I'm 27 & the military has been on my mind for a while. I don't think it may be for me. However I've watched a few people's videos on the pros/cons of the military and what to expect from the military. I know I could still do it at my age, but I don't know if it's what's best for me. But I really do want to prove myself to me and be more disciplined in my life. To accomplish the goals I have for myself. I just need to figure myself out. I really, really appreciate your prespective on it as woman solider. I love that this is not a pro/con list, just a list of considerations.
@ANDREASHAVON3 жыл бұрын
It’s okay to be unsure especially thinking about doing something like joining the military. What i try to always tell people is to have a plan and a list of goals you want to accomplish do your research and determine what what military is able to do for you and if it’s worth it. Even if you do one contract make sure it’s because you want to.

Thanks for this video it was clear and heartwarming. I m in my early 30s an attorney in my home country that just got my permanent residency. Doing research I read that if you sign for 2 years it s in fact 2 years active and then 6 years in the reserve and that you may not be able to leave at the end of your contract. I wanted to join to accelerate my access to citizenship I want to be a US citizen (it requires an honorable discharge) and also prove to myself I can do it (my dad was a drill sergeant in my country so I grew up in basic training sort of I always wanted to be a soldier but I m ADHD I need to take mental stimulants and that s a disqualification ground in my country). I wanted to join also to let me time to pass the US bar to be an attorney and move on in the army (jag)or out (public attorney) at the end of those two years. I can't join if I risk being called back in my former job (paralegal or linguistic). Can you really walk away at the end of your contract duration?
@ANDREASHAVON3 жыл бұрын
Thank you for watching and yes after your contract is over you can choose to either reenlist and stay in or ETS and get out and you will then be a civilian again. The obligation is 8 year so at the end of your contract let’s say you do 3 years and decide to get out IF we started drafting people (which wouldn’t happen) you could still be called back to active duty for 5 years after you get out and after that 8 year period you’re free

I’m in the process of enlisting as a volunteer fighter in the Ukrainian Foreign Legion. I’m not sure if I’ll be accepted, as my application is currently “in review.” If I’m not accepted into the Ukrainian Foreign Legion, I’ve decided that I’ll enlist in the U.S. Army on a six-year 11X contract, hopefully with an Option 40. I hope and pray that I’ll get assigned 11B and not 11C. I’ve read mixed reports, with some people saying that ASVAB scores don’t determine whether or not I get 11B or 11C, while others say that a higher ASVAB score will get me assigned 11C. I REALLY don’t want that. I want to be 11B. Do you know if that is how it works?

Do the officers get any free time to live life as well? And do you know what the army is like from the officer side
@macburger50265 жыл бұрын
Jaden Bolton Obviously as with all branches of the military, officers have to be saluted so that's something cool for an officer knowing that everyone enlisted is basically a slave to you. While officers may have to show up for PT formation, officers don't always have to do (from my observation) group PT which is cool because even if you love to work out, mandatory group PT really sucks especially in the Army where we do something called "PRT" Officers don't have to be slaves to the motor pool like so many people in the Army are. Yeah they'll check off what's supposed to be in the connexes (storage sheds) after the lower enlisted people have laid everything out, but they don't have to physically be out in the hot sun all day taking everything out. One of the many things no one tells you about the Army vs other branches. Officers who aren't married don't have to stay in the barracks. The only real thing that sucks about officers from my understanding is that they have to rank up within a certain time frame or else they'll be kicked out.

When i can’t wait not the army i was actually married so i didn’t need to go that route. should I go army or Air Force as enlisted ?
@ANDREASHAVON3 жыл бұрын
I can’t answer that question for you it all depends on you. Make a list of pros and cons for Both. Think about what the army vs Air Force can offer you. And choice what makes sense for your life and goals.
