I just opened my Roth with M1 last week and also purchased VTI. I knew I wanted vanguard total stock market index, but It sure was a struggle for about 3 months of pondering between vanguard or M1. Happy so far and excited to get this started. I also have a Roth 401k at work that I can max up to 19k eventually.

Great video! I'm a recent subscriber and love the content! You mention around minute 4:00 that dad can pass on the boat and invest in his kids' Roth IRA. What should also be mentioned here is that in order to invest into a Roth IRA you must have earned taxable income/wages. So, yes dad can contribute $2,000 or even up to $6,000 but the kid must actually make this much money at his/her job.

Please do more with videos on M1. Its a really powerful tool for beginners. Unless Robinhood does something soon, they are old news. Kinda sad because they were the ones to bring down the house of cards (magic reference) I Switched to M1 for fractional shares and DRIP.

Ethan Zhou VOO is the “top” 500 largest companies (S&P 500). VTI is essentially every stock in the market with a few exceptions. VTI has greater diversification. If you own both you own everything with a tilt toward large companies which you may or may not want.
