Saw the movie at 18 and hated it, but loved the soundtrack (of the classical pieces). Played it incessant. So glad to have found this, thank you!

Awesome! Thank you. I've been haunted by the "thunk" in the middle of the Adagio (24:09) since the movie first came out. I think a cello player hit their bow on a music stand! :-) That's how I can always tell if it's the LSO and AP!

The pretense of life, when the purpose of life is to exhaust oneself. Artificial novelty being overcome by the individual throwing themselves into the unquenchable flames of existence. Or something like that. Individuation versus the machine. "You can have anything you want, or you can be free."

ROLLERBALL The world is run by corporations. Individuals are not important. The Game is designed to show how cheep life is. Jonathan can't say why he keeps thinking about his first "Wife" the corporation gave him. There is no concept of LOVE. The word "LOVE" isn't even known. De-humanize the world. No individuals. No heroes. Yet, Jonathan is becoming the un-killable hero. A hero for the people. Jonathan ..who just won't die!

That blurb is better than any youtube video about the movie i've seen. Also AI runs the corporations

Nothing on you, but this makes me remember how much I hated records. Tick tick tick, sh sh sh, jump jump, pop pop. Give me a good DVD A or better digital level recording ANY DAY. And the wow and flutter and other surface noise, and distortion, and all the highs wiped of the vinyl after a few passes. And the 20 db or so of channel separation and S/N of about 1% of a good digital recording. The fact that they are at least a third generation copy helps, too. When people tell me records sound better I always want to check their ears for wax and their brains for disconnects. If it's older it's gotta be better, right? And yeah, I had super high quality turntables with high quality moving coil cartridges, with ANOTHER stage of amplification required, and all the rest of it. Thanks for reminding me how great audio is NOW.

A piece of music associated with horror is actually very appropriate for when we look into Jonathan's eyes at the end. He is gonna give Corporate Society some horror.

It was this film which introduced me to DSCH's music Albert; this is one of the most chilling performances of the slow movement from his 5th symphony that I know. It's a shame it's only an excerpt.
