Great info! Thanks. I JUST finished changing my AR1 today at home and once i went to kite it, it became apparent that i passed the AR1 and AR2 under the AR3...so had to redo it on the field. Lesson learnt:change lines with fully open wing on the ground.

Not sure if this approach is what professional paragliding repair shops follow. I agree you should buy the correct length (original) for a line, however, that will be different in size due to shrinkage and stretching. To solve this problem loops should be introduced. After changing the line symmetry and length should be checked to make sure the correct AoA has been set. So, you only need to replace a single line. Also, worth mentioning in some countries you need to have a certificate of airworthiness of your glider. By modifying it in any way you might lose this, of course, laws and regulations might differ based on countries. Happy landings!

That’s a really good question. You mean for trimming the wing with hitch and larkfoots, etc? Not sure, I would ask Ozone
@WuTangChillaBee Жыл бұрын
@@AndreBandarra1 Exactly. A local service centres says its ok 🤷♂️ I guess its the risk of minor dynamic load is small as long as rubber ring is seated properly. Anyways cheers 😘

What if you're changing multiple lines, and want more of a DIY approach? Can you purchase a quantity (spool, etc) of line and sew the loops on the ends of the line (with your handy-dandy newly refreshed sewing machine :) ) yourself? Of course, you'd have to get the lengths spot-on (using your handy-dandy laser measurement rig).

I’ve tried sewing lines before and it’s doable but not easy. They don’t turn out looking great and it’s a very fiddly process. Also no way of telling how strong the joint is unless you got a handy dandy tensometer at home so maybe that should be the next build :)
