probably the essence wooden brow pencil. one of those brow pencils that is sharpenable 😂 not even sure why i bought it. speaking of that positive vibes only line from essence, the cream blush stick from that collection was also awful. kelly gooch also doesn’t like the positive vibes only highlighter. still adore essence though!

@@Only2TRU 1000%. Some people say "it's best for people with dry skin" others "it's best for oily skin".. but honestly I think it might just be awful for everyone lol. jk I'm sure it works for someone! Definitely didn't work for me.

With the Elf blush/contour wands, do people like them because they are that good or do people convince themselves they are good because the are an inexpensive option? I love drug store makeup and it has come a long way but, I think sometimes we fall into the trap of convincing ourselves something is good because it is “ affordable “

They’re not elf’s best work. They ooze out of the side of the tip of the tube. The contour hardly shows up. The highlight is so so. I have 2 of the blushes but haven’t used them yet. I prefer the putty products.

I hated them. They dry way too fast and are patchy, especially the blushes. I agree with you, I think sometimes people convince themselves to love things because it's affordable. I don't mind paying the extra $ for the Tarte glow wands, I love them.

I just finally tossed my 'highlight' and 'blush' ones I had. They dried too fast, looked patchy, lifted anything under them, and they looked metallic in a way that makes you look aged. The highlight is way too dark and should just be blush

For sure, you make a great point. I often hear videos say things like “this is good for the drug store”. I just want to know good products, why do we have to say it’s only good for the price?

Colourpop needs to colourstop. They launch collections so quickly it’s not surprising they’ve gone down hill a bit. Maybe concentrate on quality instead of quantity, Colourpop.

I agree, and I think e.l.f. is following their stepfoots launching new products/dupes and wannabes every other day 🙄 some are good but some others are a straight up fail 😬

I really love their Pretty Please eyeshadow palette and how beautifully it sits on my eyes but I had to return their $9 grey palette from Target because the quality is much lower. Even tried out one of their glosses that were on sale for $4 and whelp I got what I paid for. The pigmentation is fine but it feels so goopy on application and has that cheap plasticky smell. I'm really picky with my glosses and the best one I have so far in my collection is a KVD one which I prefer much more than their matte liquid lipsticks.

Ahh I definitely feel the same way. 😭 They were one of my favorite brands for such a long time but I feel like the quality has just not been very good this past year.

I know you love it, but I absolutely hated the Milani tubing mascara. It was so wet. I tried pumping the wand a bunch of times to try to dry it out. It took forever to dry. Also, the CoverGirl loose powder has always sucked. It's one I used back in high school in the late 90s. The cap would even crack and break on me. Fortunately, these days I can afford the Fenty loose powder.

I feel like we will see that Milani mascara in a lot of fail videos this year! It really was such a wet formula. I feel like it takes forever to dry out and get to a place where it’s easier to use. It’s strange because I have a few CoverGirl pressed powders I love but the loose powder was such a fail! 😭

You're not mistaken! Essence used to have a Be My Spacelighter highlighter, which was a purple/green shift. I was actually looking for it earlier this week on their site, but they don't seem to make it anymore.

I actually loved the new colourpop powder blushes. The 2 i have are kind of dusty pinks and they're just super easy to use and go with anything

Colourpop 11:11 set was very nice. I was pleased. I don’t do a lot of palettes because I’m pretty neutral and nothing flashy lol. I also liked the eye shadow crayons/sticks they released as well. Creamy, nice pigment and easy to blend ❤

I was a teen from the 80’s that used Noxema to remove makeup, I, then bought the Covergirl powder & foundation that had the same scent I never used them again, as far as lips products I can’t deal if it has a scent because your lips are below your nose you get that smell that unfortunately can’t get rid of after the product has disappeared.

I had the same experience with the elf wands. It looks so patchy on top of foundation especially. It looks okay on bare skin if you want a very slight touch of glowy blush but it’s not great.

I used the essence pure nude baked blush in 05 pretty peach and that one works really well for me as both a blush and a highlight. That one is more of a pink with gold sheen. But see if one of the other colors would work for a highlight!

