THis is perhaps the score in which Jolivet is the closest to his master Edgar Varèse. The score sounds quite innovatibe in chamber music, mainly beacuse of the use of oercussion, which lost of the time makes rythmic ostinati. The counterpoint between instruments is very free. Jolivet aims firstly at f drawing individual melodic modal lines which encounter in a more or less dense counterpoint, depending from the moment. One feels also that the score is mede of differnet sections in which the musical writing is different. Thss Rhapsodie à sept is a masterwork.

Michael Daugherty's "Dead Elvis" is the only other one of which I am aware (aside from the Stravinsky, obviously).
