what his titles were they accepted him for the type of person he was. Some people have said he's now the new king beyond the wall.

Regarding Jon: Bran knew the Night's Watch was no longer needed. By condemning him to the Night's Watch he satisfied Grey Worm's need for punishment, but at the same time set Jon free to go to where he was happiest, The North. With the Wall irreparably damaged and the White Walkers gone, there is no longer a need for it. The Free Folk (what remains of them) are now free to interact with the rest of Westeros without resentment. This is actually the best outcome for Jon and he realizes it the moment he sets foot outside the wall, hence the smirk.

I think it’s fair that some disagree with you. I didn’t mind her ending, and as someone who only watched the show, he insanity was hinted at for years, and for me I thought she was gonna go the way of her father the moment she burned Sammy’s family. I was looking for clues and I saw them almost everytime Dany was challenged. The hints were there. Once Mysandi was killed I knew she was going to snap. When she did it was no surprise to me. Idk, I think it was fine. Insane people aren’t considered insane until they do something crazy. It always comes out of nowhere and the clues it’s coming are always subtle.

In the books she walks out in the middle of sick people to offer them water. In the books she cares. And all that makes sense for earlier seasons Daenerys. The show really made her different after season 5 and thus contradicted everything we'd seen from her before. She never hurt the innocent intentionally like she did in season 8, remember she always crucified the masters, never the slaves, and she even locked up her dragons 'cause they were harming innocent people, so what justifies her rampaging the entire town and not going directly for Cersei and The Red Keep? @@davidwindell The thing is, it was not executed well. Dany turning a tragic villain will be an amazing amazing journey if done right. So it was not that she went the way of her father, it was HOW it was done. Execution is everything Thats not true about insane people at all, their near and dear ones always see the symptoms You cannot blame the audience, fan favorites Ned, Robb, Cat, Oberyn, all had surprising faiths which seemed to come from nowhere and audience didnt predict and were shocked and cried but the audience still loved those moments! Because these were executed right and made sense Considering the reaction to the ending was just plain "what?" and mostly no emotions from the audience, its fair to say it was not done right at all. A right ending would have the audience sobbing and sympathizing with Dany but understanding that it was logical and only thing to happen. @hokagedlo6133 She was a complicated character. Since season one her first impulse against anyone she felt wronged her, or didn't show loyalty to her, was to burn them down. She always had someone else play the good angel in her shoulder that stopped her at the edge, but the tyrant that feels entitled to rule because it was her birthright, and who happily threatened doom or actually carried out the threats was there every single season since the first.

@@hokagedlo6133Dany actually would. It just wasn't explained very well in the TV show. Dany would not let ANYTHING get the way of her sitting on the Throne. The TV show tried to use.her Dragon's death as her motivation to burn everyone. I think that was the wrong choice. They should have used Sansa. Imagine Sansa plotting to get Jon in the thrown..with Varys and Tyrion all in out. Now Jon has to choose between Dany and his family. The whole Dany/Sansa thing was right there in the plot to be used. And Dany would have killed Sansa if she tried to put Jon on the Throne.

Jon is the new Mance Rayder who was also once a crow. Being sent to the not wall (as it doesn't really exist anymore) was infact just letting him go live in the North with the wildlings, he never wanted anything other than a simple life.

Yes. This is one thing that I always feel good about in how things end. Jon in the free land makes sense. He can be useful in some forms of leadership, but you could tell from his time with the Wildlings in the beginning that something in their life style and way of being called to him in an elemental way. Also, he was so weary and worn down by the wars and having to kill Dany that he just wanted to retire from life in that world.

@@muffinamy83 maybe because the show isn't about one character? You like Jon snow that's cool doesn't mean the plot made any sense. It's not just about Daenerys going mad either, everything d&d tried to do felt lackluster and without any heart to it. The sand snake plot was one of the biggest red flags but show only fans didn't even realize how bad it was and how changes like that lead us to this nonsense

The sad part is that, especially with some of the reasons Tyrion gives in his dialogue to Jon and some minor glimpses in her rise in Essos, you could see where the rush to close the story this season is what failed her arc into becoming a villain. We needed more time to really see her struggle with Westerosi politicking to truly get over the issues with her trying to use her "grand liberator/breaker of chains" style of conquer and rule to do the same in Westeros and the pushback and distrust she would face as a result (along with spin campaigns from the more savvy ruling class to turn public opinion against her more). To really sell that Westeros, despite being where she was born, was not her home, that she wasn't or at least didn't feel welcome and nowhere near as loved and basically deified with little effort like she was in the slave cities. To really make every loss both in battle, in public opinion, and in her treasured friends push her deeper and deeper into a dark place. Because really, Dany is and was way out of her depth politically even in Essos; she became a fighter but never genuinely evolved into a ruler. It's like the smart kid in high school who aces things without trying hitting the wall when they hit college. And as she loses the people who evened her out or gave her guidance and things just not coming as simply as they had, on top of feeling like a stranger in what's supposed to be her home, on top of wrenches into the plan like the Battle for the Dawn and the knowledge of Jon as a trueborn heir in the back of her mind and of weapons that can actually hurt her dragons, her children, after already losing one...after all of this losing and being denied, this could have been a realistic spiral for her, until her "then let it be fear" line actually hits because she has given up on love and mercy and decides to be what she is, what has worked, and what she was even told to do: be a dragon. Go back to the short term solutions that worked at least somewhat for her in Essos and just wreck shop and move on. Fuck everyone else and only rely on the Dothraki and Unsullied - her people, since the Westerners choose not to be - and then go back to the other people, the slaves in the East, that also accept her. Everyone else can burn or submit and then, when they do, they can realize their "folly" and that her regime is for the best. It could have been done, the pieces were there. It was just pushed way too fast for the entire puzzle to come together in time and ended up a jumbled mess with maybe some pieces together forming part of the picture.

Just Loved your reaction at Tyrion telling Jon he's going to the Night's Watch. Such a travesty - "he saved everyone and this is what he gets" - no one is allowed a happy ending except for the two people who did absolutely nothing to deserve it - Sansa and Bran.

it also makes zero sense since there is no need for the night's watch anymore. also, once grey worm and the unsullied bounce for Naath (where they will die for not be immunized), jon could just do whatever he wanted since his entire family rules the mainland of Westeros now.

@@Adam-xg1ch And Varys made sure that others know of Jon's heritage - there are too many people who want a Targaryen back on the Throne - hoping this is what SNOW sequel would include - Neither Bran nor Sansa are capable of governing and don't have the support or loyalty of those they are governing, within weeks if not days the other kingdoms will be proclaiming independence, and Bran won't have any way of saying No. The only way Targs or Lannisters could rule is because they had their own military and their own money. Bran has nothing except his creepy magic stuff, maybe he starts blackmailing everyone, yeah, that'd be fun
