Wow..how sad the world is today. It celebrates infidelity and divorce. Instead of communicating and working on their marriage they let it fall apart and she leads on a young man in the process, and you guys are all like, "Yay! Bravo for her!" I understand sometimes these things happen. I don't judge those that have it happen to them..but still, it shouldn't be celebrated!

I actually watched the movie and there isn't no happy ending at all. she doesn't stay with her husband or stay with Caleb she leaves them both. In the movie she askes her husband What's the purpose of their relationship. caleb and Jane's relationship had a purpose. after years of being in a strained relationship she felt fresh, new, and liked doing fun things. he made her realize what she wanted in life so she ended up leaving both of them. yeah both of their hearts got broken but she learned some important things about herself.

I pretty much agree with peTEA. Cheating shouldn’t be glorified or anything, especially in films which have the power to be misleading and influential, but this seems kinda realistic. What’s the point in trying to force yourself into loving someone, when there’s no love there? It seems she only married her husband for the baby, a baby she later lost. I don’t think she was passionately, crazily, utterly in love with Caleb, but the feelings she had with him and around him allowed her to feel happy and realize what all’s out there- her time with him gave her a realization. That she was unhappy and didn’t want to be where she was anymore, and that she COULD be happy. I feel bad for the kid, and the husband, but it makes... sense? Idk.

I truly recommend this movie. It is from her perspective as a film. And it portrays the human condition almost like a harsh reality that we are all trying to escape from. Her dreams are phantoms she can never quite catch up to and when she does get them and cheats she realizes they aren't even what she really wants. It is a sick irony an a true beauty

I felt a hard kick in the stomach while I was watching this. It was complete spot on. This is my story, my boyfriend is working in a high pressure job while I dont work. I thought about cheating but I never slept with him though we hang out with a younger guy coz I thought I'm invisible to him never gives me enough attention and never curious of my day to day life. So I ended up breaking up with him and told me "go wherever you are happy". I can very well relate to the movie. Kate B. I think she still does love her husband but too hurt coz she can't get or see what she expects to see in him, he's quiet, serious and most esp dedicated to his career shove her aside but doesn't completely mean he doesn't love her. But there is no denying their relationship is....empty. They can't talk about anything she was liberated, no matter how hard she tries to connect with him she just can't, he's not the man she is clearly looking for. He's just not there.
@anonymouse77734 жыл бұрын
Maybe what’s missing in your life is not the man of your life, but finding your own passion, whether that is work or art or meditation or whatever. I have nothing against a woman being a stay at home mom or a good girlfriend, but the truth of this world is that it has become a lot more career based and it’s hard to find a person that will really sit down and pay attention to another. So, go out there and find your hidden talents. Also, make some good friends; friends are different because they’ll always be there for you but there’s also no obligation for complete loyalty, like that of a partner. Sometimes the deepest and longest relationships are friendships. Also I’m sorry about what happened with your relationship, you’re a good person for not cheating and for being open and honest with your partner.

I think the movie tries to show what happens when love fades and when another person comes along. It shows how people easily fall in and out of love. Movies like these are realistic -- you're not supposed to find them beautiful or romantic. You can, but you also have to see the realism behind many home-wrecking situations.

honestly I think this movie is really powerful and relatable to most people who are living in this situation. Marriage is not always perfect, and yes I know communication is key but you reach a point where you feel like it's pointless because let's be honest would you like it if you tell your husband hey! buy me flowers or when he just does without telling him? right it's two different scenarios but it goes along way. I believe this movie has a really good ending because she chose neither one of them. With the kid, she felt sense of self, care, euphoria, and attention that she miss in her marriage, but she left them both because she didn't want to continue being miserable with her husband neither does she want to stay with the kid because deep down she know it's not ganna last. However, she realized that she should focus on herself. I liked it, it's very relatable in a way where I can say that even when she cheated, she didn't seem to be a horrible character to me as much as I felt toward her husband.

One of my fave movies. I've seen this months and months ago but it's bothering me because there have been comparisons between this and The Lifeguard because they have the same storyline, but trust me, they're very different. I actually saw The Lifeguard months before watching this and I can say I liked this one better. I love it, it's one of my (three) comfort movies. Some may find this boring because it is quiet and a bit slow paced but that's what I loved about it, it's not overwhelming with scenarios that barely happen in real life, it's not loud, it's almost so real, I wished I was her (mostly because i fell in love with jamie blackley). It took a while before Kate showed emotions though.

Loved it. It was very artistically crafted. I love the occasional intrusion of the Grandma's voice that seemingly narrates the scene or the general direction of the story. I love the consistency of the husband's character, the youthfulness of Caleb and the carefree attitude he brings, and I love how Jane chose herself instead of either the two at the end. I love the transitions, the song at the end, and the setting! Highly recommended!
