This was a very helpful video! We have lived in this house for 8 years and the door has never operated correctly. I stumbled upon this video while looking for parts for the door. Thank you so much!

Caveat: This solution worked well for me also. I have inswing french doors, and the active door was scraping on the sill. I raised it and no more friction. However, the door would not lock, as the upper and lower latches were getting hung up on the stationary door. half a turn and now the door latches, locks and doesn't scrape.

I'm visiting a friend in Provincetown MA over Christmas. He has several of these doors one of which was badly out of adjustment. I watch this video once and then played it along as I adjusted the door. Great video and great door hardware. Thanks

I have to adjust mine each year. Your video is a great help and I have it bookmarked on my laptop under my DIY folder. And thanks for mentioning it requires a 5/32 hex wrench as I forget the size about a week later! Cheers!

I have one of these doors (thanks heavens, only one) and it's enough to drive me crazy at least twice a year ... that's when I have to pull out my tools and make another adjustment.... at least it *can* be adjusted while all others cannot... then it's a given: if there was no "3-points lock" it would rarely get out of adjustment.... let me see, I replaced the rubber gasket: pain in the ass to take it out and remove the gasket... the door is super heavy - Last repair was the handle spindle that was the crappy one with slits... it basically disintegrated - I got a new one solid. Let's see next it... not a matter of "if" but "when"...

For the vertical adjustment, I had to use a 6mm Allen wrench and turn counter clockwise to raise.

Helpful video, but what causes the door to start to rub on the bottom about six weeks after the door has been adjusted. I have to keep adjusting the door up on a regular basis.

Thanks. Great video. Can you tell me what to do if I have to push in on the top of the door to turn the deadbolt? It’s so hard for my kids to lock.

exactly my problem, I even pinched a nerve in my arm, locking and unlocking when I have to lift the door up to lock it.
@darrenwilburn90854 жыл бұрын
@@jennifershafii1238 I found that if I bent the little tab at the bottom of the door where the lower latch is, it helped to make the adjustment needed to ease the lock mechanism. Give it a try. Maybe it will help you, too!

I’m wondering what the little hole is that has the L on it. Also my hinges have some play in it when you move that door up and down in the open position

The adjustment screw is stripped. How can I get new hinges?

You have to go to a Andersen window dealer, and I'm sure it will be expensive.

I watch this almost monthly and I've been adjusting both sides of this door weekly for over 6 months now. Left, right, up down, nothing seems to help. It sticks and creeks no matter what. The paint is getting worn off, the threshold has got nothing but scrape marks all over it and the outside metal casing of the main swinging door is getting bent. Don't get it installed by Home Depot. Every time they come out to "make it right" it only lasts for a week or two. I know Home Depot sucks but I thought Andersen was a quality product. My question is which sucks more? HD or Andersen

+hightpt We are sorry to hear you are having problems with the operation of your Frenchwood hinged patio door. Your patio door should be checked for proper adjustment and installation. The installation should be plumb, level and square and installation screws used. To determine if installation screws were used, the fastener covers on the exterior of the frame need to be removed. Adjusting the hinges typically resolves an issue with the panel rubbing on the sill or jamb. If the hinges will not stay in adjustment, replacement hinges may be needed. To properly diagnose your concern, it would be best for you to contact us at 855-337-8825 so we can further assist you.

A lot of the problems come from the installer not having a clue about how to use a level or tape measure. The door should be plumb and sq in the opening. Shimmed evenly too . And unfortunately the instructions are not as good as KZbin video. Anderson should include a video or info to a link on KZbin. I have been building homes for 30 years and Anderson is my first choice. Although the Reps out in my area few to be had .

Robert is RIGHT ON... I installed my door in 2006. About 2 weeks ago I noticed a slight drag when I went to open the moving panel. It was installed so long ago that although I remembered the hinges were adjustable. Rather than dig through the paperwork to find the original instruction I looked at this video It took longer to watch the video then it took me to get the hex wrench and adjust the door. This is the 1st time anything on this door has bee adjusted in 15 years. I'll probably not live long enough to have to make another adjustment. It All comes down to the quality of the installation. If it is installed Level, Plumb, Square, with the bolts provided and properly shimmed, it requires little to no maintenance assuming the house structure itself is not moving!!!! I only got 38 Years out of the Andersen Naro-line Perma-Shield windows I installed when I built my house in 1978. I replaced them because they were 38 years old. Not because they were leaking or broken. 38 year old thermo-panes and not a single broken/leaking seal!!!! Replace them 5 years ago with Replacement by Andersen. Just as good as the originals!!! Andersen simply makes a quality product. It's all I will buy!!!!! Mal Leichter Hebron, CT

@@malleichter7299 Sigh, six years later and I'm still dealing with the same problems. I've had to replace broken hinges, (over $100 each! )adjusted them, and it worked like a champ. For a week! And then the same #(^% started happening again. Because I live in the northeast I can't adjust it in the late fall and winter unless I want the inside temperature of my house to be 40 degrees. (I will say that during the cold months it gets opened and closed about 25-30 times a day because of the dogs that we have, but I don't think that should make a difference on a really expensive door that should work.) I've put a level on the top of the door and it's about 1/8th of a bubble off. I'd hate to pay big bucks to have a contractor come out and rip the whole thing out and then reinstall it if I don't have to, but your and Robert's reply make it sound like that's what I should do.

it's a good vid/ my issue is though my adjustment ability is very limited because the andersen people didn't do the best job of "squareness with the opening. smh
