@Bob Jones We could do worse as far as trumpet gods go. Fantastic to see and hear someone focus on tone, technique and musicianship rather than trying to squeal out yet another triple high C for the sake of it. Like Harry James and Doc Severinsen, Andrea has a huge sound that is compelling to listen to. Really refreshing to see this being shared freely on KZbin without anyone trying to sell the latest triple high C lip grease, mouthpiece or course to accompany the video. Trumpet God? Absolutely one of them for sure.

@Bob Jones what in the world are you getting so defensive for? The original comment you replied to is hardly worth getting this butthurt over.
@Falthad4 жыл бұрын
@Bob Jones Who's being put down by what? Brian made a point that instead of needless flare such as a triple high C we're hearing a piece that's focused on the quality of the sound rather than forcing tough octave notes just for the sake of it. I'm genuinely confused. What did I miss?
@Benisuber14 жыл бұрын
@Bob Jones Dude... you brought up "electing him god" because the guy said it was a perfect balance of musicianship aspects. That is an inherently subjective statement, and it's pretty obvious why. You're taking this hyperbole so much further than the context of the original comment. Saying this performance was very good doesn't mean it's a personal insult to literally every other musician that has ever existed. I'm incredulous at how much you're blowing this out of proportion. Chill the fuck out, this was clearly a master-level performance.

Willie maurice it’s just about air control. In my high school you can’t even get into symphonic (we have to audition) if you’re not able to play those notes with quality. By junior / senior year, trumpet players should be able to control those notes in that range really well and be able to articulate them within a piece.

I play trumpet all my life and even as kid, I tried to do this but it's the first time I see how it's done live and I feel very humble too since I don't see immediately how he does it. (aside from his talent) He sounds nice and warm in the low register too so a very shallow lead trumpet mouthpiece is probably not used. Perhaps he plays rather small but not shallow. Then the trumpet? Standard or perhaps smaller bore than usual...?? Anyhow, this is absolute top.
