To my ears, the Orange wins this one but it had a lot of help from the delay. I thought the EQ actually made it sound worse but overall, I liked it more. I might have gone with something a bit cheaper than the 5150 and added a few more effects. Also, this was good.

Well they sound best together to be fair , that orange rig is perfect for rhythm and the Evh was perfect for lead , Ben’s rig sounded thick and juicy in the mids what carry’s the heft of the sound and John’s is spikey and sort of thin sounding with a very high register fizzyness that cuts trough the mix like a battle axe .

Looking for a begginers rig i would probably go Hotone Ampero II, its decent enough to keep you entertained and its conveniet. Everything else is going straight into guitar. I fould either get an FRFR monitor later or experiment with real amps, but if i am on a budget and i am fresh to guitar world (basically these two together are almost always the case) a reasonably priced modeller plus a decent guitar is the go for me.

My cheapest metal rig for 1000 (insert your currency here) would be this: Guitar: Ibanez RGA42FM or Ibanez RG421PB (both around 400 EUR) or if you don't need tuner pedal: FGN Boundary Odyssey (549 EUR which is a steal for a japanese guitar!) Pedals and Amp (=493 EUR): TC Electronic PolyTune 3 (good buffer and tuner) Tone City Kaffir Lime (great to control bass/treble) Mooer Micro PreAMP 005 (for really heavy stuff) or Mooer Micro PreAMP 012 (if you like boosted brown sounds) Mooer Baby Bomb 30 W (plenty loud to play with a drummer) Harley Benton G112 Celestion V30 (sorry but this is the cheapest way to get a decent V30 cab) This goes on a really small pedalboard and is the ultimate lightweight rig.

For the purposes of the video. The guy on the right's rig sounded better. But I have owned that Orange setup before - without the EQ pedal - and I was not happy with it. I question wether there is any chance you could hear it over a drum kit either. And the 5150 sounds way better in person. But whatever. I havn't watched one of these in years, back when Rabea was doing them. This was entertaining and fun
@compucorder6410 ай бұрын
I'm more into Doom / Stoner metal. So I'd get an Epiphone SG Standard. In Alpine White. And a Marshall DSL20 combo amp. For pedals, a Electro-Harmonix Nano Metal Muff, because it has EQ and a gate too. And a TC Magus Pro, because it does the heavy Fat Rat sound, and the gnarly Turbo Rat sound. Fuzz & Rat together would get me toward that Sunn O))) Life Pedal sound. Can play the octaves by hand :)

Under a thousand? You can do this under 500$ and sound spectacular! Will it have tubes? If You look used and very hard. The sound of Chinese manufactured pedals, preamps,speakers, power amps and guitars is absolutely stellar these days. For under a hundred You could have a set up floor and tour rig. If You can watch a video about intonation (really easy) You can have an Amazing Metal Guitar that no one would know how cheap You were cause You sound so awesome! Don’t get Me wrong I used to have to Have a Mesa Boogie Triple Rectifier, matching Oversized 4/12,Boutique tube screamers and the like, a Gibson Sg Standard and PRS S2 standard 24 satin for back up and I understand marketing and the consumer base, and the need to feel “professional”, it just isn’t worth it to Me these days because I can emulate it to a blindfolded challenge debate and debacle. Been doing this along time and In this case I would mix match these two rigs and have 600 ish left to spend! Well 400 with cab. Awesome even though I would totally not pick any of these choices. (Maybe the Jackson but different color) yep I’m bored but 100 percent being factual!

John wins rhythm and riffs, Bens wins lead/ melodic runs. Both will compliment eachother in a mix almost perfectly. Last thing you want is rhythm with a lot of delay or reverb. Bens will not chug nicely, and the lack of delay on Johns is a no go for a lead/solo
@emartinezr9 ай бұрын
That 5150 has a built-in Boost that brings up the tone for leads (adds Gain and Level). I think he should have tried it. It doesn't truly do what Delay does, but it brings up the leads nicely.

Here would be my picks (Current Prices in USD from Sweetwater): 1. POD GO: $375 + $20 (You can by AMAZING IRs and Presets for like $20 and really transform this), personal fav: Fremen Presets 2. Boss Katana MKII: $229 (Only interested in MKII since they have POWER AMP IN - so directly acts as a CAB for POD GO, can also be used as AMP if needed) Both 1 and 2 total 624 USD 3. Now you have $376 for a guitar, so depending on what you play, you can try couple of these. However, you may need a lil more for a decent guitar 3.a. Jackson Dinky Arch Top JS32 - new one for $399 - Amazing fret work and great pickups for the price. Comes with A Floyd Trem system - not the best but pretty stable. 3.b. If you shell a little more for a Schecter Omen 6 - that would be the best choice but will put you 50-100 USD above the budget.
