@@Rykage_ There definitely was a time skip as Amity colosseum was there on the left side, with what looks like ship jammed into it. That had to take at least a few weeks to make it from Atlas to Vacuo. My guess, we have a short time skip 6 to 12 months at most.

This finale was amazing! We got to see Summer when she left for her final mission, Ruby realizing she was enough, Neo accepting Roman’s death, some call backs to the earlier volumes, Little being inspired by Ruby in their ascension and taking care of Juniper, Jaune becoming young again, a new part to Red Like Roses and a new version of This Will Be The Day, and THE ORIGINS OF THE BROTHERS!!! I have my fingers crossed volume 10 gets green lit soon because we need more.

Seeing Summer shoulder push Raven, and understanding that after that Raven saw the bravest one she knew loose to Salem... And then after many years getting shoulder pushed by Yang at the end of volume 5 during her speech about being scared and waiting for Salem to come... Hits different.

There was theory someone commented on Summer Rose’s Wiki page that I think lines up pretty well with the events of her last mission we saw in this episode. Credit for theory goes to Blue.Cheese2 Raven and Summer were partners within team STRQ. After Oz entrusted them with the secret of Salem, the Grimmified witch who commands the creatures of darkness, it leaves the team in disarray. Summer, knowing what her Silver Eyes can do, decides to try and defeat Salem herself without telling anyone "hence it being a "Summer Secret". Raven catches her right before she leaves and tries to get her to not go and possibly die. Summer gives her the optimistic speech (Raven recognizes this tone in Ruby in Volume 5) and convinces her to tag along. They make it to Salem's lair and fight her. The duo manages to actually kill Salem. Temporarily. After seeing the witch resurrect herself, Raven goes into shock. Now in complete fear, she summons a portal to escape. She begs Summer to come with her, but the huntress stands her ground. Raven abandons her. Summer fights Salem more, using her Silver Eyes as a final resort. The attack causes cracks to appear on her skin, but still isn't enough to kill her. Salem eventually apprehended Summer, ready to kill. Summer tells her that she will be stopped, even if she can't be killed, and Salem throws her into the pool of darkness. She later realizes that Summer somehow survived the pool, and starts to experiment on Grimmifying her, eventually leading to Salem experimenting on other Silver Eyed Warriors. This headcanon explains Salem's origins for experiments on Silver Eyed Warriors, Summer's secret mission, Raven's fear of Salem and how she KNOWS she can't be beaten, and how Salem can be injured.

If her goal is to divide humanity so the Brothers can come back and destroy Remnant (thus freeing her from her curse, if that's what her goal is), then twisting the Silver-Eyed Warriors, who are theorized to be a creation of the God of Light, into Grimm hybrids would deprives him of one of his creations, and break the balance that he upholds (since the Silver Eyes seem to exist to destroy the Grimm, turning Silver-Eye Warriors into Grimms would negate that purpose, it's like the firetruck being on fire). As for the notion of Salem wanting to put a younger Silver-Eyed Warrior (aka Ruby) into the Grimm pools, I think it has more to do with the fact that, as far as we know, Ruby is the last known Silver-Eyed Warrior on Remnant who can still use her powers (as far as we know), and since Ozpin has put his hopes in Ruby in his fight against Salem, which means (if we believe her goal is to have the Brothers destroy Remnant or something) that turning Ruby into a Grimm hybrid is a message to both Ozma and the Brothers that his (Ozma's) champion has failed, and she can control the power of both gods (Grimm and Silver Eyes). So the Brothers would realize that the balance they had both strived for in Remnant cannot be maintained, and wipe the slate clean. And sure, Salem could just kill Ruby, or any Silver-Eyed that appeared. But it sends a bigger message to just corrupt them.

I genuinely believe the only reason Neo is so popular is because she can’t speak. She can’t say anything to piss people off and make them not like her. She’s quirky and fun but so are a lot of other characters and they aren’t as beloved as Neo. The writers understood what made her popular and that’s why she’s never spoken.

