The first concert I ever witnessed at the age of 12 was Gavrilov playing Rachmaninov’s 3rd Concerto (I mean, could you ask for a better piece😂), and it still remains to this day as one of the finest concerts I have ever attended. Just magnificent! I mean, he plays like all of the modern, young pianists of this day, with force and intensity. But unlike them, he has the rich, textured sound to actually back up that force and turn it from something almost repulsive to something utterly ravishing🤩🤩🤩
