It's a beautiful piece, absolutely worthy of being played and remembered. With that said I can't help but think that it would never have seen the light of day if it were not for his fame. It is a little annoying when you consider that many other great pieces are out there but will never get any attention. This isn't an attempt to take anything away from the man or this piece, it really is wonderful. .

Aww, so moving, Anthony Hopkins has never forgot his Welsh home roots, he has occasionally dropped back to Margam & Port Talbot over the years, paid a visit to the YMCA there where he first tried his hand at acting, both an artist & musician too on top of his acting skills .. he is sure an accomplished man. My children used to attend the nursery/creche facilities at the YMCA there, I returned to collect them to find, he'd visited that day, hugged my eldest son & held his hand, held my youngest son in his arms throughout his visit there, captivated by the huge smiles & big blue eyes of both, so I was told by staff .. a moment I sadly missed .. the joy in his face, his wife so moved, I bet he felt so proud to hear that .. pure joy, I agree, what a moment for them.

Normally, when actors indulge in their musical tastes, it becomes something to poke fun at (Bruce Willis, Eddie Murphy, Don Johnson, and - believe it or not - Robert Downey Jr.). This piece, however, actually holds up as a truly wonderful work. Hopkins transcends music with the help of Andre Rieu and stays classy.

But yes, Nino Rota used also a fine set of melancholic sentimented 3/4 beat melodies. 3/4 beat Waltz music has continued to have some popularity in Europe in folk music circles, in particular the Schlager tunes.
