Steam bending the riven wood straight so you could power plane while maintaining grain alignment was super clever! I don’t know if that’s a traditional way of handling riven wood, but I’ve never seen a technique quite like that before. Well done!!

Hi from Australia 🇦🇺 I've just found your channel and I'm so pleased there's no narration, only the sound of a craftsman working with wood and his tools, thank you for that. I enjoy watching Epic Upcycling and the craftsman works the same as you(, occasionally music in the background not overpowering), there is no narration just the relaxing sounds of a craftsman, and therapeutic benefits.

Great video! My dad and I demonstrated making wooden buckets (with riven wood rings) at the Ohio Sate fair for about 15 and 10 years respectively with few deviations from what you presented. The few deviations were: (1). No power tools (other than the chain saw to cut the logs. (2). White oak rings, made from a green log without steam or heat. (3). No pegs And, yes there is a lot of wood waste to pick up.

Great video! My dad and I demonstrated making wooden buckets at the Ohio State Fair for a dozen years or so, along with other wooden vessels like mugs, piggins, trays, … . We used a few less in the way of power tools (chain saw for felling trees and cutting logs), so a lot more work, and a lot more wood waist. We also did not steam our bands, we used fresh white oak logs and relied on their flexibility. Again, great to see your work.
