My husband Andreas has been a huge Yngwie fan since he was 12 yrs old. He finally got to meet him at the Guitar Gods concert. It was awesome

It is with great sadness that I let you all know, my husband Andreas lost his battle with cancer on August 9, 2014. I just want to thank Yngwie for taking the time to talk with my husband like he was a friend and not just another "fan." He made my husband's dream come true. He met his idol. For that I am forever grateful. Sincerely, Lauralee Finke

I was lucky enough to meet Yngwie after a show at the Showcase Theater in Corona, CA a number of years ago. Even though he seemed somewhat inebriated, he was very cordial and thanked me and my friends for coming to the show. When I told him I thought he was a Guitar God he quickly downplayed my comment and said "Oh no, no but thank you. I'm glad you like my music." After hearing rumors about his arrogance, I was floored by his humility. At least insomuch to my compliment. Whether you love him or hate him(or somewhere in between), there's is no doubt that he's established himself as one of the all-time great rock guitarists.

I'm a huge, longtime fan myself at 53! I first heard Yngwie with 'Steeler' and 'Alcatrazz' and never looked back! First time I saw him was at L'Amour rock club in Brooklyn, NY before he became really famous. Anywho, this video put a great big shit grinning smile on my face! I live vicariously through you Mr. ANDREAS! Thanks for sharing!

That was really cool! Usually in interviews he gets asked the same question and answers the same way. Here he talks about the tone of the guitar coming from the neck and his methods of making the strat tremolo floating, although I already figured that out. I never really thought about the headstock being the core of the guitars tone, although I am sure it has an inherent effect.

I couldn't contain my tears. I lost my father in the same year and in the same month (August, 29th). He also lost his fight against cancer (multiple myeloma), he suffered a lot. I'm not sure how you, as a wife, must have felt... but I'm sure it was very painful. You lost your husband, and I lost my father. Just as I was touched to see Andreas finally meeting his childhood hero, I was also happy to have achieved this dream. His father is the hero at this point, and Malmsteen must have realized the greatness of this amazing man named Andreas. My condolences and respect. RIP Andreas. Ty, Malmsteen.

Last December 27 in Fort Lauderdale my cousin who is disabled (wheelchair bound) bought a Meet and Greet package for Yngwie Malmsteen, the package cost $400, when my cousin was taken to the room for the M&G surprisingly found out that he and a young lady were the only ones who bought that package, when Yngwie saw them he said: is that it? The package consist of the following: - picture with Yngwie - one item to be signed and a T shirt. After 3 minutes they were dismissed from the room without the promised T-shirts. The tour manager (Danny) took the information (names and addresses) with a promise of sending the shirts via regular mail. Three months later my cousin have receive nothing on the mail regarding the fact that he already email twice to Danny (tour manager)

I'm sorry your cousins experience was not what they thought. I will tell you that I have quite a few friends in the music business and I was able to get word to Yngwie about my husband beforehand and he was gracious enough to spend extra time with him. He was also very considerate to offer his condolences when he found out Andreas passed away.

I have had the honor of meeting Mr. Malmsteen on a professional level and he is considered to be difficult to work with. I do not agree. I believe that Yngwie expects 110% from himself and no less from his employees. His fans deserve the best, they pay the bills. He has dedicated his life to music and his fans, it would be nice if more music was made with the same professional ethics. Be well...............

Close but no. Our family is German but our Dads side of the family was from the Leipzig area where J.S. Bach did most of his composition. I'm sure Yngwie could appreciate that. Andreas had a very aggressive form of thyroid cancer and because of the treatments he could barely speak. He passed away only about six weeks after this. He was an amazing human being with talant and lazer like focus. Having him as my brother was an honor.
