Bought a pre-loved one of these (in immaculate condition) which cost £1045 (was 1195 but traded in a guitar as well for £150). So now got a Taylor 412ce-R and a Fender Professional Strat (HSS) along with the Acoustasonic - feel that together that covers a lot of bases. Guess it a “marmite” guitar - you either love it or hate it. I love it! Not sure I would have paid full price for new. PS bought on finance so one of the questions in the shop was “are you married?” My reply was “at the moment yes, but maybe not when I get the guitar home”
@GuitarJeff5 жыл бұрын
So I have one I really do love it. For playing life and the number of sounds you get from it is great. I am not sorry I got it but it really has a lot of downfalls that needs fixed. First it comes with a very shoddy gig bag. 3 of them had to get shipped to me because they couldn't survive the shipping. The gig bag is really barely padded. At this price hard shell case should be a.must. if not, a much better gig bag. PRS gig bags are awesome copy them. Locking tuners. At this price and no locking tuners. The tuners are also strained and bend back towards the neck. While we are on the tuners and strings. Acoustic plastic pins for the other end. These suck. Hard to get out and then hard to stay back in. Could have put a secondary block of wood to hold the ball ends so we aren't messing with these pins. It's a little neck heavy. This thing is really light which is great but the neck end is heavy compared to the body. This causes you to hold the neck up while playing. Other than those issues it's really a good guitar. I don't regret buying it at all. I have had a lot of fun with it as well.
@MarkDyson5 жыл бұрын
Read your appraisal with great interest. I have a few PRS models and I agree their gig bags are top shelf. Hope my Acoustasonic is spared the travails of yours and arrives in one piece! I personally prefer a good gig bag to a hard case and was hoping for better from Fender's take on them.
@V4D25 жыл бұрын
Being neck heavy kind of puts me off a little bit. But I am still very interested in playing one of these. Would I still be better off with buying a ..say.. a Godin and a traditional tele? Or a Martin, for eg? I like this new fender because I am a songwriter that plays a LOT of acoustic, but I really like to use heavy tone electric on top.

I think this is a cool guitar which will take a bit of time to get used too. For me, I’ll stick with my Martin OM28E and John English built Nocaster, but I could be tempted by this with 10's rather than 12's. It certainly looks the part, much nicer than my T5.
@MarkDyson5 жыл бұрын
Great stuff. This is replacing two of my guitars that have just become obsolete (literally: I just traded them in for credit towards getting one of these). YMMV but after weeks of review I love the tones and the look, the price is fair for what's going on under the hood, and it's going to become my gigging staple. Counting the days until my order arrives. It's not for everyone, of course-so if it doesn't appeal to you just don't get one.

What about the Fender Roland strat, that thing was great. It was a plain strat as we all know them but then you could switch to different acoustics including 12 string, nylon and resonator. Idk if anyone else listened to this with subwoofers, and deep ones, but whoa. I think it was that pickup inside. Anyway something was rattling my house in this video. @MarkDyson5 жыл бұрын
@@indiefruit Or one American Original or Elite Tele. Or one Memphis Gibson. Two grand for a guitar has been around for ages, this one is hardly exceptional cost-wise. Let's not even get into the special editions that cost twice as much, or more. This guitar is the result of a metric boat-load of research and development, not to mention premium level manufacturing, and the cost reflects that.
@MarkDyson5 жыл бұрын
@@indiefruit Not trying to pick a fight, really; just pointing out that this price point is far from unusual for premium guitars. The guitar in question might migrate to a lower-end market at some point-and I'd be all for that, it means the idea was considered a success-but for now it's very much a premium, niche model and the cost is right in line for that market.
@GadgetyRon5 жыл бұрын
@@MarkDyson Yep, they have a LOT of R&D costs to recoup, not to mention the cost of manufacturing it right here in California, and of course buying the expensive pickups and/or paying whatever licensing fees they may have with Fishman. Figure 30% of the price goes to the retail store, and that doesn't leave a huge profit margin for Fender, unless they sell a bunch of 'em. First time I caught a glimpse of this thing I thought it was hideous, and didn't even give it a second look. Then I saw and heard the demos at the NAMM show, went directly to GC on my way home, and bought one that night. As a primarily electric player who also likes to do solo acoustic stuff, this thing is darn near a perfect fit for me. I strung it with .011's, and lowered the action a little bit at the nut. It's become one of my favorite guitars already. And the look does grow on you. I'm sure Les Pauls, Strats, and Teles were considered ugly when they were first introduced. I love weird guitars, so this totally works for me, once I got past the initial shock. I also own a Taylor T5Z, and there's just no comparison. The T5Z is cool, but it doesn't do a credible acoustic tone, and while the electric tones are okay, it doesn't have enough sustain to make those tones work well. The Acoustasonic does a very credible job on the acoustic tones (as long as you listen with your ears, not your eyes), and also does a nice job on a Tele-ish electric tone.

I love the concept of these and the plugged in acoustic sounds are pretty good. To me the electric sounds don't sound much like a real Tele at all. I guess they would be usable live if you just wanted to use it every now and then. I'd probably get one at half the price but I don't see the value, as others have said you could get an acoustic and a Telecaster that both sound better than this for the same price.

It's a "front man's" guitar... more than a guitarists guitar. I think they fill a niche for players who gig or maybe song writers...any role where the versatility would prove handy. But they dont really replace any of the guitars they emulate because they rely a lot on an amp. Fender will have a MIM version or maybe a Squire version at some point....and probably a Strat style also. I dont hate them and I dont love them. For me they are somewhere in the middle.

Omg I’ve never fallen in love with a guitar at 1st sight! Can I have one pretty please 🙏 I would never need to buy another guitar in my life! I’ve had an autoimmune condition for 15 years (no joke), have not worked in all that time even though i had just graduated from uni pre-diagnosis and my mum recently died. I’m seriously broke, was very nearly made homeless and could seriously do with some good karma to get my mojo back. I own 1 guitar - a Simon & Patrick SP 6 spruce which I have played to death for over 20 years since I got it for my 16th bday and it’s like an extension of my arm - but I’ve reached the limits of what I can do with it.
