"Never knew there were worse things than dying" has to be the saddest lyric ever. I cried the entire song.

My heart is heavy after listening to this and watching the visuals. So many lives lost in wars and to what end?

This song is a full education about war and its aftermath. Eric Bogle wrote it, many have sung it, and more have wept…… thank you for keeping it here and now.

This was written by an Australian and sung by many, including two Irishmen named Clancy. It hits hard no matter where you’re from. And I agree with the comment that Liam would have approved ❤

Liam would be very happy with this performance. Thank you to all who served or continue to serve in any capacity to protect their countrymen.

More to the point Eric would be happy with it. For those who don’t know Liam Clancy sang the song, but it was written by a Scottish Australian immigrant Eric Bogle. If you don’t know him already check out his songs; he has the ability to make you cry or laugh with equal measure in his songs. That’s true genius, and Liam would agree with me!

@@tsoram thank you for correcting me, I actually had thought this was a Clancy tune!

The Australian children's group, The Wiggles did a very nice version this song two years ago. That was the first time I had ever heard the song, I've since heard the original and some remakes and I love the song

May we never forget the sacrifices so many of those who came before us made. How many of us could give so much today? Beautiful song and performance.

One of the most well put together songs with educational pictures I have ever seen. Raw, captivating and heart wrenching. Thank you, lads, for the reminder.

It's sad that no ww1 veterans are alive anymore. We can never hear the story of the hell they went through.

First heard this song performed by Liam Clancy and I was in tears for most of it. This version is almost as good!
