Sometimes less is more. I don't really like avid classical listeners to criticize this work because they get too caught up and obsessed about the most little technical parts of the composition until they don't really know how to listen to a simple piece which can move a normal listener, smile and get goosebumps. Don't get too obsessed deeply in classical music and lose yourself from all the simplicities in life. Sometimes less is more. And this is more than an average piece. To my ears (and I don't give a shit about what people think,) it is a beautiful piece.
@palopo-t3v10 жыл бұрын
See, that's the problem. When you do enjoy something, you tend to consume more of it. When you consume more of it, you unavoidably grow a culture and higher standards, in this case, musical culture and standards. Once you are in possession of that culture and high expectations, you can't get rid of them. Little musical culture is enough to not appreciate this piece as much as someone who isn't deep into complex classical music. Is it a good thing? Yes and no. The downside is that goosebumps are a lot harder to get. The good thing is that when you do get goosebumps out of something you have high standards of, then those are some incredible goosebumps.
@OnlyTruthMatt3rs10 жыл бұрын
palonazo Good logical explanation. That's how the things usually works, once we're deeper into something we naturally tend to know more about it which automatically makes our standards of evaluation a lot higher. But when your knowledge about certain things evolve, the amount of satisfaction that can be received during listening will evolve as well. (=
@bigSkapinsky10 жыл бұрын
I see where you're going with this, but there's a simple allegory to explain what the critical listeners go through. Imagine a newborn baby. All he sees is a bunch of different colour, organized in shapes and patterns that the baby can't yet recognize or make any sense of. Depth perception, faces, his own body, nada. yet, he will find the comfort of seeing his parents, or laugh when you jingle keys at it... he still finds some things interesting without making any sense of them. Now take a grown adult, he understands all the color he sees, and now, keys don't make him laugh anymore. he now has to see very complex things (like movies, comedy acts, etc...) to get a good laugh. See just because we analyze, criticize, and take apart the music we listen to, doesn't mean we enjoy it less. We enjoy it differently. and just like palonazo said, when we do get the goosebumps (which I did here) well DAMN those are some intense goosebumps
@palopo-t3v10 жыл бұрын
Big Skapinsky Exactly. Watch the video of that girl who's had ear implants installed and hears sound for the first time. She starts weeping at hello. What would you say if she said it was the best hello ever performed? You, with your experience at not being deaf would answer that there's nothing special about that "hello", that there's more acoming, and that there are even better ones. Same here. People who go crazy with this video, who were attracted to it purely by the Hopkins factor, need to realize there's more and better music out there. This Waltz here is a textbook exercise on imitating known waltz structure with little innovation. This video is then equivalent to "super famous actor who wanted to be a chef, fries an egg in Ferran Adria's kitchen".

I really don`t know what i should say but let me try to explain what this does to me because i want to share this special moment which it was for me. Iàm not really familiar with classic music (tried to play the Schneewaltzer when i was 10 and learning to play keyboard in the 80`s) but i love Music and i can feel it because iàm a hypersensible person. Now i`am 47 years old and sitting here at my breakfast table with my wife, playing this song and i was sitting here with tears in my eyes rolling down my face, not much but...yes. I have goosebumps on my whole body, listening to this music and seeing Sir Anthony Hopkins how he enjoy it so much listening to this masterpiece of composition played by the best Man Andre Rieu with his outstanding Orchestra. Nobody could transport this feelings better than Andre Rieu and his Orchestra. Iàm deeply impressed what Sir Anthony Hopkins had composed, a masterpie in my mind which touch the soul. You just don`t compose a masterpiece like this... it came from the bottom of the heart and soul and thats the reason why it has an impact like it has and iàm sitting here with tears in my eyes. Iam pretty sure that none of this great human beeings nether Sir Anthony Hopkins nor Andre Rieu is reading my post but it doesn`t matter because i just wan`t to share and express my feelings because i was surprised myself. Thank you for this special moment which it was for me Sir Anthony Hopkins and Andre Rieu with his outstanding Orchestra. All the best to both of you from the bottom of my heart!

Прекрасный британский актёр, сэр Энтони Хопкинс!!! А теперь ещё и такой вальс сочинил!!!! 👌🏻👍🏻💓
Not only is this very touching; it's also quite amusing. Why? Because all I could think of when Hopkins was watching them play was the opening of Red Dragon. I hope all he enjoyed this time was solely the music.

A wondrous piece of music composed by the multitalented Sir Anthony Hopkins. The best waltz I’ve ever heard beautifully played by André Rieu’s fabulous orchestra. Thank you Sir Anthony and André for bringing it to us. ❤❤❤❤

I love André Rieu's music. I admire his talent and the way he lives/feels/enjoys the music he plays. The first time I watched him on TV playing, I fell in love the way he reaches out the heart of anyone. He must never doubt about his talent and the way you reach our hearts. I wish you all the best.

I know I'm about 10 years too late, but I would like to thank Andre for making Sir Anthony's dream come true. As a hobbyist composer, I know what it is like to have written what I consider my masterpiece, and finally hearing it played. Thankfully, nowadays we have software orchestras, so all the other composers who couldn't get their music played, can play it themselves, which is what I do now.

Mr. Rieu, your performances are incredible and powerful. Inspirational to levels near unimaginable. You bring smiles and joy to people, regardless of their race, color, ethnicity and cultural background. One feels the human spirit exploding with exhilaration and bursts of happiness invoked by so simple yet so deep and touching sounds that one is left with nothing but a foolish smile after the music has had it's last breath. And then we stand up, walk with a smile, a happy step of which we are usually not even aware and look into the rest of our day with enthusiasm and brightness filled with hope. Thank You, dear Sir, thanks to your wonderful orchestra, and a special thanks to a maestro that is Sir Anthony Hopkins for coming together for such a marvelous masterpiece. Salute.

Thank you Sir Andre for bringing us this magnificent piece! Only you could give it such wings and beautiful colors and in deed you did! I am just wondering... Really not ONE waltz offered by unknown musicians was ever worthy of a try? I believe you when you said it, but listening to classical music online composed and performed by unknown artist I am just amazed how creative many of them are... Who knows how many beautiful compositions are there never to be heard...