One of my favorite things about the last episode is the ost. A version of Volume 1’s opening, This Will be the Day, playing with the blacksmith sending them off, and Somewhat’s figurine being there right for the chorus. To me, it feels like a true callback to the goal of volume 1. This will be the day we've waited for. This will be the day we open up the door. They couldn't do a post credit scene as that would have been a massive amount of budget to design, storyboard and animate an entirely new kingdom and any new outfits for characters etc. they just can't justify taking it away from the rest of the season. also they went forward in the future an undetermined amount of time, we have the colosseum in the air re-outfitted as a warship and that would have taken months if not years, also all the other ships from every other kingdom were there too so ruby's message was listened to by everyone in all of remnant and they have come together against Salem.

You know, I always thought Roman and Neo deserved better even if they were criminals they weren’t inherently Evil like Cinder or Salem, and as we know not even Salem is technically Pure Evil. So when Roman told Neo he knows he’s not real and faded away I actually cried a bit. He deserved to pay for his crimes but to go out like that and leave Neo Behind. Neither of them nor Ruby deserved that, be it to live or die with. This was an incredibly painful and I do think they showed in spite of their crimes, how innocent they were ultimately. I hope Neo comes back to help Ruby using the Semblance version of Roman as her voice and coping mechanism in the final volume if they ever make it.

I think the idea I'm getting is Ruby chose to be herself rather than to continue trying to be the hero like in the stories. She was so focused on being that hero that any failures made her question whether she was adequate enough or not. She reaching for a standard there was no hope in reaching. If you reach for the unreachable, you lose sight in yourself. When failure seemingly puts the unreachable even further out of reach, you fall apart. Real heroes are going to fail/ fall sooner or later. The only way is to either stick it to the end or die trying. You either die like every huntsman in history or you stick out enough to prevail. Anyhow, with some old songs returning in some shape or form, part of me is now hoping 'I May Fall' makes a return next volume, potentially for the final battle. Honestly, it has some lyrics that could have helped and just might jive well, should things go in the direction I half-expect.

35:45 when Ruby turns to camera and says, "Thank You." is being seen by many as directed towards the audience as this is very likely the last RWBY episode to be made. At best we are probably waiting 3 years until Volume 10 but, it has been said that WB will determine if RWBY is a viable commodity based on the success of the 2 Justice League Rwby team ups movies. Which is a stupid metric to determine RWBY's fate imo. I hate seeing shows not get completed. As a life-long genre fan it is something that I am all too familiar with.

Theory Time: Since they went back in time (amity exists, so this is after the amity accords, but before V1 as amity went from atlas to vale, then straight back to atlas after V3), I think the Ruby we see in Red trailer is RWBY after she time traveled, not from pre-beacon Ruby. My evidence: Ruby effortlessly destroyed dozens of beowulfs in the trailer, then struggles to fight a few, with backup, when she arrives at beacon. Ruby uses many of the moves and techniques vs Cat that she does in the trailer, swinging wildly, yet remaining in control, doing jump shots, etc. skills she did not show proficiency with early in her time at Beacon. Ruby during her fight with Cat is snarky and confident, smirking when she gets the upper hand, same as she does in the trailer, she does not show this level of confidence at beacon.

I was really happy for the Summer/Raven scene together....although there's tension between them they're also still clearly old friends cooperating with each other. While Raven seems to despise Ruby it could be a case of misplaced anger over the trauma they're both probably about to walk into. Ruby reminds her too much of Summer, and that's emotionally painful for Raven who was seemingly devasted by what happened to Summer whom she seems to have loved, either as a friend or more. It recontextualizes Raven's reaction to Ruby. It's not the basic jealously of a first wife towards the progeny of the 2nd....it's more complicated than that. Ruby needed to see that vision, learning a vital bit of extra info about what her Mom did and why. Ruby was asleep or only half-conscious when she said it, but Summer's parting words: "I love you, just as you are." were what Ruby needed to hear, echoing to her from the glass case containing Crescent Rose, giving Ruby the courage to embrace herself as she is, flaws and all, emerging with the same resolve the others did in Herb's hut earlier.

They just got transported to Vacuo, the place everyone else managed to get to through the portals at the end of volume 8. Judging by the ships and amity collosium in the background, everyone must have heard Ruby’s message and are banding together in Vacuo to fight against Salem.

