I remember when we use to bring pitcher's like Skenne up from the farm? Now are farm is growing vegetables. But with Palante it seems to me he pitches a good game depending on who's calling the game at the dish? If he comes out in Spring Training and does well, then he's earned a starting spot. At this point he's way ahead of Mikolas and Matz. Hopefully Rusty Rake and Lolly won't ruin him having the guy throw over a 100 pitches each time he's on the mound?

This is another season where I feel like us fans (who stick with the team through thick and thin) are at least getting some bones thrown our way. We won't be in the playoffs, but if we can stop relying on familiar faces to pull us through the regular season, then maybe next year will be (hopefully?) better. My favorite highlights of the year have been (in no particular order)... 1. The emergence of Pallante, as a SP. Throughout his starts, to me, he has earned a spot in the rotation for next year. He is one of a few pitchers we have where I actually look forward to his starts. 2. Winn. Even though he won't win Rookie of the Year, he deserves some votes; he has really emerged as a SS that I would trust to take the field each day! 3. Burleson. Hey! Looknwhat happens when the guy is used as more than a pinch hitter? It's why I was saying we should trade him last offseason. If we weren't going to play him, send him somewhere he can play everyday. He deserves that. Glad we're giving it to him now. 4. Siani in CF, and his push for a Gold Glove. While I'm not sure he'll get the award, his defense reminds me od watching Bader play. If the ball was hit in his relative direction, and he didn't get it, that was shocking. I sincerely hope we continue to give Siani a bit more time to develop his bat, as his defense in center is so good, I just want him in the lineup every day as it is. 5. The starts from McGreevey and Graceffo. Those have reignited a tiny, tiny bit of hope that maybe we will finally have some arms emerge from the farm, and help out our still (mostly) disappointing rotation. 6. Arenado's second half. Seeing him look more like the guy we traded for again has just been so nice. That walk off he had, where Winn gave him a hug was just great! 7. Seeing our catching prospects step up. While our ability to throw out runners still is miles away from where we were the Molina, Herrera's bat has been solid, and Pages has been weirdly clutch (last night's opposite field single or the series where he basically won two games against the Cubs for us in Wrigley are seared into my memories of positive 2024 moments). There have been other highlights, but these were the ones that stood out to me the most this year. Again, no particular order.

I never realized how awful a 500 baseball looks like. I thought 83 in March and make the playoffs. I suck at this.

Good analysis of 2024. I can handle Matz in the bullpen since under contract anyway with Gray, Pallente, Gibson, and Fedde as starters. The key will be to bite the bullet on Mikolas and trade him taking a loss and getting an upgrade for the pitching staff. I would not re-sign Goldschmidt unless at a huge discount to give a young player a shot for the future and platoon him. Goldschmidt likely still wants to play every day anyway. .

I’m going to lose it next season when Matz or Mikolas is in the rotation and they send Pallante back to the pen…but I know it’s coming

If Marmol is still there you're 100%

Keep Gray 3) Fedde 4) and Palante 5) ....... But this team still needs a SOLID 1 and 2 to go anywhere? I'll take flack for this, but depending on the contract......I'm keeping Goldschimt and Nardo. I still believe under a GOOD COACH these guys still have baseball in the tank. Would like to see Winn, and possibly Sagasse between two Gold Glovers for a season.

Charlie, i laughed at you a month ago when you said Andre has the makings of a good starter, yeah you're right, but i was right about fedde, Luken needs to at 1st or permanent DH and if people want to give Oli a pass thats fine, not me

Hey Charlie; Gray, Pallante, Fedde and Gibson would seem to be set for next year. Matz would probably be in there as well until he gets hurt and sits for 4 or 5 months. So do the Cards try and get a FA starter over the winter or do they bring guys up from the farm to fill in. Cutting ties with Mikolas should be in the works to try and do. I don’t think Goldy is done. It’s just a matter if the FO wants to platoon Burleson and Baker. That’s an intriguing situation to watch over the winter.
@davidcobler57053 күн бұрын
@@missourimale5431 Respectfully, there is nothing to get over. My comment had nothing to do with what I wanted, but what the Cards have and might do with.

I agree Pallante should be a part of the rotation next year. I would not include Matz as a starter but I’ll be shocked if he’s not barring another injury which is sure to happen. I know they won’t but Mikolas should be DFA’d. The money is already spent either way but why have him in the rotation? He’s dead weight. Let the youngsters pitch from the minors. That’s not to say I think any young pitcher should be rushed but rather guys who have spent the year in Triple A this season. There also needs to be a new pitching coaches because what we’ve got at the major league level isn’t helping.

the front office and the staff needs to change. I was at the Brewers/Phillies game last night and just watched the Brew Crew whoop the Phillies in a playoff atmosphere. The Brewers are showing the roadmap to how to get it done and by spending tens of millions LESS. New voices are needed. The Cardinal Way needs to shift and get ahead of the current trends.

At this point, who gives a sh*t. As far as finding a reason to watch, as long as the organization doesn’t care, why should I? I quit watching after the Toronto series and don’t plan to watch again…..either this season or until they start winning next season.
@BillDownton9 күн бұрын
So who do you see trading or DFA in the off-season and who do you go after They need to cut ties with Mikolas and Matz eat payroll otherwise you are guaranteed to lose 25+ games in 2025 Do not resign Lynn I believe resign Gibson if you think there is good trade value only
@missourimale54313 күн бұрын
Yes Pallante is pretty good at pitching but is so slow to the plate many teams will steal a ton of bases on him. So not so good despite your assessment. Pallante pitching today? Time to steal some bases!!
