Fantastic Andreas, keep posting these recordings with your superb guitars!

Beautiful performance in every single aspect, including the filming. It's had to imagine how your thumb knows exactly where all the base strings are, especially when one needs to be quickly muted. 6 strings is difficult enough.

Ancient rumors are that Weiss was the only musician that JS Bach would allow to improvise with him. Weiss was a friend of one of Bach's sons. I first heard lute collections of Weiss last year. Always fresh and positive, especially played by a Master like Mr. Koch.
@higherresolution44903 жыл бұрын
JS Bach was involved with other in contests of improvostaion-"theme and variations" as it was called, and is still called today. GF Handel was his main competator on keyboards. Weiss, on the Lute. It was Weiss who actially initiated the competition with Bach and others. Weiss was the godfather of JS Bach's most famious musician son, hence good friends and friendly competition.

This is great! I love the low notes. It puts the guitar a lot closer to the lute in range, and the right hand has a very similar technique to standard classical usage. I am wondering if the music is in standard notation with two clefs, or that lute entabulature is directly used?

Excellent Andreas, you are a master. Your sound is amazing, the articulation very precise, and style the proper. The sound of your 13 string remember me the Theorbo, but more contrast in power sound. What is the Luthier of this guitar. Thank Thank You . And CONGRATULATIONS you are a great musician. I see passion on what you are doing, this the reason of you success.

any musician is an asset to our society. of course Andreas has excellent guitar technique in my humble opinion: this Weiss Passacaglia in the London MS was of course written for the 13 c B- lute this guitar sounds a little bit like an electric guitar recording to me As everybody knows Weiss did play the Lute himself I wish Herr Weiss in the Baroque area could listen to this performance . I would be curious to know of his opinion???!!! greetings from California

Very beautiful! Very well played. The only problem I noticed is at the end of the second session in D Major. I think this is not what Bach really had in mind. For me the best solution for this part of the music is Segovia's

really nice playing. however-- and i don't know if it's the instrument, the recording, or the artist's nails-- something is bugging me about the tone. I think it's the nails or technique, because it seems to mainly affect the strings played with M, I or A and not P. anyone else?
@johnhudelson26525 жыл бұрын
I think the deep bass strings are too loud. Maybe lighter strings in that range might sound more balanced.

What perfection. What a sound. Do you tune the lower 6 strings differently depending on the key you are playing in? Wish I could hear those low notes in a live performance. One question where are you recording this piece.
@AndreasKochGitarre2 жыл бұрын
Hey Richard! Thank you for your nice comment and kind words. Yes, the lower strings are tuned into the ground key. The filming work was in my private house. Greetings from Germany.🖖