I think the biggest lesson from this season is that the brothers have been breaking worlds for a while now, that the main characters have to stick by eachother and in doing so have the strength to finish the fight, and that people can change, even the most scorned. The Cat and Neo in this volume were parallels to Salem. The Cat wanted to spite its creators, doomed to walk the ever after and never change, and Neo was absolutely consumed by revenge. Now what this suggests is that team RWBY or atleast Ruby may be thinking about how that applies to Salem. Can they destroy her or can they change her, was she in a way right and what does all this mean. Heck I dont think even Ozpin knows any of this

Wise Weiss strikes again, there's a reason she's best girl. And the plot thickens when it comes to Summer! Raven's going have a lot of questions thrown at her next time she shows up. The blacksmith is an amazing therapist. It's also been theorised that the process of ascending gives you more mental clarity which helped Ruby work things out faster. Guide my way (or Red like roses part 3) is the OST when Ruby kicks ass. Neo can always return through the door later. Also that pink crystal on the blacksmith's table was totally her. So cute how Somewhat has a cape! You can see the influence Ruby had on Little by what they chose to become. So much lore dropped, so basically The Brothers got kicked out by The Tree cause they were causing problems and they still haven't learned. Who knows what they've been up to after Remnant. Maybe at the end of the series they'll go back to the Everafter and ascend. The FNDM is currently in mourning over the loss of dilf Jaune lol, at least he kept the streaks. In the last scene with Vacuo the OST This will be the day (the first RWBY opening) was playing. They didn't go back in time, more jumped forward. They only spent a few days in the Everafter and they came out in Vacuo, in the same place as the original portal did minus a sandstorm, which has ships from all the kingdoms gathered including Amity. So they likely at the very least arrived back in Remnant a few months after the events of V8. V10 is gonna have some emotional reunions. Yeah the trailer for the crossover movie was kinda disappointing, the end credits song is called The edge. RTX is in July which is when we'll likely get more RWBY news, can't wait for the full soundtrack too! And from what CRWBY have been saying hopefully we won't be waiting too long. And now you're caught up you should check out the community more, Phoenix/night does lots of theory vids, MercuryBlack does crack vids, I'mStrange does a bit of everything and ThusKindlySheScatters makes great AMVs. Feel free to check out my AMV playlist if you want, no pressure though. Annoying that RvB keeps being difficult, I can't wait for you to get to the good stuff. I don't think that James ironwood will be turning good since we don't know WHEN team RWBY reappear but if I had to guess ruby will try to have ironwood to be redeemed but it won't work, but penny will definitely be able to live like a normal girl.

Creepy fact....since jaune is based on Joan of Arc.... people think jaune may die by fire ......that fire attack by Weise almost made alot think about it.....but i say we don't till the show is fully over

Oh a rewatch is practically necessary to get everything it has out of it. Especially a certain characters appearance in V3 just slipped in real quick and we don't meet them until much later. There's so many details to pick up on that can be overlooked or don't hold significance until you already know what happens.

Cat was such a great villain, Robbie did such a good job voicing them too, and the fight was just *Chef's Kiss* Ruby's Ascention was kinda lame though. An entire season of exsitential angst to the point of fiary tale suicide, she finds out the last thing her mom did was lie to her, smashes her moms weapon and givves up, but all it took was mom saying "I lovve you" and boom, Ruby is all better now, all problems solvved, nothing will evver be bad again. They didnt even give her a glow up or anything, exact sma eoutfit, no upgrades to her weapon, she just got her moms signet back. It all just felt a bit underwhelming for an entire seasons worth of buildup. Nothing wrong with the message. "You are your best self" is great, but depression doesnt just end with one sentence. I saw someone say it would havve been better if she had tried out her moms weapon, like "I wanna be the kind of hero my mom was" and try to be like her in the tree, only to then learn that she lied and made a bad choice that left her and Yang alone. Then smash her moms weapon, realizing her mom wasnt perfect either and she doesnt want to be like her mom, then get the flashback of story time where her mom says she loves them just the way they are, and slowly come to accept that over the episode. I have to agree, the ordering and pacing of it I think is what makes it feel so sudden.

