Overnight in an Alpine Survival Shelter

After the first snowstorm of the season, I'm spending the night in a remote alpine survival shelter, getting close to the wildlife, battling through bad snow conditions, and climbing the second highest mountain of the Julian Alps.

I did it in late September 2022, in one push/day from Sella Nevea, together with some friends. But to spend a night in bivacco is an add value (you know what I mean). And, by the way, the ideea to cook cevapcici is the candy on top of the cacke😅

that ledge was absolutely terrifying to watch. also, the rock looks so similar to the rock in the mountains where I live, it's interesting to see the limestone eroding the same way in two wildly different climates

@@andrazegart i am in northern utah, which has a desert climate with a lot of limestone yes it is crumbly here, but not as much as your rock, as the climate preserves it well. of course the mountains here are much less rugged, and have had more time to wear down, so i believe that's part of the reason why

Is svizec slavic for marmot ? Otherwise lower altitude ones would be prarie dogs, they all look like mircats. I like how the seemingly mundane becomes so exciting when set in the situations you get into.Thank goodness we see the shadow of the iceaxe, being used as a camera mount, because, I was genuinely nervously glued to the screen in the mixed ( okay all) climbing sections. Even at the bivouac I had the as if we were there, need to seek the safety of the cabin. It is so nice when you share your meal footage with us. It feels as if I could be there in the unglamorous moments as well as the glamorous ones. The real personable Andraz, I liked when you had the tahini that's called karmek?Because it sounded like my moms'moms' ukranian last name "kalmack"; or originally kalmuck, it felt as if you were speaking with me , or the geneology-memory, if I had been born in my mothers ancestral land, and we had become climbing buddies. I still felt the exhilaration of the experience, from the safety of my warm bed. Such excellent story-teller protagonist the Andraz Egart! Us new-country Ukrainians, miss our old- country Slovenia climbing friends. Really hope some directorial and or content creator awards are in the future for you. such apex quality entertainment! Thanks for your enjoyable get-away from the everyday, without ever being anything but everyday. No words, no words needed, a wise man once said, oh yeah, that was you! @Toopa88 well... here we are in Italy, under the Jôf di Montasio, part of the Montasio group, therefore also the red bivouac Suringar is in Italy, not in Slovenia, so I have some doubts that the ...telephone box was installed by the Slovenians. And the nearby Canin group, southward, parallel to the Montasio group, extends half in Italy and half in Slovenia.

Čestitke za še enko krasno turico in tudi za nove čevlje!😁Škoda, da se Scarpa Mt Blanc ni obnesel (?), a nimaš kaj, ni vse za vsako kopito. Če lahko eno tehnično vprašanje... Saj bi prvi dan do bivaka po tem mehkem snegu šlo tudi brez derez? Oz. zanima me, kaj je prednost derez v takem mehkem snegu, ko od spodaj ni nobenega ledu? Če si boš vzel čas za odgovor, bom hvaležen, saj vedno zbiram mnenja izkušenejših. 😊🙏P..S. Dan za tem sem bil na Kukovi špici, ampak so "snežne" razmere bile neprimerljive s temi na Montažu...Je bilo samo še nekaj jezikov na meliščih pod Gulcami :)

Hvala Tomislav! 🙌 Hja, tisti Mont Blanc mi niso ravno ustrezali… js mam precej slabo prekrvavitev v prstih na nogah, tako da so bli cisto premrzli… me je na vsaki turi nohtal nonstop, pa tudi desna peta me je vedno bolela zaradi neznanih razlogov. Tako da ja, sm kupu zj Kayland, pa so mi zaenkrat top! Ampak bom moral se kaksno turo vec nardit, da bom za sigurno vedu ce je to to :) Ja, prvi dan bi se brez problema dalo tudi brez derez, ampak nocem takega pocetja prav prevec “promovirat”, saj bi potem kaksni neizkuseni lahko dobili idejo da lahko grejo na zimsko turo brez derez. Zdej če se vrnemo nazaj na tiste razmere iz prvega dne, bi rekel da dokler se cokla ne dela, je še zmeraj veliko lažje po snegu hodit s derezami. Je pa res, da je na skalnatih delih potem precej bolj nerodno… ampak malo treninga ne škodi :) Seveda, če bi bla kakšna velika flanka snega, potem so dereze v takem primeru obvezne, ampk sej to pa veš :)
