The brilliance of the writing is that Andor does grow. He’s in the middle of the rebellion blooming. Cassian is a closed book. He said, “Everything’s Okay” when it’s not. But you know things are bubbling underneath. You know that he’s changing. You know that he hates the Empire now than episode one. He doesn’t realize that he’s honed his leadership skills in prison.
@BossAttack2 жыл бұрын
I would only disagree regarding your comments about Cassian. The prison arc is what showed his evolution and his change from apathy to rebel leader which we will likely see culminate in the finale. Make no mistake, Andor led the prison escape even though Kino was the face of it. That's his strength. In Narkina 5, he recognizes his own talents to see the good and the skills in others. Cassian's arc is not to become a type of Luke Skywalker hero, he is becoming more like Luthen. A organizer behind-the-scenes. Luthen finds the right people with the right skills and convinces them to give put their life on the line for a cause. Cassian is slowly demonstrating that he can also be that person. His strength is not being the guy on the loud speaker encouraging everyone to escape, it's recognizing that Kino is the guy to accomplish that task, convincing Kino he has it in himself, and stepping back to allow Kino to do it. We see that even in this episode when he and Melshi are hanging on to the cliff face to evade capture. Melshi tells Cassian that, "he can't hold on any longer." Yet, Cassian only tells Melshi that "he hears him." He doesn't tell Melshi, "you can do it." Rather he acknowledges his struggle, but allows Melshi to find that strength within himself to push on. Remember, Ep. 9 was "Nobody's Listening." Here and now, Cassian is listening and that gives strength to others.

With the regards to the munition Luthen used to disable the tractor beam, I could be wrong about this but I think it uses ballistic rounds to penetrate the enemy shields since shields in Star Wars seem to be primarily used against energy weapons rather than physical objects (ie. like the asteroids hitting the Star Destroyers in Empire Strikes Back). It's also worth noting, but I think it actually uses the tractor beam to help draw the munitions to the target with greater force (ie. the beam literally pulls the bullets towards the dish).

Luthen doesn’t have to get a new ship because they identified it. He used a transponder code that was fake and will use another transponder code that’s faked.
@Nico683112 жыл бұрын
Fun Fact: The ship at 13:28 is called “Cantwell-class Arrestor Cruiser”. Colin Cantwell, a concept artist who designed spacecraft for Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope, pitched the design to George Lucas for use in the movie (1977). Its original name was “Sith Carrier” and the dishes on its sides were intended to be used to destroy various ships. The idea was later adapted for the superlaser weapon of the Death Star. The ship also appears in the movie Solo: A Star Wars Story, but only in the deleted scenes. Also, the projectiles (14:26) use kinetic energy, which means that they pass through any/most Shields the Imperials might have. (Source: KZbinr: Lost Acolyte - kzbin.info/www/bejne/sHO1fX6kfd2aiqc)

What occurred to me after many watchings is that Luthen lies to Saw. I never considered that he doesn’t mistake the number of men from 50 to 30. He lies to him so that he will be more likely to side with him and let Kreger burn. It’s only 30 men not 50. Or is it a hundred? Who does Luthen trust? Only the girl in the shop. She’s been with him since the beginning. Fifteen years ago. They were together for order 66. They were Jedi and Padawan.

That kind of consistency of quality writing, acting and directing, and music all combined together is getting extremely rare nowadays. A perfect alchemy ! LOL “F that guy!” That’s such an aggressive dismissal of a fairly tragic character. Sure he made a bad decision that he clearly regretted that led to his own death, very Classical Greek tragedy. Who among us has never felt insecure or jealous or lied to or impatient? None of you have made a stupid decision while drunk? I thought Tim was such a tragic figure in the early parts of the show, driven by insecurity and ultimately suffered a pointless death because we see that Bix loved him, she had to be dragged away from his body, she clearly chose him instead of Cass. A bit of a long type over a minor character from episode 3 but I never found Tim deplorable, I found him flawed and VERY human and thought his death really showed how we can so easily doom ourselves.

Luthen's escape was so well thought out. They had shields up but it was a physical attack, not an energy attack. He find and escape and got them to turn the tractor beam all the way up.... Then use the Force of their own tractor beam to destroy the dish with physical projectiles. He won't need a new ship.... He gave them a bogus code. I mean a legit code.... But not actually his ships actual transponder code. Who knows how complicated his his AI assist systems are for navigation and weapons.... There's canon of using several droid computers in a ship to make complex AI's. It wasn't all Luthen's ability most likely, but he is a hell of of a pilot. Who knows how many contingency plans and maneuvers he has set up in advance. Enjoy your videos. Thanks. 😎💫

On the subject of the cruiser's shields, Star Wars ships have ray shielding for energy bolts and particle shielding for physical objects. Running both is a huge power draw, so in combat normally only the ray shields are kept up. The Last Jedi and Squadrons both show how fighters can slip under the ray shield layer to fire on the hull.
@Thorion19694 ай бұрын
Shields are used to deflect energy weapons; they don't work the same against projectiles, like torpedoes or Luthen's countermeasures.
@btgardener392 жыл бұрын
Honestly, I don't think the Empire has much of an angle on Luthen's ship. Sure, they've got a general description of "Fondor Haulcraft", but it was a counterfeit transponder code and it's a biiiiiiig galaxy. Hundreds of thousands of systems out there, at least, with hundreds of millions of ships being bought and sold with each passing year...? The only way the Empire would possibly have a chance of catching up to him, given their inability to even spot Andor when he was already in their custody, is the most random of misfortune. The Empire -- hell, the galaxy as a whole -- just doesn't have the same level of computational tech that Earth does. (With the possible exception of Luthen's ship/tech, of course, which is leaps and bounds ahead of pretty much anything the Empire is fielding.)

I hate Cyrill's mom sooooo much. LOL. Stelan Skarsgard playing against Forest Whitiker is such fantastic acting. Just amazing chemistry. And Mon's decision to fix her daughter up with the "Thug's" son wont be too bad...after all...the daughter seems to be leaning in to the "old ways" so she should be fine with it, right? I think B2EMO will do something heroic and die but his droid consciousness is some how saved and later Cassian will put it into K2SO which would help explain why K2 and Andor are so close. Possible Maarva is still alive? Not sure what the angle would be, but I find it strange that she would die between episodes and then they never actually show us her body. We see what LOOKS like a body being taken away, but we don't see that it's actually her. Maybe some ruse to trick the Empire. Why? Like I said, I don't know the angle, but I feel there is one.
@zagat22 жыл бұрын
I dont think there’s an angle - they did it so that you feel what Andor is feeling when he finds out. You never get to see her die or to say goodbye and the last time we saw her was the last time Andor saw her. It’s masterful writing. I do think there is one final part of her death to play out though as B2EMO is clearly lying about something - they go out of their way to state that he needed an extra long charge and he clearly says in Ep 1 that lying causes him to need more charging.
