why are people so offended by someone playing to the left? If I remember correctly, the Doppler brothers did this almost 200 years ago. It seems they are just being historically correct. Amazing performance :)

Amazing versatility to play on both right and left handed flutes! Philosophically, I don't see why a left handed person would want a "left handed" flute. For the standard "right handed" flute the left hand does more work than the right anyway. :)

What's even more amazing is that Jan is playing OPEN G# flutes here, but played CLOSED G# in his demonstration video a few years ago (also shown on KZbin). I'd like to know more about why he converted and how hard that was.

+leo5208 Hey Leo Very well noticed!! Well in my opinion, the open G# is just the "simpler" mechanical option and because there is one hole less in total, what makes me believe that the tube is vibrating more effective. As well it makes more sense if you play a chromatic scale in the first two octaves. Only thin that has poped up ever since is that the closed D# annoys me now, after solving the g# ;-) It took me some month to be able to play comfortable again. After one week of changing to open G# I had to play in a concert, it worked, but it was very challenging in some tonalities... Today it is a beautiful feeling playing open G# on both sides. if you want to know more, write me a PM on my website jangrimm.ch and I can tell you more about the open G# and it's changing... Yours sincerely Jan

The left-handed flute must be a Parmenon; I don't know of any other manufacturer who produces one.

특별히 왼쪽방향으로 제작된 플룻으로 함께 연주한건데, 이 곡의 작곡가인 도플러형제들도 이렇게 연주했었대요...

What a shame to play such a flute? There’s no reason at all to play the flute the left way... and why is Maestro Jacot playing with him? Such a waste on time.
