Your registration and tempo suit the piece very well. I too remember this sort of music from my youth - which is a lot longer ago than yours!!

Thanks Andrew! I like this kind of music that isn't played much anymore nowadays. While it's the kind of music that many people can appreciate because of the clear rhythm and melody.

Good to hear you play a piece by a forgotten English composer, and it's interesting to see how your chosen registration and tempo really changes the character of the music from soft;y reverential to grandly majestic! A stately performance on the glorious Marcussen Organ sample set: bravo, Rien!

I found this on IMSLP. Nice piece...I've played it for postlude.
@RienSchalkwijk7 күн бұрын
Did you play it bold like me or a bit less loud?
@melvinpotts32397 күн бұрын
@@RienSchalkwijk I believe I used a Principal Chorus (with 8'Flute/Viola from Swell) of 8-4 for the entire piece. Played softer parts on Swell.

That's a nice discovering. Many thanks for sharing the sheet, I've dowwnloaded it. It looks like music for my small organs. Did you use the suggestion for pedaling?
@RienSchalkwijk7 күн бұрын
Thank you. I play the pedal rather intuitive. I only look at the pedaling suggestions if I got stuck or, like in the case of this kind of music I can't play it as legato as I wanted. But this was a near sight reading recording, so I didn't need the help.
@intermezzo-musikalischestr29876 күн бұрын
@@RienSchalkwijkAlthough I understand this writing method I can't read it fast enough while playing, so I ignore it ... For myself I only write r (right) or l (left) - if it is necessary. I find this easier.

Er leuke compositie, lekker power. Als je dan het koraal (wat ik niet herken nu zo snel) met een hand vol mensen wil meezingen wordt dat dan wel een uitdaging 🙂. Goed gespeeld.
@RienSchalkwijk7 күн бұрын
Dank Nils! Ik denk dat de koraal meer een stijlfiguur is, niet gebaseerd op een hymn. Maar het koraal deel zit alleen in het onderste manuaal. Zo zingen zou eventueel moeten lukken!
@nilsvanvelzen7 күн бұрын
