Flashy cars in a modest town ? It was like this into the late 70 s We really did cruise the streets in high powered cars that are considered classic now .and our high school parking lot was just as impressive. My favorite car was my friend's 1969 GTO with 400 cubic inch 400 horsepower engine 4 speed . I remember going 140 mph on the way to school .

I noticed what you were saying regarding Wolfman Jack always being there, the reason why is because George always tried to include a God like figure in his films because he wanted people to think about God. Wolfman Jack is the God like figure of this film

I connect to this movie now as an adult .I see myself as John Milner's character that graduated in 60' and me in 20' ,an adult that wants to have fun like we did in highschool .As for the other characters curt and steve ,there like my friends that are graduating in 22' like in the movie 62' .They are deciding what to do in life after highschool and dont want to stay stuck in the past like me or how they dont want to be stuck in modesto like john.

I have three words for this movie ! It's fine. I do really like the actors a lot, and most of them became much bigger stars after this. I do not know if you all were ever able to see the TV shows over here like Laverene & Shirley ( Cindy Williams ) and Threes Company ( Susan Sommers ) and Mackenzie Phillips ( One Day at a Time) were on very popular shows. I also like as you said the look of the film, and I love Wolfman Jack alot, but the story was a bit strung out for me, I honestly think this films pacing was very slow. I think this movie is just fine. Great pick you guys I cannot wait until next week. Take care guys!

They never really aired over here, even later in their syndication it was rare for them to pop up on cable channels. There is an interesting section of American TV that seems like it was quite influential without ever making over the pond; you'll have to let us know which shows are still with checking out - Andy H

Overrated film. Cinematography was gorgeous and fun soundtrack. That said, has really bad pacing issues and the scenes are not well connected at all. All the characters are pretty unlikable other than the one who rode around with the 13 yr old. 6.5/10 at best.

Also, can you stomach all 7 hours of Sergei Bondarchuk’s War and Peace?
