Recipe Steps:
Soak 1/2 cup urad dal for 3-4 hours and grind it to a smooth paste with a little water.
In a mixing bowl, combine the ground urad dal paste with 1 cup rice flour, 1/4 teaspoon cumin seeds, a pinch of asafoetida (hing), and salt to taste.
Add a little water to form a thick dough.
Divide the dough into small portions and shape them into round balls or small discs.
Heat oil in a deep pan for frying on medium heat.
Gently drop the dough balls or discs into the hot oil and fry until golden brown and crispy.
Remove the fried Sunnundas from oil and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil.
Serve hot with chutney or sambar.
