I really like these "Captain Meets" episodes. 9 times out of 10 it's someone interesting I know nothing about so I get an hour or so of entertaining guitar chat and a bunch of new music to listen to on top. More please :)

A group of us went to see Joe Bonamassa at the Corner Hotel in Melbourne Australia probably 12 years ago I guess. Support act was JST and none of us had heard of her before then and as support acts go we didn’t expect much. How wrong we were! She walked on stage and blew us away instantly like a lightning bolt had hit. I kid you not as it was so unexpected and so awesome it’s stuck in my mind I think forever. Been a huge fan ever since. Her playing and her voice with that edge to it is bliss.

Good for you Joanne! You knew what you liked early on and went for it! Love your sound. I have loved the blues for years and also have done some songwriting and singing. But I'm much older now. About the same age as Cheryl Crow. I understand the struggle with girls vs boys should be such and such. I have great respect for you and enjoy listening to you! I know the industry is hard. You are doing well for yourself. Happy for you! It's rare now to find a woman who plays guitar, sings and writes her own songs. So glad I found you on KZbin. I will be looking for a concert near me.

Very enjoyable interview! This was the first time I'd had the opportunity to get a sense of Joanne's personality. She's bright and positive, and a real joy as a person. It's great to see that! I'm also glad to know that her career is going well. I enjoy her singing and playing very much. I still remember the first time I heard her. I bought her "White Sugar" CD several years ago. The first track really grabbed me, like Whoa! This is fantastic! Wishing you all the best, Joanne!

Good interview. You can hear Joanne’s music in America on Cable Television Music Blues Channel and on the radio at Sirius XM Radio the Blues Channel. Matt has his own Two Rock model amp and he is most definitely endorsed by Two Rock Amplification. Howard Dumble will build you an amp if you are an advanced skilled known musician. You can expect at least one year for the build to be finished after spending around six months playing for him and getting to know your style, he then builds what he thinks would suit you best. Nice Albert Collins Custom Shop Tele and story behind it Joanne. I love your music and hope to see you playing the New Orleans Jazz Festival. Samantha Fish, who now lives in New Orleans, Carolyn Wonderland and Ruthie Foster are showing up pretty much on a regular basis and you need to as well. After New Orleans, a lot of the musicians go to the west coast and then work their way back across America and later into the summer, they end up in the northeastern part of the U.S. due to the heat outdoors. Thanks.

Thank you Ms Taylor .. and Lee of course Right after this I dug out my LP copy and jammed Red House - Taylor, Gales & Koz My dog died yesterday so I wuz feelin' the blues somewhat ... 😢. He had a good long life though. Still sad nevertheless .. I'm slowly turning from a pretty good all round bass player into an absolutely third class thin string guitarist (third class may be boasting a bit 😜).

Great interview. Phenomenal talent. If you don't know Joanne's music and like a great guitar solo check out the track Wild is the Wind from the Wild album. There's a great solo at the end of the track, it sounds like the song is about to finish and then Joanne goes for another solo and just takes it to another level. Check it out, enjoy.

Bonnie Raitt is without a doubt the best female guitarist I've ever seen live. Blues or country or rock her name should be mentioned all the time IMO. She used to be backup vocals for Little Feat in the early years. Watching Lowell George? not a bad thing lol. Today it's cool there are many more female guitarists. Bonnie for me will always be at the top. Hats off to Joanne she can really play that Albert Collins Tele.
