Interesting look at two actors playing two important figures in the history of music, that I don’t think we appreciate enough in our culture.

This is a great paring and wonderful conversation! There are a lot of parallels between Billie Holiday and Sam Cooke that didn't occur to me and the rapport between Andra and Leslie was lovely.

Those actors are some of the best! They talk about their work, thoughts, and ideas so passionately and that's what a conversation between two actors should be like. They both are hardworking, unlike some actors who depend on the physical structure and appearance instead of the work. Praise them both!

I applaud the mutual support they had for one another. Their stories for preparation of such iconic characters is why as an audience you’re filled with awe and wonder while watching. It’s as if you’re in real time with the actual event with the actual person. How he was checked on what it took to possess a calm and poise during a performance while raging of such degradation on the inside. That it wasn’t cool being portrayed but rather self-control. Wow! She took a role that she personally embodies for the sake of telling it and delivering it authentically. She did so amid her fears and her own convictions as a Christian. God bless them both for a job well done👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

She was the Godmother of the Civil Rights Movement. She was courageous, refusing to keep silent when others cowered. She was hunted and her career destroyed at the hands of the FBI (United States.) The United States tried without success to silence her for singing the song Strange Fruit. The powerful song that became one of her signature songs. A song that spoke courageously about the lynchings of Black men, women and children. An undercover FBI Black agent was assigned to infiltrated her circle and was part of the conspiracy that destroyed this woman and her career. She will never be remembered as the legacy drug addict the FBI worked to create. The real truth is now being told. Check out the film The United States Vs Billie Holiday starring actress Andra Day and directed by Lee Daniels.