Elf Halo Glow powder in the pink color is beautiful as a pink highlighter.... Not very shimmery but has a nice glow

omg i adore my essence baby got blush blush sticks! especially shade tickle me pink. even bought a backup as they were selling out everywhere where i live. they’re not heavy for me but they’re thick, so i do see that. the way i apply it to make it work is either stippling it onto a brush straight from the tube, or rubbing some between my fingers to warm it up to make it easier to blend over the cheeks.

GREAT video! You are soooo right in that not all products work for all people. I am an ELF lover as well! I was so excited for the halo blush wands as well. As soon as they came out I bought all the colors. And then I tried them 😳 BIG FAIL. Allll the things you said and more. The ONLY way I can wear them is if I go very heavy handed and go with underpainting. But it’s not my preferred method of applying my makeup. I’m no MUA. But I just don’t use them. It was a huge letdown. You definitely are not alone with the blush wands. I don’t like the contour wand either. The highlight I can use but I cannot apply directly to my face. I rarely do with these types of products anyway.

I always look forward to your videos! The elf dupes for the charlotte tilbury contour, blush, and highlight were some of the worst products I've tried this year.I purchased the 2 dark colors (charged and fearless) of th Maybelline super stay ink vinyl and both of them just look like clear glosses now. I've only used them a handful of times. I shook them up a lot and nothing brought the color back. I have one of the nudes and that one still looks like it did when I first purchased it. I'm super bummed because the 2 deeper colors were absolutely lovely and I loved the color of them

Try the LA colors liquid shimmer eyeshadows..they come in beautiful colors dry down and last ...la colors has come a long way from their old formulas etc...Dollar stores are the places to look and dollar tree..super affordable and good quality for the price

The elf wands did work for me. Got a lot of compliments the first day I tried them out. I will say that I felt the blush didn’t go well on my skin tone but I got them free of charge from influenster box. Might pick up a blush that flatters my tone more.

I think that might be part of the problem for me! I don’t love the tones mixed with the shimmer. I think I might actually like a matte version better because the contour formula was more flattering on my skin!

I love the CG blushes. I have a few of the CG Cheekers and love it. The ones w the highlighter are so lovely. I really like my CG Advanced Radiance powder at the end of all my makeup. The wrinkle blurring pressed powder is nice too. It’s so hard weeding thru all the good stuff CG does make.

I have that essence baby got blush stick. I don’t know what it does, color doesn’t go on smoothly, I have to “roughly” rub it into my skin, and the effect turns out weird. I don’t know what to make of it. Scent is melon like, the only non negative about this product 😂

I tried the lift and snatch nyx brow thing and they tinted my eyebrows PURPLE! I use the auburn shade and it’s a big no from me.

I've been on a low buy so I haven't bought much this year, but one drugstore product that really didn't work is an ELF liner, can't remember how it's called. It took way too long to dry, the applicator is too thick, it makes my line uneven and it smudges. It's very similar to the Milani liner you talked about. Ruined my makeup every single time.

I tried an awful pink mascara, Profusion, I think? It didn't stay on, at all! I don't expect colored mascara to do the most, but this did nothing, not even color my lashes, it comes off right away! 😂

Nyx blur was such a disappointment because their bb cream was my favorite product ever and they discontinued it. I havent found anything that doesnt separate or cling to my dry patches

Bareminerals highlighting blush in pink makes a fantastic highlighter. I thought I was buying that at amazon for that purpose. Too light as a blush Just beautiful. You can make it as subtle or intense as you want. The Elf halo wands sucked. Decluttered.

