The way it was edited makes it less clear, but Bix is running toward Cassian's location - where the Corpos are also heading - instead of running away like everyone else is (which is why the Corpo says "Not running home, are we..."). They suspect she's going to warn him and/or help him evade capture.

This is the episode that Andor went from "Oh well, this is a nice little change from the norm," to "Holy sh*t." ...at least for me

The characters (especially the "villains" or the morally "gray" ones) feel so real that I sometimes have to remind myself consciously that they’re not real and are just acting 🤣. Kudos to those actors!!

The childhood flashbacks take place a few years before the start of the Clone Wars. •The crashed Republic ship actually has a symbol that eventually becomes associated with the Separatists •In relation to that, the Rogue One visual dictionary established some backstory for Cassian, but this show reveals that it was most likely from documents forged by Maarva and Clem, like his home planet being Fest. One detail is that Cassian had joined an insurrectionist cell backed by the Seps at a young age after the death if his birth father. Given Maarva and Clem’s wariness of the Republic, the Andors may have had a real connection to them Clanging things is a somewhat common form of protest in some areas, like Puerto Rico’s “el cacerolazo” involving pots and pans I think I’m a bit too jaded, because I have no sympathy for Timm getting shot by the people whose presence he’s responsible for. Ofc he couldn’t know it would be this severe, but he still didn’t exactly have the noblest intention/motivation Couple rare instances of real life curse words on screen in Star Wars. Bastards and shit As you’ve seen later, Luthen’s ship has a built in droid co pilot, so it wasn’t necessarily the whistle that started it up 😂

This is ultimately a show about radicalization; about what it takes for a person to decide to rebel. It's very much a collectivist tale of class consciousness, and it outright refutes The Great Man Theory that Star Wars has abided - that rebellions are built on a single farm boy shooting a proton torpedo into an impossible target. Andor is all about *showing* how rebellions are built on people deciding *together* that they must fight back against an oppressive regime, because not doing so comes at an existential cost.

It also shows us the low level systematic evil of the Empire that causes all those people to be willing to fight and die in a rebellion.

The Ferrix residents have the clanging alarm system, which goes along with the anvil tower signal. That anvil is clearly a tuned instrument...the anvil man may have a whole symphony of rhythms and tunes meaningful to the townspeople. As I said, the Ferrix community is a character in this story. Two set-up episodes to make you care about the people. Then an arc conclusion to knock your socks off. This is an awesome series. The Empire is really shown in this series to be close to classically fascist, as opposed to just "people we don't like." Okay, I noted your proper use of "hanged." I love your attention to details, which will pay off in this series as it did with The Expanse.

Great reaction again… the fact that you were sad for Timm is important for me as less good reactors tend to hate him unequivocally and even cheer when he dies. It’s not (thankfully) a show that has characters as simple as that. Shades of grey. Timm is no worse than a lot of jealous, insecure people who are kidding themselves that they’re acting in their partner’s best interests. So - great job. Maarva also - yes, she saved Cassian’s life but she also took him away from his sister and his home. The parallels at the end make for such a beautiful and moving sequence. Looking forward to the weekly reactions from now on. And then you won’t have long to wait for season 2!

Andor is by FAR the most well made Star Wars project outside the movies. Clone wars will always be my favourite (not quite childhood, but close enough) but Andor just barely gets beaten by it. Every scene, every shot is art.

Here is my conclusions on the Corporates: They, like the Empire, suffer from complacency. They are so used to people complying or submitting to their authoity that the mere idea of defiance is unfathomable. Or at the very most, extremely unlikly... This leads to a misplaced sense of normalizing their dominance. They become bored by monotony. Reliant on technology as a substitute to their own allertness. Overly-empowered by weapons, armour or numbers. Arrogant in their ways. Obssessed in their traditional military doctrine involving conventional warfare, an unintentional remnent of the Clone Wars. Ultimately, they under-estimated their opponents. Went on to waste too many credits in one super-weapon, relying on Terror as an official government policy. That, among other reasons, is why They lost.
