0:03 Yes. The writing of DAI is, frankly, amazing... The story, the world-building, characters, dialogues - all of it is top tier. Again, my favorite writing in Dragon Age games. Now, the open world is gigantic. And it can be overwhelming. BUT the game allows you to focus on whatever you want so you can safely ignore any side quest you may find tedious. But yeah, this game is top tier, my favorite DA.

I think they all work fine it's just a matter of your preference. 5-7 might be the perfect sweet spot for you. not too fast but since you will not play the game completions style and are moving fast, you will not walk around for ages, so it's ok to have banter trigger more often to hear most of it. most people never hear all banter that exists in single playthrough :)

so... cool tip for fighting mages like at 05:00. Dispel is very useful in this game. you hit a mage with dispel and for a while they can't teleport or cast spells. so you can just destroy them. It can also be used on any magical enemies... like demons, wraiths and even dragons. Dispel can also help you destroy rifts faster by dispelling those light spots on the ground where new demons pop out. so it's multipurpose spell :)

There are 2 romances between companions in Inquisition but they only start if you're not romancing any of them. They start quite late in the game so it should be after you've already locked in your romance to avoid overlap. There are 6 romance options for a female elf and as of last episode you have met all of them.

This is not really related to your playthrough, but yesterday I had long discussion with someone online about video games in general. This person was roughly half my age (I am in my mid 40s now) and it was very interesting to learn about a very different perspective. One of the few games both of us loved was Dragon Age and this was one of the messages I sent about my thoughts on whole chantry business in Dragon Age and I just wanted to share this here. All the Dragon Age games (I don't know about Veilguard) do a great job of highlighting the stark differences in the experience by mages of being in the circle, and how their personal experience shapes their view of the system overall. Not all circles were bad but some were horrible for mages, and even within the circles not every mage had the same experience. The main problem with circles and the chantry rule over the mages was that as it was it was doomed to fail and a revolt by the mages was inevitable, because the chantry and through it the templars had complete authority over the mages. And even if the intentions were good and pure, if one group of people is given full authority over another to the point where they can decide whether they live or die/are made tranquil, there will always be abuse. Just like that real life experiment where one group of people were made prisoners and the other group their wardens. That ended in disaster and so did the chantry rule over the mages in this series. 10 years ago, when I first played Inquisition and 13 years ago when I played DA2 I did not fully appreciate the complexity of the whole mage/templar conflict. As I grew older and started to view video games as more than just a means of entertainment and escapism, I came to appreciate the Dragon Age series on a whole new level and I already loved it from the very first moment I started playing Origins 15 years ago.

I've gotten the Dorian moustache bug before! Unfortunately it's probably an interaction with your hair mods. You might need to use a different one, or make sure you only have one installed at a time to fix it. (Also I am a simp for Solas and I hope you end up with him, but I love this playthrough regardless)

Aw yay I'm so glad you got a working banter mod! I wish I could help you with the hair mod you have, I noticed a few times it switches on and off haha. Not that it's a bother as a viewer, but it's probably annoying for you 🤣 I'm so glad you're enjoying Vivienne as I think she may be the most hated companion of all time. I get it's a pretty unpopular opinion to not want mages to have freedom, but she does have legitimate reasoning for it and it's not just because she's "in it for the power". I love her quick wit and intelligent shade, she really knows how to read a bitch down. The first time I saw the scene with her insulting Fiona in that really condescending voice it made me howl with laughter! As a little tip; you will get a companion later on in the game who I highly suggest taking out with you during exploration. Theirs and Vivienne's banter let's you in to alot more about who she is and why she truly thinks like she does. It's really a great injustice to her character that Bioware locked many important facts about her behind banter, especially in a game where without mods it's extremely rare for it to activate. Dorian is everything ❤️ Absolutely love him. I know you already completed in hushed whispers, I hope you enjoyed it. I think it's one of my favourite of this games quests. @_shhenanigans_ haha in fairness Viv has become a lot more popular these days (as I've learned very recently), but she was definitely the most hated back when inquisition came out. I don't know what made Sera click for me, but I did feel exactly the same initially. When you first meet her I physically cringed at how she was acting, but as time went on and I saw other sides of her, yeah. But it doesn't matter anyway, you're entitled to feel how you feel and the fact is she is quite a jarring character in this games setting, so it feels understandable that some people just won't gel with her.

Ah Dorian, I went into the game expecting to dislike him, this coming from him being from Tevinter, a place we hear nothing good from, and my own inherent biases I had at the time. Dorian is one of my usual party members, damage output was outstanding and paired with Bull is an extremely deadly combo, also funny banter between the two helped with the likability of both, Tevinter Noble working with a Qunari Spy the joke tells itself.

Shen, remember to cast (or have a mage like Solas) Dispell Magic on the rifts as they are forming. It will seal them before they erupt and reduce the demon load you have to deal with. Sometimes you get lucky and can even cast DM between two rifts as they are forming, and you can seal them both.

I see you have that "instant complete wartable mod"-thing! It's super handy :) Some missions have "good" and "bad" solutions (some are even a long chain of missions!), which can results in different unique cosmetic rewards! It might be worth having a look at the Wiki once you reach the next act, to see if there's any cosmetic stuff that you want to unlock :D

With more time I’m sure they would’ve changed Fenris’ reaction though.

One crucial thing about party banter is that afaik even with mods the timer resets on any fast travel. Of the mods, the one that worked most naturally for me was the 5-7 minute one (but I also have the habit of switching one party member out every campsite so there’s little risk of running out of banter.)

And I think certain opinions in fandoms make me hate it even more because someone recently said “leave Garrus alone, that man is for tali” and apparently that’s a pretty normal take. It just creates the opportunity for weird discourse, as if there isn’t enough of that already.

The cost to the other missions on the War Table is an IRL (!) timer. Looks like you have the zero duration mod but there’s also a quicker war table missions mod that just reduces the time so IF you want a little extra minichallenge, that forces you to make more compromises who to select.

Wouldnt it be weird if they never spoke about other NPCs seeing as they all do life and death missions together and presumably do other things when the PC is not there? Makes them feel more alive to think they are actively doing stuff while you are away and not just standing there in the same spot waiting, pretending no one else in the world exists would feel odd Crazy to think how much time you can spend in Inquisition if you actually want to explore the characters and lore. You are only very early on in the game, youll know when you know

Despite the bad rap it got, I really enjoyed it except the materials grinding for the best equipment. The dragons look amazing as well, possibly the best dragons I've seen in a game

So as far as relationships go I believe it’ll give you an indicator that you’re locked in. The only exception is Blackwall. You’ll eventually have a new base. Once you’re there flirting with blackwall soft locks it in. lol that rift you died in I swear was put in the hinterlands just to teach you some fights will be initially out of your league. I don’t know how many times I died on my first play through at that rift lol. That and two random bears in the hinterlands. If they catch you early in the game it’s run time lol.

Im guessing someone already commented it but you'll know once you're close to locking in a romance because if you continue to flirt with others they'll comment something like "arent you with X" and then you can still break it off with them if you want to pursue someone else.