I actually have the Essence Baby got Bronze! I got it after my Fenty Matchstix in Truffle expired. I think my shade is in Mocha? It has a strong watermelon-like scent that is pleasant but weirds me out lol. I like what it does though - it blends out really easily and doesn't feel heavy on me. I personally think it was a weird choice to have fruit scented bronzer, but since it doesn't linger, I can live with it 🤷🏽 I love how small it is, so I can put it in my travel makeup bag. I'll be trying the Wet n Wild bronzer/contour stick in Maple-something ('Call Me Maple,' I think?) after I finish this one. Very personal con for all products, but I kind of hate it when packaging has removable components like a lid, because I just know that one day I'm going to misplace it and it will all be over for me 😂

I though the nyx brow thingy was meant to be used with the stencil. But guess not since I haven't heard anyone talk about that. Anyways that doesn't have anything to do with the point that the product sucks😅 Also, I was contemplaing buying revolution lip oil, so thank you! Won't be picking that up.

NYX Blur With Me Foundation was extremely hard to shade match. I would have needed to mix shades to make it look right on me. That is too much work!!!

What is with Hard Candy and the weird fragrance they are putting into their lip products? 😭 I had the same issue with their lip oils. I really loved the packaging and the formula but the scent/taste were so strong and terrible.

@@AndreaMatillano my lip product I had was like numbing medicine or something. I wanted to really keep it, but why cringe whenever you pull it out to use it? You’ll never reapply either. Yeah, I don’t get it. Make it smell like cake. Vanilla. Mint. Anything but numbing medicine. It’s 2023,there’s no excuse even for drugstore products to smell appalling. I remember trying to use the Rimmel glosses few yrs back and always thought they smelled like nasty hairspray and they still do!!!! The shades are so pretty too but can’t get over the smell. There’s just no reason anymore. Wish I had a reason for you. Have a wonderful, peaceful holiday season!! 😊

I actually tried the highlighters on my eyes and they ended up creasing! 😭 Although, they definitely looked good as an inner corner highlight. I would say if you have generally have issues with creasing they might be better though!

Does ANYONE remember the NYX Loves Contour All palette? maybe 5-7 yrs all now. THAT has a pink highlighter!! I have it on my countertop to make sure I use it again. But honestly, nobody makes a pink highlighter. They will make an icy shade, then go into a gold shade. Doesn’t matter what brand. They all do that. This palette had so much to offer back a few yrs ago.

Shop Miss A has these lumi blushes that come in bright and deep pinks, they can be built up and sheered out. On the skin they give that pink glossy highlighter effect, no big chunks of glitter just pure glow and luminosity. Hope this helps! 💕🌸🎀

Im a kbeauty kinda person, so my personal recommendations would be the lilybyred Luv Beam Glow Veil in #2 Holy Beam. Its a very beautiful light pink powdery highlighter that I love to use even as a brown person. Shimmers are beautiful and applies like a dream (its powder but feels very soft and the opposite of dusty), suitable both to subtle and more bright looks, in my opinion. Another one I like to use is the romand See Through Veilighter in #2 Moon Kissed Veil. Its a more subtle pink powder highlighter, good for daily looks but also can be used for more dramatic looks if your layer it well. It blends better with the skintone. Doesnt feel powdery or dusty either. Both are shimmery and don't have fallout or chunky glitters, which make them look very good on the skin. Those are pretty affordable! Not cheap, but affordable. 10 and 9 bucks (in euros) respectively.

I’ve been far more selective with my makeup purchases this year and haven’t really had any fails although just tried two of the j cat metal chromatic eyeliners and they didn’t work at all. Absolutely no pigment

I will respectfully disagree with the Hard Candy Glosstopia Lip Oil - I love the packaging and the formula is great. I will agree on your point that the tints do nothing - every color might as well be the same. But the taste and scent did not bother me at all - in fact, I can barely smell or taste anything! Maybe it has to do with "lip chemistry," as silly as that sounds? I can handle it fine, but maybe the formula simply does not gel with other people. Worst drugstore product I tried this year was the Maybelline Fit Me concealer - the one that looks like the Nars one. The formula does not work under my eyes. It seems to clog up and pill up, no matter how little I use. No powder - high-end or drugstore - will set this concealer because it looks dry!! I've gotten concealer dupes from ALDI that look better than this, how is it possible?!!?

I also like the Hard Candy lip oil - I've only tried the peach, but it has a nice light peach fragrance and maybe the barest peach taste, but it's not noticeable. Mine also doesn't leak.