It would be so awesome if Neo came back with a voice. If she does come back I definitely want a Neo and Emerald team up against a fully powered Cinder. Then Cinder kills Emerald and Ruby steps in to help Neo and kill Cinder.

Interesting to point out that the tree said, " when you are needed most" it is so possible that they have been gone for an extended period of time. I don't know how likely it is that they actually did this because then what is even the point of making jaune young again if when they go home it has been a few years or something.

What if, I was wrong and the Ever After time was too much compared to Remnant time and they had to travel back in time to arrive before the big battle? (I mean if they just get back in real time, it took like a year in Remnant and when they would have arrived Vacuo has already reduced to ashes.)

Hello again! I seriously wondered if I am gonna watch this as I will for sure get annoyed again (I really hate the ending they went with and generally the writing of this arc). Either way I stuck with ya this far so I wanted to get to the very end. Turns out I am unable to do it tho - got about half way through and had a good chunk of stuff to share but the whole messaging around Ruby hits way too close to wrong notes in me and I know when to stop myself. I will make a short rant for which I apologise but I wanted to get to it in the natural moments and I cant. I really dislike what they did in the last two episodes - the volume was make or break on them and they dropped the ball a lot I think. At first the whole tone around Ruby's suicide is off - they are all pretty ok with it and quite happy at times (Justifying Ruby's feeling that they would be better off without her). But then the sequence with Ruby comes and thats where the issue starts. Ruby just chose to kill herself but now she must choose who she will be and obviously she cant - she has PTSD and thats a symptom. Then Ruby sees her mother lying and something which by all consistency should agrravate her further makes her all better. Then she decides she is perfect and all issues dissapear. No depression, no ptsd, no conflict with her "Friends" who dont help her. Its a terrible message - in basis it says "Kill yourself and all your problems will dissapear". Its just about the worst thing they could do with it. Personally I wish Ruby had a talk with perhaps younger self where she would realise that her journey is far from over, and that she cannot know how she will grow or what her final impression on the world would be. That she fails but she can still be enough - eventually, that all the sacrifices that have been done so far will be in vain if she gives up. That would work as a positive message I think. There are other ways to make this work but I am sure you get my point. As someone who went through several serious spells of depression and was close to where Ruby was more than once, it is physically disturbing/painful for me to watch - first time I ever felt that way about a work of fiction - didnt think I could get bothered like this. I will drop a few more thoughts down here in a bit less of a rant. I personally rate this volume dead last - with the conclusion they really didnt get further - development was neutered and when I tried to list lasting effects of the volume the two things that I ended up with was Jaune having grey streaks in his hair and Bumblebee kissing which feels like nowhere near enough when the plot is put on hold for full season. I am very concerned about the "When" - I hate timetravel as a plot device and unless this is at most few months after the Fall of Atlas, it will be a massive plothole as it turns out Salem is sitting twirling her thumbs, waiting for the team to come back. Anyways thats about all I had to say (I wish I could somehow just watch your thoughts to react to, I remember the plot well enough but I guess this will have to do). Looking forward to seeing what you will be up to next :P

Yeah I get your frustrations, I really feel like the pacing on this one was a bit rushed. They’ve had a lot of hard hitting stuff in this seasons and not a lot of time to really flesh it out properly in my opinion. All in all I wouldn’t say I hated this season but it definitely wasn’t my favourite one 😅

Hi The Fine, I respect that you're trying to avoid ranting (I swear half the FNDM is just watching to do that). And I'm aware you've said it cuts close to home. Just want to say I agree with a lot of what you've said, and @Rykage is the first reactor I've seen that isn't just gushing over it all. The tone has been all over the place this Volume, and while I'm OK with the outcome, I don't understand the journey at all. Which, given Ruby's "smaller soul" has been the whole point since V1Ch1 is such a shame. I do still hope we get a V10, and that the writers are smart enough to fix it.

Not sure if you found out about it or not, but the Blu-ray was released on Oct. 3 and contains commentary on the series. There is a google doc that has everything on it. In it they talk about the budget issues and how they had to cut thing out. One of the scenes cut out is a scene between WBY+J and the Cat where the Cat explains Ruby's decision to drink the tea.
