What Army Recruits Go Through At Boot Camp

Here's an inside look at the United States Army's intense 22-week basic training known as OSUT, which stands for One Station Unit Training. Senior Video Correspondent Graham Flanagan spent four days at the Army's Maneuver Center of Excellence located inside the Fort Benning military installation near Columbus, Georgia, where he observed different companies at various stages of training.
After a processing period that takes one to two weeks, recruits experience what's known as a "shark attack," when drill sergeants create a high-stress environment through a series of rapid-fire instructions and commands. Once the intensity subsides and training begins, the dynamic between the drill sergeants and the recruits evolves into one found between a teacher and students in a classroom.
Despite rainy conditions that rarely let up during filming, we saw various dynamic aspects of training, such as marksmanship, tear gas exposure, and MOUT, which stands for military operations in urban terrain.
In the video, we incorrectly refer to duffle bags as rucksacks. Insider regrets the error.

@@dylanwatson270 Ikr dude, these squiddies ain't got nothin' on muhreens 'oo'rah! We real cross-stick boys out there doing the gruntest of man's work, all other branches are just daycare for boys. Just thinking of being back in the shit gets me a raging hard on, especially when it involves spent casings and the smell of taxpayer funded 62 grain freedom pellets leaving the shaft of a long barrel. Getting that globe is the only time you ever become a man, and for the women, becoming a wookie. (if you know what i mean). Most days, I think back to the days just before i left my sweet marine home away from home, and shed a single manly tear that I didn't give a leg or two for israel. The thoughts hurt worse when I wake up for my job at subway and think i won't be getting yelled at by a pay-grade higher than me. The only remainder i have left of the marines is my heterosexual boyfriend who uses me as a personal NBC glove full of sticky MRE applesauce on lonely nights - not gonna leave a bro hanging! Anyways, I couldn't help but notice that a fellow marine like yourself has a VERY manly profile picture of a John Deere™️ logo and I'll tell you that even through my computer i would death grip your thick firing hand and give it a firm shake. I myself would use such a masculine picture or maybe a Ford™️ logo to not regret my purchase on an F-150. But, honestly, this is my husband's boyfriend's account and he would take away my favorite flavored crayons and coloring book if i did that. Anyhow, I wish you the best, and screw army! That's not the solution! The solution is to make the immigrants who are given a free ticket into the USA, serve in the US forces to earn their free ticket and prove they believe in our freedom. I served in the US Army putting my life on the line for my fellow Americans, not for immigrants bringing in their one track backwards thinking. Don't care where they come from! When it was time to go to official basic from reception, I had been in reception for exactly one month, as I had originally been at fort Jackson. It’s a really long story, but after a month in reception, I was physically but more so mentally done. Towards the middle of last year I'd considered enlisting to find some purpose/motivation. Gratefully something appeared at the 11th hour and I'm glad it did, looks like a rough time just getting built up at boot camp God bless these brave souls and I wish them the best
@johnselwitz5362
@johnselwitz5362 8 ай бұрын
If you ever do reconsider and decide to enlist, trust me, it’s not that bad. You get used to it really quick and a lot of the team building exercises are actually quite enjoyable experiences. Often you’ll make friends that will last a lifetime. Just start running everyday and exercising regularly during the weeks prior to joining and you shouldn’t have a problem.

I love watching these type of videos, because I always wanted to be in the army or military, I know it's really tough, but at the same time it shows you how capable you are and how good you are as working as a team and following instructions, so it's something that I have always wished to be, the problem that I have its that I have alot of complications in my body, that make me unable to serve as a military woman and help others and the country indeed. What I basically do is I have an army uniform that I bought and I put it on, to honor all the ones that are in the army or military working and serving around the world, and those who aren't here anymore, but died as a hero, that will never be forgotten..
