Andersen Narroline Window (older 1980s model), Sash Removal & Counterbalance Replacement - Part 1

I posted this 2-pt video because I could not find another video describing how to remove the sashes from an older (1980s) Andersen Narroline Double-Hung Window. I needed to replace the counter-balances, and the first step is to remove the sashes. But in order to remove the sashes, this older style Andersen window requires removing the nailed-on sash stop from the window frame, as well as removal of the jamb liner. Both of these steps were problematic, as I could not find any instructions online or on the Andersen website. Hopefully these videos will help others with these older Andersen windows who prefer not to replace the entire window unit.

I forgot to mention that if I had removed the sash stop (2 vertical pieces of wood molding) first, I wouldn’t have had to cut the lip off the plastic jamb liner to remove it. That would have been the proper order of operations, but when I began I didn’t understand that I needed to pull off the sash stops first. Hopefully with this video you can avoid my missteps.
